We found the hotel itself to very pleasant. The staff, the rooms (small but nice), service and breakfast were wonderful, but I would not stay at this hotel again because the area was filthy.

The hotel and staff were wonderful. It was clean, and the staff ensured our stay was enjoyable. There was one thing the hotel and staff had no control about, and that was the area between the hotel and "A" line metro stop. We walked this two block walk daily. The men hanging around gauking at us and the overall grime of the area gave our vaction an element we were not looking for. So if you are thinking about this hotel, it is a very nice, clean hotel, in a bad location.

Great Location, clean and well maintained. Higher end fixtures in bathrooms. Rooms were small compared to US standards, but larger then most in Europe. Air Condition was not available since they felt it was off session, yet it was 75 degrees outside. Nice roof top bar and friendly staff at bar. All in all good value but don't expect much from the front desk staff.

Reservation got confused so they gladly put me up in an associated hotel for one night then moved me, moving my bags for me. Great service from the front desk so I gave them a 10. The rooftop terrace is a great evening respite from the craziness and July heat. The bath was decent, the bed comfortable for one, and the air con pretty good. The location is near the train and right by a tourist bus stop. The room was a little noisy, but not bad until the maids came through at 8:00 pounding on doors rather than using the quiet doorbells. Then I felt the breakfast wait staff were slow and unconcerned, especially slow to clear tables on the open-air/warmer/around the corner side of the terrace where nearly everyone wanted to sit.

There are two types of rooms- one in the main hotel building one in side annex. The annex rooms are quite large, modern and nice. They feel more like an apartment than a hotel. The hotel itself (in the main building) however is decorated in green velvet etc. The location is great for getting to the main train station, and is located on a safe street.

Everything at the Mecenate was excellent. Breakfast on the rooftop was a fabulous treat. All of the employees were helpful and welcoming. The rooms were charming and amazingly quiet given the location. It is very convenient to Termini Station (walking distance) and also to the hop-on-hop-off tour buses that stop at Plaza San Maggiore. There is a taxi stand nearby which is convenient and good selection of restaurants in the area. The only problem I had involved arranging for a car when we left. The car service that the hotel arranged for was >1 hour late, at which point we just took cabs instead.

My mom and I stayed at this hotel for a week as we toured Rome. Though the room was smaller than we expected, it was still adequate for our needs. The staff was friendly and most of them spoke perfect English and were very willing to help us book tours or shuttle rides as we needed them. We took the train to Termini station to get to the hotel, but took the hotel's offered shuttle back to the airport, which was very helpful. The hotel is extremely close to all the sights as well as the train station, so we were able to walk to everything and were not dependent on taxis or buses to get around. We didn't realize there was a complementary breakfast service until our last day, but greatly enjoyed it when we went. It was a great trip all around.

We booked and prepaid through the travel website for our last night through Rome on our way back from a week in Sorrento. The hotel had no record of our reservation and claimed they were completely booked. I showed them my travel website reservation, and the front desk agent said that they had obviously lost the reservation and would arrange to put us up in a different hotel a few blocks away (Hotel Genova). I was suspicious when he noted that we "had only booked for one night", as if to say that this should not be considered a problem. I can't help but be suspicious that our "one night" was not going to be as profitable for them, so they bumped us. The Hotel Genova is fairly stark with an extraordinarily impersonal staff. It's located on Via Cavour, which is one of the major throroughfares through Rome. There was lots of traffic noise most of the night (one of the things we were trying to avoid by staying at the Mecante). I've rated the Mecante as "terrible" only because we were turned away after having paid for the pleasure of staying there.

Good location, nice decor, but very small rooms and overall more amenities are needed to justify the high price such as better breakfast and free wireless.

Excellent location, convenient to Metro and Termini train station, and hop-on hop-off buses. Walkable to some tourist sights. Rooms were large by European standards, and kept very clean. Towel warming bars were appreciated. Large grocery story very near. Good continental breakfast served every day, with hot items available to purchase. Tried the restaurant for dinner one rainy evening, and it was ok, but not great. Super staff, reliable elevator. Great rooftop terrace.

We found the hotel staff to be friendly and helpful. The hotel is pretty and conveniently located near the train station. Also located right by the Church with the most melodic bell towers in Rome which sounded pretty. The roof top restaurant was nice but food could have been better. Our pasta sauce tasted more like chef boy than home made. Overall, the room was comfortable, although a little small. The bathroom was spacious. The service of the staff was great. We would recommend this hotel to others and would stay again.

We found the Mecenate Palace to be very conveniently located between the termini and the metro stops. The staff, particularly Carlo (at the desk) were friendly and helpful. The decor was lovely, particularly the apothecary jars everywhere. It is quiet and restful, with great views from the windows. The bathroom was luxurious and we were very comfortable. Thank you for a great stay in Rome!

The rooms and the bed are excessively very little. I think that some rooms are single and they put 2 people. The others services and the situation are OK

The Mecanante Palace Hotel is very conveniently located 4 blocks from the Roma Termini. Americans need to know that European hotels are singles and doubles, meaning they have bed space for one or two. They don't have two double beds. So when traveling with kids 1) they bill you by the number of folks in the room and 2) they have to move in extra beds for you. The staff was nice but was ill informed on the visiting hours for say. The coliseum, insisting that it was not open on Sunday, which it was. So they could be more tourist friendly, with recommendations for purchasing food and water, restaurant ratings etc. Just a different, less wanting to please vibe than I have seen in other locales.

I found the hotel to be very nice. The room was large and very well kept and clean. The front desk staff was always very accommodating with any questions, directions, inquiries. It was located close to the train station, to the Metro station and to major streets for transportation to various sites. There was a cafe conveniently located at the corner for outdoor dining. It met my expectations.

Excellent hotel. Only negative - hotel initially charged our stay in US dollars rather than euros on credit card. If we didn't catch this and tell them we wanted the credit card rather than the hotel to determine the conversion rate, our overall cost would have been 5% higher.

I thought I was a bit expensive for the size of the room. However, it was centrally located and the breakfast was very nice on the roof garden. Only ate dinner once and it was very expensive and quite tasteless. Staff was nice and it was very clean and well taken care of - hardly any room for luggage or to move around though. My wife had to climb over me to get into the small double bed which was up against a wall. Overall experience was good.
