From the train station or Butterworth bus terminal:By following the signboards, which will lead you to the ferry terminal which is adjacent to the train station (5 minutes walk). The ferry fare is RM1.20 (subject to change). The journey to Georgetown terminal takes about 20 minutes. From the terminal, a 3 minute walk takes you to the taxibus stand. The taxi fare should be around RM10 and the journey through the streets of Georgetown should take only 10 minutes. You can also try the trishaws and the fare should not be more than RM10. (Please enquire the fare before boarding a taxi or trishaw). You may take the public bus (fare RM1) or to Penang Road (stop in front of 711.) From the LangkawiMedan ferry terminal:As you come out of the terminal, there are lots of taxis and trishaws available. You can board either but remember to enquire the fare before boarding, which should not be more than RM10 for either. The terminal is just beside the Fort Cornwallis (an old British fort) which is within the Esplanade grounds. The short route takes you through a scenic part of Georgetown with some old majestic buildings along the way and the ride by taxi should be less than 10 minutes. From Penang airportYou can take the airport limotaxi, which will cost RM38 to the hotel. The journey should not be more than 30 minutes. You can also take the public bus but you will have to walk to the main road outside the airport complex. Take the Milan bus (yellow) or RapidPenang Bus U302 with a direction board to Komtar. Fare RM3. Duration 60-80 minutes. From KOMTAR, its a 15 minutes walk to the hotel (see map). Taxi or trishaw from Komtar will cost RM10.From Penang main bus terminal (Sungei Nibong)Taxi fare to hotel RM25 - duration 20 minutes. There is a bus stop just outside of the terminal. Take the Milan Bus (Yellow) with direction board to Komtar. Fare RM2 Duration 35-45 minutes. From Komtar its a 15 minutes walk to the hotel (see map). Taxi or trishaw from Komtar. Fare RM10 duration 3-5 minutes.By car via Penang bridgeAs you cross over one of Asias longest bridge, you will notice Jerejak Island on your left (a former Leposy island which later converted into a penal colony and which is now a resort). As you inch closer to Penang Island, look out for the directions to Georgetown. From Penang Bridge, the quickest (shortest?) route to Georgetown is by using the new Jelutong Expressway. As you exit the bridge look out for Georgetown and as you travel along this straight coastal road, the sea should be on your right while Caltex petrol station and Tesco should be on your left. You will be able to notice Komtar (the tallest building on the island) ahead of you Keep going straight for the next few minutes (no left turns yet!). As you inch closer to the city centre, traffic seems to build up and moving at a slower pace. Continue your journey and you will reach the first traffic light. The second traffic light is less than 100 meters from the first one. Be prepared to make your first left turn after the second traffic light (do not turn at the traffic light). As you turn left (1st turning) you will notice the road seemingly narrower and traffic moving even slower. Turn right (2nd turning) at the first intersection and be prepared to make a left turn (3rd turning) at the next one. You are now in Magazine Road and traffic is at a crawl. As you travel along this road, Prangin Mall, Traders Hotel and Komtar will be on your right. The traffic lights are very close to one another. Keep to the right side of the street and at the third traffic light, turn right (4th turning). You are now in Penang road and this time keep to the left side of the street. You will notice a pedestrian bridge ahead and at this bridge make a left turn into Burma road ( 5th turning). Now immediately keep to the right side of the street and make a right (6th turning) at Trinity Auto. You are now in Transfer road and your journey is nearing its end. Keep on going and you will pass a traffic light and a short distance later a Caltex station. At that intersection (Caltex), make a left (7th turning). We are just before the MAA building. Your journey ends here. The duration from Penang bridge to Hotel Mingood should be between 15 to 20 minutes. Have a pleasant journey and happy hunting!!For those coming from Thailand by mini van, most mini vans will stop at Chulia Street which is about 400m from the hotel. At times the driver will drive you to our doorstep, if you tip them a few ringgits (RM5).

I stayed at Hotel Mingood where each time I come to Penang. All in all a very good place to stay.

The hotel is basic but everything is very acceptable considering the price. The rooms are a good size and the staff all very friendly. Breakfast is just the basics but good enough to start the day. All in all it is one of the best budget options in Georgetown.

Hotel receptionists are helpful and make the extra mile to give assistance. The room is clean and spacious, though a thicker or an extra blanket will make sleep more comfortable in an air-conditioned room on cold nights.

For the price I paid it was a bit expensive. Loaction reasonable. Room are reasonable big but need renovation to put it back to shape. The airconditioning in the room was not sufficient for the size of the room. The breakfast was not what we expect in PEN suppose to be the food heaven.

location is near some nite spots like pubs and makan markets. Hostel type services with friendly staffs. In house covered carpark is a plus... However, the pillows given were soft and thin..TV in the room were very small too for us to watch euro 08.

Very good hotel (not hostel!) with VERY budget prices. Free WiFi (ask network key at reception) is very useful. "old time style" but nice and clean rooms. Best hotel in Georgetown for this price.
