We were there last year and had the impression, the hotel was more clean the last time. The floor in the elevator was dirty for days, our room was not really clean when we moved in. Bed was not made the following day, they just changed towles. [...] from the reception was very profesionell with our complaines.

I will be honest, I was less than excited about the fact that I would not be walking out my door and stepping onto the beach. I have always stayed in a gulf front unit. Looking back now at all the times I payed hundreds upon hundreds of extra dollars just so I could open my door and see the ocean, I feel like a FOOL! The Microtel is 5 minutes from the water! The location is PERFECT. The service I received from the staff is the kind I would only have expected to receive from a hotel with a 5 diamond rating. We arrived on Friday July 3rd and [...] greeted us at the front desk with a big smile, friendly, warm attitude, called me by my name and was ready to accommodate. WOW! I was shocked. I was expecting the type of front desk hotel attendant I had encountered so many times in the past which was the lethargic, unenthusiastic, grouchy lady that looked unkept and didn't seem to care if I was there or not. [...] was far from anything I had ever encountered at a 2 star hotel. I was very impressed and feeling like this might not be such a bad stay after all. Saturday morning we went down for the complementary breakfast and again I was shocked. The variety and presentation was once again something I would not have expected from a 2 star hotel. I had cereal with low-fat milk, orange juice, a banana nut muffin and an apple. PERFECT in my book of breakfasts. I was fueled and ready to hit the beach! While my friends and I were playing in the sun, eating fresh seafood and shopping, [...] was cleaning our room at the Microtel. My friends and I range in ages from 24 to 30 years and sadly we are a bit on the messy side. When we returned back to our room and I walked in our room I was yet again, shocked. [...] had cleaned up all of our messes including the bathroom sink which was left with covered with various toiletries scattered from beginning to end. [...] removed everything off the counter, cleaned the counter then returned each item lined-up one after the other, organized by hei

Close to shopping and restaurants.

I chose this hotel because it was close to the beach. The rooms were clean and the beds were extra soft. The carpet in the hallways needed to be vacummed more often. Word of advice--if you stay at this hotel please request the newer wing in the back. The older portion of the hotel is not as clean. The pool is tiny and there are no balconies in the rooms. Overall, the hotel is a very good choice, and is not too expensive.

The staff was extra friendly and the continental breakfast was great. Rooms were very clean but beware when booking queen size rooms; make sure you specify suite or you will end up staying a room the size of a matchbox. The hotel itself has excellent location to eateries and the mall.

Will not stay in a microtel again. The towels had stains in everyone of them. The sheets did not have a crisp, washed looked to them. Looked like they were already used or maybe they were just old sheets. I was charged twice for the room, which took about an hour to get corrected. I don't know whose mistake it was-microtel or orbitz. Orbitz charged $9.00 more than the motel did. Not a good deal at all. Big lesson.

It was dirty. Walls, floors, bathroom, linens, everything was dirty. This hotel needs a scrub down from floor to ceiling. The sheets were old and stained, the floors a mess, the lobby windows leaked during a small storm, the overall feeling was that this place has been neglected for years.

I was there with my family to enjoy the beach. The location was very good for us, only 3 miles to the beach, very close the outlet shopping mall. However, the Continental breakfast was so poor! Need a lot impovement.

Requested non-smoking room not available. Sent to 4 different rooms. No curtains or television in rooms. Linens were filthy. Disgusting-left Micro-Tel and drove to Orange Beach for stay.

The room was great! Not enough dinning for breakfast. The room was great. Beds were comfortable. The lighting and configuration of the room was ideal. Great value for amenities offered.

This hotel is in a great location near the beach, but far enough away to have great rates. We went to the beach daily and the trip takes about 5 minutes to Gulf State Park or the public beaches. The hotel staff was friendly and check in and check out were smooth. The hotel is split into an older building and a newer building. We stayed in the older building which was still nice and clean, but I imagine the newer building would be better - so request it. The only downsides to the hotel are: 1) getting into and out of hotel from Highway 59 can be hard since you must use a crossover lane to cross traffic. During busy times this gets a little annoying, and 2) there is no elevator in the old building. So if you are not on the first floor you have to carry your luggage up stairs. Overall a very nice stay, and would stay again.

Loved the mirrors on the wall. Not very good breakfast options. I really enjoyed this hotel. The staff was friendly, the rooms were nice and cozy, and the thingI loved the most was the huge mirrors along the wall behind the beds!
