Smart hotel in excellent locationWe stayed at the Melia for a two nights break in Berlin and were delighted with the hotel. The service was very professional, the room clean and comfortable and the location simply superb - two minutes walk from Bahnhof Friedrichstrasse and within walking distance of many top tourist sites. We didn't include breakfast but there are plenty of choices around the hotel, either along the river or in one of the nearby major boulevards like "Unter den Linden".

The hotel is in an excellent location - the Freidtrichstrasse train station is virtually at the hotel doorstep as well as the Friedrichstrasse shopping area, and it's an easy walk along the river to Museumtinsel. We are both relatively young and fit and found most places were walkable (other than more outlying areas such as Friedrichshain and Kreutzberg!) provided you are in no specific hurry.

Very good business hotel. Ideally situated on one of Berlins throughfares. Exceptionally clean rooms and hotel overall. Modern, comfortable and smart decor throughout. Good choice of foods/drinks available at reasonable costs. Excellent breakfast and super fast and very polite room service. Good gym, sauna and solarium facilities at no extra cost. Would highly recommend, excellent hotel and staff.

The hotel has two restaurants- a very expensive one which we did not patronise ( even the breakfasts are expensive), and a Tapas restaurant on the ground floor. This we did visit ,only to experience the worst meal we've had anywhere in the world! What we ordered was so bad we sent it back to the kitchen after only one bit and were not charged. Perhaps the usual chef was out of commission. Anyway, it was the only blip in an otherwise most excellent hotel- and it's position in Berlin is perfect: opposite one of the main railway stations and an easy stroll to Unter den Linden and the Galleries Lafayette where we often had breakfast or evening meals. The hotel also has little bar in the foyer- a handy coffee stop before bed as there are no facilities for making drinks in the rooms.

The car parking cost was overpriced at 20 euro per night, this price over 3nights cost nearly as much as the hire cost for the car.Only one bathrobe and slippers were in my room arrivng late at night this was rectified at my request the next day. The bar staff counld not provide me with an ice bucket on wednesday night I had to take a glass to my room for ice, not ideal for my silver aniversary!

Great location if you are looking for a tourist. If you want a quiet room ask for one over looking the river or at the back of the building.

The Sol Melia Berlin is a great hotel - really central location 2 mins from metro and a very comfortable place to stay with nice clean modern comfortable rooms! The staff were extremly friendly and very obliging. I hope to go back there soon!

A nice place, very well located. Only complaint is that the concierge appeared to know very little sbout Berlin! We in fact wasted nearly 100 euros going to a place that he recommended which had been closed down for 2 months!
