I loved walking around the colonial zone from right outside the doors of this hotel. If you go out the front door make a right and a immediate left. There are like four cool evening places within two blocks. I walked along the water even as far as the Hilton which in the humidity was tough. My room was fine. Nothing fancy but adequate. Tip try to find a cabbie you can call because the cabs right outside the hotel are complete thieves.

The location, the staff and the food. My stay was too short. I work in the hotel industry in NYC so I know what to expect from hotels when I travel abroad and I do so quite often. I arrived at the Mercury Hotel and was pleased with the location/area. The check-in agent was very friendly and helpful. The room was small but had all the required amenities. Clean and bright, hot running water, comfortable bed ,working TV and mini-bar. The breakfast set-up was fantastic and the waiter Felix was very helpful and kind. The location is ideal as you are only steps away from the tourist and all the night spots. I will definitely return for New Year's weekend, please have lunch or dinner at the hotel the food was some of the best cuisine I had in DR. I complimented the chef and the staff. I will definitely return and I highly recommend the Hotel Mercury for your upcoming travels .

Very satisfying: Rooms small but clean, Shower great.front desk excellent, Breakfast buffet outstanding superior to a ship. Attitude of mercure hotel staff was excellent and this really showed up with the head waiter and his staff. I could not have been more pleased. I usually cruise and will do so again but this triip proved to me I could fly to a place, stay, eat, then fly home . The dominican people were very pleasant .

really nice hotel, great location! there is a lot of places to visit in the area. the room was small but comfortable. the only problem was that the AC unit was not working, so for a hot summer it is a little bit inappropriate. very friendly staff!

Good for the money, close to many attractions and good hearty breakfast. Rooms can be small for some. Mercure is a decent hotel and good for the money. This was my first time in Santo Domingo, but stayed in Punta Cana for a few days before coming here. It's located in the middle of Zona Colonial, where you'll see much beautiful colonial Spanish architecture, where much of the city's attractions are located. I stayed for four nights here and was a bit too much as you can probably see most of the main attractions in two days. The morning breakfast here, which goes from 7-10 am, is pretty good and you can eat as much as you want to prepare for a lot of walking and sweating. There's a mini bar fridge in the room that I used to store my supermarket bought waters and snacks, as the snacks and drinks in the fridge are such a rip off. Fortunately there's a supermarket on Called El Conde called La Dispensa where you can stock up on stuff, if you're on a budget. I also recommend modelo mercado if you intend on buying crafts, amber/Larimer, and other stuff; it's a lot cheaper here than by the streets of zona colonial. It was a good thing I brought my WiFi enabled laptop with me, which helped me find some other nearby attractions like Los Tress Ojos, Columbus lighthouse, and the aquarium, which is by the beach; they’re all in an approx 5 kilometer radius from each other on the east side of the river. This hotel overall is good for price, but it's mostly about location. Make sure to clap when you land in Santo Domingo.

I stayed for 10 days in August, the air conditioner leaked in the room, maintenance claimed was condensation and not repairable, front desk staff friendly and accomodating with room change however all rooms seem to have same problem, when arrived home all my clothing smelled like mildew including my pillow I brough along, the door knob to the bathroom came off in my hand, and the showers are absolutely dangerous, Veeery slippery, the food in the resteraunt was cold and not very tasty, however the included breakfast made up for that. Faclility claims recent upgrade but I cannot see how. The staff in the restaurant were WONDERFUL, this facility has superb employees and this hotel would benefit from raising the standard of what they offer to match their superb staff. I would not stay again but would visit the staff in the restaurant for cocktails only. It is an OK hotel but am sure there are better for the money, they certainly do not offer what you pay for.

It is a good cheap hotel, that has an awesome buffet breakfast. We booked our hotel online not knowing how it would be, so we stayed there for 3 nights, wish would would have booked it longer. I loved it there. Good Value for your money. The location is awesome too, right in El Conde. And a few minutes walk to the Zona Colonial.

HOTEL IS IN A GREAT LOCATION IF YOU WANT TO CHECK ALL THE HISTORICAL SITES IN THE CAPITAL.IT IS VERY CLOSE TO ALL THE MAIN ATTRACTIONS LOCATED IN THE COLONIAL CITY. THE BREAKFAST WAS PRETTY DESCENT, JUST BE CAREFUL WITH THE LOCALS THEY ARE ALL TRYING TO GET OVER ON THE TOURIST. If YOU DO GO OUT MAKE SURE YOU ASK THE HOTEL STAFF TO HELP YOU FIND TRANSPORTATION, THEY WERE VERY HELPFUL WITH THAT .ALL IN ALL IT WAS A PRETTY DESCENT PLACE TO STAY CONSIDERING THE PRICE; BUIT NEXT TIME WE'LL JUST STAY IN A FANCIER HOTEL AND COMMUTE TO THAT AREA

Prices. They charge you for everything, even if somebody is going up with you to the room. The food in the restaurant is greasy. They don't have micowaves or iron and iron boards in the rooms

I have stayed at the Mercure several times and I've never been disappointed. The service is always friendly and usually prompt. I just love the location of the hotel, right on The Conde, it is one of the most exciting places to be in the city and it is close to monuments, shopping and the Malecon. The buffett breakfast, included in your stay, is a real treat before starting your day of sightseeing or shopping. Most of the front-desk staff speak some English. Because I'm a light sleeper I requested a room change once I realized my room overlooked the street. The staff moved me immediately and I slept like a baby the entire stay.

I visited a friend. I had to leave a day early but since I was advised that there would be no refund due to an early check-out in advance, I did not expect one. However, I wish the hotel would have granted my request to factor this in in waiving the incidental charges. I felt like I was talking to a wall (even in Spanish).

The patio of this hotel fronts the El Conde, a street in the Zona Colonial converted to a Walkway/Mall. Very pleasant to sit out on the patio, sip an espresso or a Presidente beer and watch the passersby. The included breakfast every morning is nice, with excellent French breads and pastries. Rooms are clean and nicely furnished. Free WiFi in the lobby. Other reviewers have complained about charges on checkout but I have had no such problems in about a 1/2 dozen stays in Mercure. For me Mercure is always a consistently pleasant stay and one of my go to favorites in the DR.

The Mercure Comercial Santo Domingo is very well located in the center of the old city. Walking distance to many monuments and many years of history. The room is very comfortable.Dining options at the hotel are good. There are over ten (10) restaurants around the hotel less than two (2) blocks away. From Hard Rock Cafe to more serious dining. Free breakfast.

The room seemed small and damp. The hall had water from a leaking roof. The shower in the bathroom was poor. However I will give credit that they had postings that bathrooms are being renovated. It will be interesting to see the finished results. Great location! Not bad for the money but don't recommend for long term stay. Breakfast buffet was the best!

The Mercure is located in the Historic District directly on the pedestrian walking street which runs through the area. Easy access to restaurants, internet cafes, shops, supermarkets and more. Friendly and helpful staff. Reasonable restaurant prices and a nice breakfast buffet. Secure and comfortable. A good value for the price.
