Excellent location but hotel needs some improvementsThe hotel couldn't be better located as everything is literally on your doorstep and if you arrive at a reasonable time you can easily park in the car park making life easier.Unfortunately our room was pretty poor. The hotel is obviously making some slow improvements with some rooms having been renovated (ours wasn't one of those!). The rooms could definitely benefit from sound proofing as I had to listen to next doors tv and conversation! The bed was old and broken and the window wouldn't shut. However the worst had to be the food... never seen anything like it!!I would recommend you do stay at the hotel but ask for a newly renovated room and I'm sure you'll have a great stay ;-)

Be sure to get the right room!Stayed on the lateroom rate and were given a room on the second floor. The second floor has not been renovated and is very old and in bad repair. Room reminded me of an old person's home - not touched for at leat 30 years. I did notice that the first floor was renovated and was probably better. Postion though is fantastic - could not be better and the staff were nice. I did not bother changing rooms as I was only there one night. In my room, the bed was in a bad state and the ancient television barely worked with broken knobs and poor reception!

Great value hotel in a really great central location. The rooms were clean and in good condition, the bathrooms were fine but could do with a little updating. Hotel staff were friendly, helpful and efficient.

The room was fine but the bathroom was very poor as the sink was patially blocked and the water would not run away, and the lavatory was a discrase as was black under the water line and covered in limescale! The hotel did compensate for this on my bill with a reduction of £10.00.

FoodBreakfast is quite pricey, costing more than a lunch even with the discount the hotel gave me.

Disapointing standardOn arrival the hotel looked impressive - beautiful builing, very central and the hotel looks very grand. There was a refurbishment underway - and herein lies the reason for my poor review. We were offered an upgrade to a 'superior' room on arrival and declined feeling that we had already paid quite alot for our room. The pictures on the website gave us a comfort that we would be staying in a modern and stylish room anyway - not so! We were directed to a pokey and dated corridor, to what can only be described as an 'inferior' room that was dated and tatty. The lampshade was frayed, there was mildew all in the bathtub and there was a hole in the wall! Our complaints to the front desk about this not meeting the standard of accomadation indicated by the website were met again with a suggestion that we pay to upgrade to a superior room. Not helpful! I went on to write to the manager and was offered a free upgrade if I returned to stay within a year. Not likely! Have a care booking this hotel as you might not get the value you expect.

A good place to stayThe hotel is right in the centre of Bath, which is great. Parking in Bath is a nightmare. There is a hotel car park available but costs extra and needs to be booked. Some of the rooms have just been refurbished in a contemporary style that does not quite fit with the style of the hotel, with strange blue lights shining down in front of the doors that give the corridors a surreal feel. The rooms that have not been refurbished are still of a good standard, being quite large with comfortable beds. As with old buildings, some of the floorboards are creaky but apart from that, there is little to complain about. There is a bar area and coffee lounge which are both good. The restaurant lacks character and I have not been tempted to eat there. My main gripe is the TV and lack of free wi-fi. The TVs are old and limited to only a few channels. Overall the hotel offers excellent value for money and is of a better standard than many Bath hotels at that price.

rooms were comfortable and clean , bedside light did not work and it was a little noisey during the night.staff were very helpful and freindly.the food was very good in the square restaurant , but we were a little disappointed with the bar area , it was a little cold and not very cosy , otherwise we enjoyed our stay very much, the hotel is an ideal location to explore bath,s site,s and city centre shopping.

Very handy for the City Centre and within easy walking distance of all the shops, restaurants and major attractions. Hotel quite old, so hence creaky floorboards and limited parking.

The hotel was satisfactory. The staff friendliness was average and I was kept waiting about 10 mins each time I went to the reception counter. The hotel room was tidy apart from a couple of old used towels left in the bathroom and a huge leak in the ceiling. I wouldn't stay again as it felt like an impersonal basic hotel focussing more on the numbers of people going through rather than the quality of the service. It was a good location as close to the city centre, however, there are many more quirky (and cheaper) places around which are worth the extra few minutes walk into Bath.

The hotel was in a brilliant location which was very close to all tourist place and resturants. Definatley need to ask for a refurbished room if you can as these have been upgraded. Very friendly and fast service. Bar is very expensive however.

Uneven floors, especially bathroom slippery when wet, dangerous for seniorsNo reason nowadays not to have satellite TVCar Park confusing and chargable £10 a day to guests. But overall very good. Very nice room but aircon confusing and may not have worked properly, also still smell of stale tobacco probobly from years of misuse.

The hotel is in a good location for all sites and gardens in Bath. The rooms were recently refurbished and it was very good value for money.
