The StrathHaving known the hotel for years (previously lived in Brum) my wife and I found the hotel to be good value for money we got a good rate from laterooms.com £39 for a twin/double room (requested twin when booking) when we arrived I asked to be put in a twin room and the rececptionist replied that they needed to know as the housekeepers leave at 2pm, I said we booked two weeks ago, he then said that we could have an executive room that was a twin room for an extra £10 which was still a good rate but a bit cheeky. All in all a reasonibly good hotel but I wouldn't pay full rate.

Not RecommendedEverything was as shown in photographs only on a smaller scale. Room very small. I requested a smoking room when booking electronicallt only to find the hotel is non smoking. The swipe card for my room and the entrance door did not work so every time i left my room i had to go ack down to reception to get them to re-energise my card. The car park is not lit up at all and rely's on the casino next door to provide lighting. I am a female traveller who felt very unsafe when getting out of my vehicle. Main entrance is locked at night and you have to push a bell to gain entrance and wait for the night team to come out from the back office to let you in. Not good when you are alone and outside in the dark.

Compact Single Rooms but Pretty Good Never the lessPros:Good price (take the breakfast included rate if availabe)Location - near to plenty of places to eat and broad street is just about walkableDecent bar and restaurantWell equipped rooms, quite recently done upFeels like a proper city hotel (not a lodge, guest house or other budget dump - and there are all too many of those in Edgabaston!) - you even get to pay in the morning!Cons:Single rooms are very small - but adequate and comfortableParking is an extra £3.50 per nightI like it a lot and will be back!

I wish I could find more hotels like this in the UK where I could stay for a decent price.

Do not spend you money on this hotel!!On arrival we where greeted staight way by the receptionist, gave us our room key and told us we had to pay for car parking on departure this firstly angreed my partner as he has stayed in hotel within this area before and has never had to pay for car parking. When arrived to the room, it was very small and the smell was intoxicating, it was coming from the toilet which had a broken seat. My partner then rang down to reception to tell him what he had found and asked for us to be moved the receptionist told us that the duty manager will come up to us. we waited 10-15 for the duty manager to arrived, he/she never showed so we went back down to reception asking why cant we just change rooms!! finaily we did. The evening didnt get any better, the walls where so paper thin that we could not get a wink off sleep all night as people were shouting down the hall ways at 5am in the morning and could here arguments in rooms up above. So overall this hotel does not live up to what is states and I sugguest no-one to stay here if you want help staff, clean room and want to get some sleep!!

BreakfastActual breakfast was absolutely fine. The waitresses/waiters were charming - when you could get their attention. They seemed to be doing their own thing and it wasn't as easy as it should have been to order tea/coffee, etc. which wasn't on the buffet.

Mostly to a very good standard.Small room but had everything needed except air conditioning - noisy road so couldn't leave the window open at night, air conditioning would have made it perfect.

Expensive for what you getNot impressed. On arrival, I was asked if I wanted to upgrade to a larger room with a double bed for an extra 10 pounds, apparently normally 20 pounds. On seeing the room it was so small, no-where to put case etc ,and that was the larger room at extra cost.telly not working , had to move after unpacking , plug in bath broken in second room.also there is a charge of three pounds fifty to park your car.staff ok ,but hardly anyone in the hotel , i felt they could have done better.i wont be staying there again!!

Too Hot and too smallThe room we had (double quoted) was very small on the inside of the hotel _not even room enough to open the wardrobe as the TV blocked full opening of the door and access to the window. Window was too small and did not open wide enough to let cool air in. There was also a continuous humming noise from. Room was excessively hot due to the number of hot pipes (boxed in) running through the room. Unbearable!

Far far too hot... no aircon so beware the summer! As above

Good value for money, all we wanted was a clean bed and a shower for one night in easy walking distance of the city night life and certainly got that. Be warned, very thin walls so the faint hearted or the easily offended better beware.

Not bad but...Stayed one night in a double room which I found to be very small, as per other comments.Handily placed for work next day. Did not have breakfast so unable to comment on standard of meals.

Dark room, only one lift working so slow to book in and out with queues for lift and reception. Key card extremely temperamental and car park such that seemed to spend my time up and down constantly. Breakfast and food generally good.

Truely value for moneyIf you want a hotel away from the city centre, then this would be the one. Comfortable and clean rooms.

Have stayed here previously in an outside room which was larger and more pleasant than an inside room. Good value for money with an excellent pub opposite.

StrathallanLittle disapointed with room size. Room for a double bed but not much more - small.Stayed last year and expected a double room as before. Bathroom adequate. Not quite the ambience expected.
