Nothing has changed in this hotel since 1970's except the pricing which are definitly 2008 ! We had a triple room and our daughter had to sleep on a miserable "bed" which could have fit for a dog. A 3 stars hotel which would be a one star in France. The breakfast is also catastrophic.

Good position in the city - excellent people. Important that Mediterraneo has garage facility - very tight access, but not quite as challenging as actually driving in Palermo.

our room was spacious and quiet. The receptionist spoke at least two other languages: german and english. No facilities in the room for making hot drinks.

Pros: Very low occupation (because not good value hotel). Instant confirmation by return e-mail. Large room (three bed room). Good situation. Cons: Very bad acoustic isolation. You can hear all the noises and conversations from yor neighbors. Employees just comply; not a hint of seeking customers' satisfaction. In April no air conditioning; solution: open your window if you can stand noises and light. Breakfast barely acceptable. The bar in the hall is just a decoration; no service. No internet. Summing up: You will survive it if you have nothing else. But compare prices with other 4 stars hotels. I found cheaper rooms, but must be booked long in advance.

We paid for a triple room and were given a twin room with a camp bed. The hotel details promised air conditioning. This did not work - we were told that it was only turned on in the summer. Fortunately, the weather was not very warm, but we had to have the windows permanently open and could not sleep because of the constant traffic and people noise. The breakfast was barely adequate in an unwelcoming dining room with badly stained tableclothes. There was no hot water for the last 2 days of our stay. The hotel staff were very unhelpful and gave no appearance of concern at this. We did get a small reduction in our bill, but only after we insisted and it was given in very bad grace. This was a very disappointing stay, not cheap and not at all worthy of a 3 star rating.

The hotel itself was fine and in a very central location but was absolutely nothing special. The porter on arrival was unfriendly although the one in the morning was a lot more polite. On arrival (we called for directions but the were poor and it took two hours to find the hotel) we parked in the street (this is allowed) right outside the hotel but the porter told us we could move it to their secure parking. In the morning I was charged €12 for parking there! I usually like to stay in the centre of town but I'd recommend staying further out (try the Athaneum - it's easier to find, cheaper, just as clean, friendlier staff and free secure car parking) and getting a taxi (about €5) in when you want to visit the centre.

Good location, close to historic centre, shops. Staff unfriendly - very few spoke English. so unable to offer advice re directions, etc.Room overlooked light-well - hot and airless. Air conditioning didn't work till June! Satellite TV didn't work, so no English speaking channels available. Food very mediocre.

The hotel is situated well situated for sightseeing and shopping and night life. The furnishing and decor are rather tired but the rooms were both clean and comfortable. All in all reasonable value and fine for a short stay.

The room was comfortable and on a fairly quiet street. The decor is somewhat dated but not unpleasant. We didn't use many services as we were there only 2 nights.

air conditioner was turned off by management even though the weather was quiet warm, we were told we could not have it turned on, so opening window allowed street noise at night to keep us awake.

The hotel is OK. Refurbishment is going on, and needed. Location is good for discovering Palermo

Standards in Palermo are not too high to begin with, so I was not expecting much. But I was still very disappointed with the Mediterraneo. It is a large, tired and charmless hotel. My bedroom was lit with a flourescent light on the ceiling! The Breakfast Room is drab, and uninspiring. The Hallway carpets were worn. The desk staff were minimally friendly. There was no hint of a woman's touch anywhere in the hotel so I would not recommend it for a romantic stay. I spent two weeks in Sicily and found fine hotels in several smaller towns. The Mediterraneo charged much more money for a very pedestrian and dated product. My stay was very forgettable.
