Mercure Hotel Welcome was located conveniently in the heart of Melbourne right next to David Jones/Myer. Not luxury but for the price it was 'quick and clean'. Staff very helpful.

Clean, cheap and central. Some services are shared with the Mercure Grand which makes this a better option than many budget hotels. Avoid Level 2, which is the first floor of bedrooms and is located near airconditioning and other plant which emit weird noises during the wee hours.

Excellent location, service and facilities! Would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in the middle of the city, close to everything. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean and well equiped.

staff were very obliging in providing us with any tourist information that we needed i.e. maps, what's on etc. though we booked out in the morning we were able to leave luggage with them till late afternoon. though centrally located (right near stores, restaurants, trams etc) the accommodation was quiet.

The hotel is situated in the heart of the city, and you have access to the best that Melbourne has to offer. The twin room we stayed in was very small, and the decor was rather tired, but taking everything into consideration with the price and the very knowledgeable staff it is a hotel that we would return to.

Really enjoyed the good service and the hotel, but the only downside was the quality of the food in their restaurant.

We were originally placed on the 7th floor which had cigarette odour either in the hall or through the air conditioning. After we discovered a leak coming from the ceiling in the bathroom, we were swiftly moved to the 3rd floor - much nicer on the nose. Facilities were ok - basic but neat, location was great. Would recommend it for CBD value.

Great location within walking distance to almost everything. A bit noisy and rooms are nothing flash. Didnt spend that much time in the room with Melbournes attractions so close at hand.

The 4 of us found the service & facilities at the hotel were excellent. The breakfast at $15 per head was very good value. The location very handy for all of Melbourne's attractions.

Outrageous fees for Internet acces: $0.50 per minute. For a Mercure this is a relatively run-down place. Certainly inadequate for business travel. However, very friendly and helpful staff.

Nice hotel right in the middle of CBD. I'll be happy to stay again
