During the day, we stayed at the hotel and enjoyed the ammenities - the beach, the pools and the hammocks! At night, we went out to do some shopping and then came back for dinner at one of the hotel's restaurant which is on the beach. My family loved the resort and we are planning to go again shortly. I've shared my vacation pics with friends and co-workers and at least 2 people have already looked into staying at the Sol Melia while in Ixtapa. The combination of food, service and location made it the best vacation I've taken!

We can?t wait to go back!!! My wife and I celebrated our anniversary during this trip. The hotel is awesome; there is something to do for every age group. Alvaro and the rest of the Activity Team members will make sure you have fun. Next time we will be taking our kids with us, as they can enjoy the water park and the theme play ground (The Flintstones Land). The food was fantastic; all restaurants are great, with outstanding service. I will encourage everyone to skip the snack bar in the pool and not to miss the lunch buffet in any of the other restaurants. Not because the snack bar is bad is just that the other restaurants have wonderful lunch buffets.The fun does not stops when the sun goes down, I?m sure you will enjoy the shows and the local night life.This resort is away from the main Ixtapa area, so the beach in not crowded at all and gives you additional sense of privacy.To make a long story short, I was able to rest, have fun and enjoy every second of our anniversary trip.

The Melia Azul in Ixtapa was a great getaway experience for my husband and I, but there is something for a couple or a group. We enjoyed going kayaking, snorkeling, and taking a trip to Isla Ixtapa. Our room had a beautiful view of the ocean and the pool. Each night we saw a wonderful show and got to hear a band play in the Lobby Bar. This hotel is secluded from the others so it was not real busy in June, which we really liked. We really enjoyed our stay there and did not want to come home!

The resort was great, the staff was freindly, and the rooms were clean. The pools and water park were wonderful, plenty for my kids to do (they are 2 and 5). We didn't put them in the kids club they had, but saw the other kids many times with the activity director and the looked like they were having a ball. This is for sure a family resort, don't come thinking your getting a romantic get away, or spring break fun, 90% of the vacationers had kids with them. The food was good, the buffets were ok, but the Costa Azul where you needed a reservation was great. The one negative was that all the buffet rest. weren't always open. There were 3 but most nights only two of those were open and one night we were there only one was open. Overall I would recommend this resort to other families. Do take a day trip to Ixtapa island though, and don't book through the hotel. Just walk down the beach to the pier and for 3.50 a person you can get the water taxi round trip ticket. Once you get there there are plenty of options for food, snorkling, what ever. That was a great day!

This was our first time visiting the area. I have had good experience with Melia in the past so I was relying on the brand to assume some level of quality. However, upon arrival at the hotel, we were provided with a most substandard room. The room and its surroundings were very poorly maintained. Walls with holes, scratches, unpatched paint, stains on multiple places like a very high traffic area. The room itself was not acceptable. Walls were dirty, the upholstery on the furniture was heavily soiled and dirty, furniture pieces were beaten. Linens were very old but clean. Not happy with the setting, we complained to the front desk, and they showed us 3 more rooms in towers 1, and 2. All were the same or worse. These towers are 10 years old and they seem to be cutting corners in the upkeep. The staff showed us a room in a newer 3 year old tower (tower 3) and this was very different and fairly acceptable. Modern design, but clean, new and well maintained. They reaccomodated us in this tower and we overall enjoyed the stay. The staff behaved very well and above our expectaions on accomodating for our complains. Service was in general excellent. This was my first time on an all-inclusive resort; Well for my taste we may not repeat because although yes you do no have to pay extra, the deal is full of 'conditions' you can only use certain restaurants that are open at certain hours, and you can eat on some, a limited number of times, and you must reserve with days in advance. food in general was not bad, but for our taste was average to low quality. Almost all the places they allocate for all inclusive are buffet style which tells you the standard of food served. (I'm not a friend of buffet food) Their a-la-carte restaurant we experienced was ok. Food quality was very low. Room service was good, but you have to pay extra for it. Entertainement was 'simple' but entertaining. A couple of annoyances: They tag your wrist with a plastic color band to identify you as a member. S

The staff was so great!!!! Few spoke english, but it was okay. Closed the most dining areas once holiday was over. Need to restrict parents from letting their children hang out at swim up bar while they are no where to be found. That part I was disspointed with. Costa Azul was best dining!

This was by far the best vacation I have ever taken! The pool and staff were wonderful. The food was excellent (the fish was WONDERFUL). The drinks kept flowing. The staff was Perfect (90% spoke fluent english). We were on our honeymoon and had the time of our lives! Paradise indeed!
