Hotel Mayaland Resort has 30 rooms and three suites in its main house. In addition, individual, dual and three-unit villas are nestled among the trees and flowers of the beautifully landscape hotel. Handcarved woodwork of local timbers and delicate stained glass complete the Mayan decoration. The 13 bungalows seem an extension of the gardens in which they are located: all of them have terraces overlooking the swimming pools and beautiful landscape gardens. All accommodations have air conditioning, attached bath & shower, hair dryers and in-room coffee makers.

We loved staying at Mayaland. The grounds were absolutely gorgeous and it was a wonderful experience to be able to explore Chitzen Itza through our private entrance. We walked to the night show and entered the ruins in the morning, swam for several hours in the middle of the day, and went back to ruins later in the afternoon after the tourists left. It was a wonderful place. My husband and I travel extensively and I would rate Mayaland among my favorites.

Only spent one night but would love to go back. Hotel was very clean and comfortable. Grounds were impeccable and the staff was exceptionally helpful. Really enjoyed the access to the park. Went to the night show-fantastic! The whole hotel was truly charming. You don't feel like you could be in any generic hotel room or location. We felt like we were in a foreign country enjoying the culture. We went from here to a 5 star hotel in Cancun that could have been any upscale hotel in Florida-great but no atmosphere!We are defintely going back to spend more time at the Mayaland hotel and the Chichen Itsa site.Definetly recommend this to any one who wants something a little different!Have to mention that I left my purse in the hotel restuarant. Went back 2 hours later in a panic, but everything was there! The staff had put it behind the front desk for me. Had all our money and passports in it!!

The Mayaland Hotel and Bungalows is a very impressive property in an exotic, dramatic and beautiful setting. It reminded me of Thailand or Cambodia with the tropical plantings and gracious environment. The Chichen-Itza observatory is visible from the bar and some of the rooms at night, courtesy of a flood light from the hotel. We stayed in the hotel, and the room and bathrooms was spacious. the mood was one of grace and elegance. Service in the restaurant was slow and there was a lot of confusion about paying in the restaurant or charging things to one's room.

Although this hotel is in a great location to visit the ruins and the overall staff is freindly and helpful, a word of warning. We stayed here for three days in Oct & had prepaid the hotel. On checkin they required a credit card to make an impression in case of room charges. They would not take American Express so I gave them a Visa I use only when AmEx is not accepted. The card was never used again in Mexico. This month I received the Visa bill with 28,800 in charges, all within 2 hours drive from this hotel and all in a three week period of time beginning shortly after my departure from this hotel. If staying at this hotel, you would be wise to monitor your credit card activity after your stay. On another note, the food is extremely pricey for the quality. Problem is, there really isn't too many options in the area. Piste is a very small town with limited eating establishments.

This is a beautiful hotel, in a gorgeous setting, very befitting of it's location right next to the ruins. We were there only one night and wished we could have stayed longer.

The location is awesome! I felt like I was staying in a beautiful jungle garden. Birds everywhere. Very quiet when we were there. Loved the restaurant. The cabins were very nice. We went to a 5* resort the next day, but I prefered the Mayaland. I was great being able to see the ruins before any crowds arrived. We hired a guide for 2 hours. I would definitley stay here again, although my back might object to the extremely hard beds.

The staff is very friendly and accomodating and the rooms, location next to Chichen and grounds are unbeatable. Our only objection is that, for the money, it needs to run a bit smoother. We had a couple of plumbing problems (they were eager to please and upgraded the room)) and they never let you know when certain eating/drinking locations would be open or closed at any given time. Also, there are no phones in the rooms/bungalows so, to report any problems you have to hike to the front desk; not a show-stopper, but annoying.

The hotel was beautiful and you couldn't beat the fact you walk to the ruins. We were upgraded to the bungalos and they are great. You are in your own tropical jungle...even peacocks parade throughout.
