Okay, you have to understand that I went to this hotel because it was cheap and I needed something quick for two days before moving to another hotel. I booked a room for $ a night while other rooms in the hotel were $ a night so something had to give right. After checking in (& they dont speak english very well), i went to my room which looked pleasant till you went to sleep. The bed wasn't a bed, but a box spring with sheets and 4 pillows (2 were with beans inside like a beanie bag). Thankfully I am a light sleeper and literally slept on the box spring for two days. Additional Beijing comments, Online travel agency i hope your listening, you MUST have the hotel name written in Chinese (NOT ENGLISH) or no one will find it. Everywhere you go in Beijing, the cab drivers need you to present where you are going in Chinese characters or you will not get to where you are going. Maps are just a suggestion but most cab drivers dont understand them. The subway really is the best way to get around so if you can figure out where you are going use the subway, its cheap (2 yuan =.30 cents USD), clean and safe. Cabs for the most part are cheap as well. This hotel is about a 20 minute cab ride from downtown and when looking on a map is between the 4th & 5th ring roads - Look at a Beijing Map and look towards the Top Left side above the Beijing Zoo about a 1/2 mile. The Beijing Commercial Hotel near Workers Stadium is another alternative budget hotel at about the same price. Look for it online at about $ USD a night.

Note that unlike what the description says "outside Xizhimen", this hotel is about a mile from Xizhimen subway station. That meant one needs a cab/bus to even get to the subway. Other than that, this hotel turned out to be pretty good. The staff is friendly and helpful, even though they all have difficulty understanding English. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Most importantly, they have a pretty good vegetarian restaurant downstairs, which proved to be very useful for a vegetarian like me in a place like Beijing. I wouldn't stay here again though simply because of the rather inconvenient location.
