My visit was to the VA Hospital for my husband. The room was much better than it was in 2000. Most of my time was spent at the VA, and the room was used as a stopping point, but very comfortable. The closest dinning, was a Waffle House, and they had problems. The stay was good, overall, and it was within about four blocks to the VA.

The check in was prompt and courteous. It is unclean, old and a scary environment.

The place was "old" but it was moderately clean. One of the towl racks was coming off the wall in the bathroom and the ice buckets looked like they hadn't been cleaned in years. The staff was very nice but it coulnd't make up for the experience. I was there with family and we needed to be in that area so that we could walk to the medical facilities. If I had my choice, I would have spent the extra money for a nicer hotel and got a rental car so that I could have slept in peace. The area was lit up and the police patrolled the area but it had those outside doors, no inside doors. The pool was clean and inviting, several of the guests were in there enjoying themselves. The restaraunt next door was slow and you better pray over your food so that you don't get sick if you eat there. I do understand that Birmingham is old but if you want tourism in the area they need to update things.

The travel website stated PETS ALLOWED! Checked in - No air conditioner and broken door knob. Asked for a new room because my wife and dogs were hot. "DOGS" they exclaimed. We were rejected a room. We had to drive back 120 miles, missed a birthday party, and paid 100. Asked for a refund for the travel agency by email, they referred me to call, called once, waited for 35 minutes. I was promised a call back, hum... never called. Called again today 45 minutes! Was offered a 50 voucher, huh? misrepresentation on web, 120 miles, no hotel, lose 50. yeah right. The great thing about Amex is you can dispute any charge. Bless Medical center Inn and bless every breathing soul at the travel agency. 500 says you will not post this!

This hotel would be great for short stays in Birmingham due to its great location but somewhat lack of amenities. No internet access in the rooms is a huge downside to staying here. However the rooms were very nice and the on site Waffle House cannot be beat.

Clean and friendly. Can't think of anything. Nice people, helpful, and friendly. CLEAN, nice place to stay and close to the hospital.

Hotel was last resort to stay while taking care of parent in nearby UAB. Only advantage is the proximity to UAB hospitl. Room ok clean, recent updates but hotel is very old. Pool full of kids that I wondered if were even guests. Somewhat noisy but got quite after 10PM Lot of traffic noise from interstate. As stated proximtiy to hospital and shuttel are primary advantages for hospital visits.

This is a very kind hotel. The people running the hotel was some of the nicest people I have ever met in Birmingham. They was very kind and made sure we had everything we needed. My husand had a corenea transplant and was very accommadating to our needs. Thanks so very much.

Short walk to one of the finest medical schools and hospitals in the country. Very comfortable and convenient for visiting the UAB Medical campus. The room was quiet, well appointed, and extremely convenient. The University campus surrounds the facility and is a very interesting place to visit.

Not much, it is old and dirty. Old and dirty. This hotel is old and not very well kept. It is located next to a university. It seems to gather to a younger hip hop crowd. Noisy all night. want be staying at this place again.

This was a last minute booking to go the the UT-Alabama game. Wouldn't be a recommended choice in the future and with advanced planning. It was a good location and a cozy spot, but the room was very smoky. It was not too far from the downtown area where most of the bars and clubs were located.

The room was very clean, and seemed to have been updated with new furniture and decorations recently. A cabinet for hanging clothes in addition to a dresser with drawers for storing clothes provided ample storage space. An ironing board, two suitcase stands, a small refrigerator, a coffee maker, and a hair dryer were all provided in our room. The swimming pool with lounge chairs and small bistro tables was just around the corner from our room. The staff was very helpful and recommended a restaurant where we ate dinner that night. As a matter of fact, the staff drove us to the restaurant, and gave us a number to call when we were finished. They then came to pick us up, and returned us to the hotel at no charge. The Medical Center Inn was approximately ten minutes from shopping centers and restaurants, and was located just off the Interstate, making it easy to find.
