Price. Kid screaming in room next door waking up my 2 year old. For the price this hotel was not bad. It wasn't right at the beach, and it wasn't the Taj Mahal, but for the price it was decent. The walls are thin, we were trying to get our 2 year old to sleep at 8:00 at night and had to listen to the screaming child in the room next to ours.

I called the Microtel to confirm our reservation and spoke with Sue. Sue confirmed the reservation for Thursday night but said that we did not have a Friday night reservation. How odd: we paid for 2 nights and received our confirmation from Travelocity. When I mentioned that we had a reservation for 2 nights she said, "Oh, it's a prepaid reservation." "Is that a problem?" I asked. "I only have you reserved for one night. If you have a problem you need to contact Travelocity." She was curt and rude. The constructive criticism I have for Microtel: Microtel has a great reputation. Hire friendly professionals for your business and know the cost of poor customer service. (We did not stay there and we will recommend to others not to stay there.) In regard to the poor customer service with Sue, we contacted Travelocity. The associate with Travelocity contacted the hotel and also spoke with Sue who would not allow him to speak with a manager. After several attempts, the associate did speak with the manager. The manager stated that he would not honor the 2 night stay. Travelocity delivered exceptional service: they stayed on the phone with us and reserved a room in another hotel for us at no extra charge! In addition, the hotel we ended up staying in--the Comfort Inn in Wilmington (near UNCW)--was terrific! Comfort Inn staff members were polite and professional. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. We enjoyed our stay there. Most of all, we're grateful to Travelocity for ensuring that we kept our vacation plans.

I was in NC to attend 2 business meetings and look at possible home relocations. You are blocks away from the beach, near the aquarium, Civil War museum, a car ferry to Brunswick county and great restuarants. My room had a window bench that over looked the pool and was a great place to sit and read on a quiet night. Since I had all the electronics with me, the in-room safe was an added bonus (an extra 1.00 per day). There is a fridge in the room and a microwave in the public breakfast area. Public eating area was well maintained and could be used 24/7 if you wanted to re-heat left overs, etc. Breakfast: waffles, fruit, breads, muffins, coffee, juices and cereal. The only item missing from the continental breakfast was a hard boiled egg (protein). As a woman traveling alone, the parking lot was very well lit and all room doors open to an interior hallway. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I will definitely stay, again.

Good breakfast. Nothing. It was okay but I think expensive because there was no microwave in the room and DVD.

My family and I loved this hotel! We decided to try a different hotel from our norm, that was close enough to the beach without the usually high prices of being "ocean front". To our surprise, the Microtel was a great little hotel with large queen sized beds and was positioned in a good location. There were plenty of restaurants nearby and most importantly, it was two to three blocks from the beach. The pool was also open 'til midnight and "beyond". The kids loved that! My wife and I both agreed that the hotel was very clean, especially considering the fact that it was close to the beach. We have found a new spot.

Friendly staff. Location and size of room. Drove past the hotel 3 times and had to call the front desk for directions. Room much smaller than I expected, but since just one night, didn't worry about it. Breakfast in morning good, but some fresh fruit would have been nice.

When we arrived on Sunday to check in, the manager was on the phone ranting and raving, very upset, left me standing there over 10 mins before acknowleding me. Acted as if I was a nuisance to check in.

Clean and friendly. Too far from the beach. Hotel was fine.

W recieved great service at checkin and checkout. She even mentioned the micro pass so I could put my nights on it to earn a free night stay. The continental breakfast was a good start to the day. The room had two big beds and a great view. Close to tourist attractions and eating locations.

European style. Bare bones ammenities. Lovely. Walls could be thicker. Breakfast could be less starchy. European bare-bones style. No fancy bed spreads to throw on the floor. Cute little window seat. Complimentary breakfast okay but full of starchy foods. Only had cinnamon raisin bagles (what's with the sweet bagle phenomenon?) Walls could be thicker in that we heard too much going on in other rooms and out in the hall. Staff very helpful. I appreciated that they had 2 QUEEN beds since there were three of us. Most hotels in Wilmington have 2double beds.

The hotel had a bed and running water. Almost everything I did not like. Broken furniture, leaks in plumbing, stains on ceiling, broken smoke detector. Hotel was run-down and air throughout smelled moldy. Air conditioner did not de-humidify, furniture was broken, leaks in plumbing, stains on ceiling, broken smoke detector. Bad hotel, worst location.

We were very satisfied. It was convenient, clean, neat and friendly. The only problem we had was a closet cabinet door broke loose from its hinges. It didn't really bother our stay, but we reported it immediately to the desk.

Nice pool. Room was not clean. Hotel was ok for the price. Free breakfast was a joke too many people not adequate space or waffle irons. Our room wasn't vacuumed when we arrived and the maid service failed to clean the room or make up our beds for the second night.

Kid friendly. Toilet was stopped up, requested it be fixed and we did it ourselves. Atmosphere was friendly. The room was clean and met our expectations. Perfect for a 3 day get away. The beach was not in walking distance for kids but overall it was worth the money spent.

Nice location. Poor room care. No bed making, and little cleaning while there. I would not stay at this type of hotel again. The price was great but I'm used to more cleanliness and care of rooms.

Price. Wasn't near enough to the beach. Clean, friendly, quiet.

This hotel was great for the price and the staff was very friendly. It was overall clean, but the carpets could've been cleaner. They were not that bad, just needed a cleaning. It was definitely worth the money. It was very reasonable and better than I expected. The location was great. It could be in walking distance from the beach but for young kids.

Free breakfast, free WiFi. Guest had a dog. Pleasant, cheerful decor, noisy from kids, forgot to call me for wake up, 2.5 star and nice staff.

The location was great easy to get to. Water took a long to get warm in the bathroom. Good hotel for the money I will plan to stay in hotel again.
