Great location across from government buildings, a short walk to St. Stephens Green, Trinity College and Grafton St. Historical building with a lot of atmosphere (somewhat stuffy, not a place for kids to run thru the lobby). Room was well-appointed. Bathroom was marble with both a tub and shower. Staff was friendly and attentive.

The hotel is in an ideal location, just a 10 minute walk from Grafton Street; the service is warm and friendly- the staff are extremely attentive. One word of warning- the hotel food is extortionate- breakfast is charged at 35 euros each! My advice is to go around the corner to the bagel factory or rhubarb cafe- you can get a decent breakfast for less than 10 euro. had a spa treatment- very good- definitely recommended. Great room, great hotel, just lousy food prices!

Strange that in a 5 start hote there were no tea/coffee making facilities in our room?

A gem in the middle of Dublin. Didn't realise the hotel was so big - it's hidden very well from the outside. We were met by an old-school doorman, who was exceptionally friendly throughout our stay. Check in handled very professionally and we were given an overview of the spa/leisure facilities, bar and restaurant as we were shown to our room. The room wasn't massive but it was very comfortable, stylish and well appointed. Broadband was chargeable, though. I think that should be thrown in for the price. After a swim in the pool, we were so impressed by the character of the bar, we decided to eat there. It's in the cellar and it's full of nooks and crannies. Not a vast menu, but our choices of steak and chicken were exceptional. There's a huge range of wine, all available by the glass and fair value. Our rate didn't include breakfast, so can't comment on that.Would definitely stay again.

This is a haven of quiet in Dublin city centre. You pay for it but it is worth it. Perhaps just a shade ostentatious and i prefer a more casual approach but a treat none the less.

First class hotel. Very discreetly appointed with excellent staff who were helpful and well informed. Not a cheap option but on balance value for money especially through Laterooms. Only niggle was the €20 charge for the car parking.

The Merrion Hotel is beautiful and in an enviable location in Dublin city centre. However, I would say that you really do have to pay extortionate prices for the quality. Although I got my room at a discounted rate through LateRooms, this rate did not include breakfast and the breakfast cost was very high indeed - €35 for a full Irish breakfast, €27 for a continental breakfast. We had breakfast in our room and ordered from the a la carte menu that didn't display prices - I had juice, french toast and coffee, he had juice, tea and a smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel - total cost? €66! Outrageous. He had a club sandwich the evening before for €20. The service is wonderful but it would need to be at those prices. I wouldn't stay again simply because I couldn't justify the prices - it was a once-off special treat but, at the end of it, I felt more cheated than treated!

The Hotel was lovely, the breakfast was overpriced! I ordered scrambled egg which when it arrived it was obvious that it was not cooked properly, I should have complained but I didnt want to ruin our short stay. I was suprised that it was allowed out of the kitchen?? Otherwise iy was a great break>

The hotel is centrally placed for access to shopping, tourist attractions and restaurants and bars. Customer service is excellent although tipping is expected. The hotel is based in lovely Georgian houses so it has character and charm that makes up for any deficienies in decor in the main building. The rooms are large and the bed was large but very firm...beware if you have a soft bed at home. The bathroom was a little disappointing...dated and with a very basic shower and tub and one sink...at these prices one might expect more. The Cellar restaurant has a great ambience for an evening meal, and the menu was varied and well presented and the service excellent. The wine selection is fairly good and prices are on a par with other Dublin establishments. Expect to pay 150 Euro for dinner for two with one bottle of wine and a glass of dessert wine and coffees.
