We only stayed for one night but overall found everything great. The hotel position is perfect, large well furnished room, very good dinner/breakfast and outside pool just wonderful. Would love to have been there for a week----or more!

My stay at the hotel was good I must say. The rooms were very big and comfortable and had a deep bath in the en suit. My dining experience was great the food was of 5* standards. My wife and I will definitely will be going back there.

Hot and coldhotel is a throwback to a bygone era of understated class and service.attention to detail very good, porters, staff well presented; polite and willing to assist. accomodation clean but in need of a little refinement ( bathroom light not working, shower leaves a lot of water on floor) requested a fridge in room (not provided) ,food good bar area good. enjoyable stay.

I found that the time between ordering/requesting and fulfillment was too long, and the hotel wasn't full, so they must have been understaffed. Also the cleaning staff left trolleys and rubbish bags in the corridors till late afternoon which was dangerous, unsightly and smelly. Room was spacious, but furnishings and decorations looking tired, bathroom was modern, but bath was too high for a person to climb into.

Hotel does not meet the 4 star standard requirementsThe leisure facilities such as the pool and sauna were satisfactory. The jaccuzi was old and cheap. Management service was not very helpful in appreciating that our room shower was broken, the sink would continueously get block and our ketle was stained with yellow bits in it. Although I have been to Menzies Carlton in Bournemouth before wih my family I enjoyed my time there, but when my wife and I went we didn't get a pleasent experience and shall not be returning there.

The Staff were very helpful and friendly. The outdoor swimming pool amazing ( ideal for children, young and old! ) and terrace area is a credit to this hotel staff-it is very clean. Only had breakfast-and it was fine.Although the hotel itself is not the most modern, it does have a very nice character and feel.Car parking ( which is plentiful - and very secure ) is excellent and free! Our room had a sea view which was well worth the extra ££'sWe would definately go back again.

When we arrived we were shown to a room in the back annex overlooking the carpark that was, frankly, filthy. The cushions were dirty and the bathroom hadnt been cleaned. There was a plug in air freshener which was attempting to cover some sort of hideous under-smell! We asked for another room but were told it was the only one. We said we werent staying so they offered us a room in their neighbouring hotel which was much better and was at least clean. I wuold recommend staying here rather than the Carlton as you can use the "facilities" haha of the Carlton anyway. My husband went to the gym but returned in 5 minutes, it was useless and the running machine wasnt working. We had booked a table in the restaurant (which only had one other couple in it, who the maitre d strangely sat us next to, even though there were loads of other empty tables. A party of 4 came in, who he sat next to the entrance door!! They weren't happy of course - what's the point of putting someone on your worst table when all the tables are empty? Why upset your only customers? Our meal (from a very limited menu) was ok. The people next to us sent their steaks back.I felt it was all quite expensive for what was basically pretty poor - typical England really. On the plus side - it was a good location.

One night stayWe stayed at this hotel for one night and the room was spacious but cold - the bathroom was disgusting - mould over a tatty bathroom screen, wash tap broken, radiator and extraction fan not working ( we did ask specifically for the radiator to be turned on but this didn't happen). Although the staff were polite and attentive, we felt overall attention to detail is not a priority here, especially for the cost of the room and the advertised 4* status. I would NOT recommend this hotel for value for money.

Everything about our upgraded room was first class -- very comfortable and beautiful sea view through picture window.Sadly, restaurant was extreemely cold -- problems with heating!Same Dinner Menu every night, so only ate there once.Breakfast seemed rushed even though we tried to take our time.Would definitely stay there again just for room, view, location and car parking.

In a word: Horrible! This \"hotel\" is like a 99 year old prom queen; once she had been the bell of the ball, now, age has taken its toll, and the result is rather frightening. Upon reaching our room, we found that the door was open, we soon learned that this was because the frame was so warped that the lock no longer engaged. Our second room had floor boards both loose and noisy. At breakfast, after giving our order, we were not surprised when two other meals were delivered. The quality of the food was that of a fast food establishment. The crowning jewel of our stay was the missing wake up call on our final morning, it set us back, but fortunately we were still able to catch our train. At one point in the distant past this was probably a fine hotel, now it is a shell, staffed by people that smile and do their best, but obviously suffer from a management team lacking in both experience and knowledge. AVOID THIS PROPERTY AT ALL COSTS; DO NOT STAY HERE!

We did not use the restaurant for evening meal but the buffet style breakfast was very good, as was the service. The room was excellent, spacious, clean, comfortable, quiet, our main requirements. The bathroom was clean, spacious and more than adequate. To be picky, the bath panel could have been a little smarter, but hey! Only slightly adverse comment was the cocktail bar..the bar service was not wiped, service was slow and no cocktail menu, just a wine list...but also... main guests were at a function and not individual bookings. we went to a different hotel. But a very good all round package! we did not use the leisure facilities.

The bedroom was large and clean and in good decortive order but the bathroom was very poor, toilet would not flush and you needed to be a body builder to turn the shower on and off.the pool area was in need of a revamp all looked very tired and the jacuzzi did not work and if did work i dont think i would have used it as it was not very inviting

Too expensive for what was on offer....Bournemouth has become a total rip-off !
