This is a great hotel for a romantic couple. The pictures do not really show you how nice this hotel is. It's by the far the most beautiful hotel on big island that I've seen. The nice thing about the hotel is that is manages to be luxurious, yet retains some Hawaiian charm with it's styling. I've staying in many of the worlds best hotels, and there aren't many times you walk out the door feeling that everything about your experience was perfect. The rooms are excellent, and the service it first class. For a midsize hotel it makes you feel like royalty when you walk out the front door and the valet is already pulling your car around because they recognized you walking down the hall. They upgrade your room without asking and for free because they are not full. I hate it when you check into a 5 star hotel and they charge you to use all the facilities that made it a 5 star hotel to begin with. None of that here. You use everything for free. They also have the best restaurant we ate at during our stay on the Big Island.

This is the best resort my wife and I have ever stayed. The staff are excellent and eager to please. On our check-in, they upgraded our room without our even asking. We had a garden view that was a partial ocean view on the first floor. The walk out double doors to the beautifully landscaped grounds were lovely, and the multitude of fish ponds make for an idyllic setting. Rooms are large, the beds and pillows extremely comfortable, and staff very responsive and eager to please. The snorkeling from the beach club was as good as any we found on the island, almost as good as the best recommended areas, and so convenient! The drinks were excellent, and the food at the ocean view was good, not great. We did not eat at the Canoe House. Drinks and food were pricey, but the staff and ambience more than makes up for it. Not much in the way of evening entertainment, but just walking around the beach and fish ponds or swinging in a hammock on the beach make for a great relaxing time. The fitness center and lap pools are outstanding. I definitely recommend the Mauna Lani and will visit again!

This was the best experiance I have had traveling with children. Not to mention that it was so beautiful. It provides private beaches and a great place to go snorkeling. They have activities throught the day to entertain everyone. They also provide a camp for the kids to go and discover fun things throughout the day. They also provide wonderful babysitters for the parents who want to enjoy an evening without kids. The staff is wonderful. By the time I left, I felt like I have known these people forever. I was not surprised to find that so many people vacationed there every year and would not think of going anywhere else. They make you feel like your home. I was fortunate to stay in one of there condos 101A (which is the best of all the condos). The kids loved waking up in the morning and going out the sliding doors to a huge grassy area. Great place and I cant wait to go again.

Don't miss the hot rock lomi lomi massage at the spa. It was fantasic. As were the nightly sunsets. In 2008, we saw the green flash from the Mauna Lani beach. Great snorkeling down at the second beach inlet. This was my second trip because the staff and facility was so great. You never have to leave. The biggest decision is, "Should I hang out at the beach today? Or, the pool?" While on the beach/pool in a personal cabana, servers will take your drink/food order and deliver it. Does life get better than that? There were 6 of us traveling and celebrating 4 birthdays and a 25th wedding anniversary. We got special goodies each night to mark the occasions.

All I have to say is WOW. From the time we walked into the Hotel until we left it was first class all the way. We renewed our vows and they were so helpful. You get a first class Hotel without the feel of a Corporate Resort. Hands down the best on the Island. Thanks

The Mauna Lani is a beautiful hotel. The gardens and beaches are superb. Wonderful golf and walking trails. The rooms at the hotel are pristine and updated asian decor is lovely. Service was great. Food is excellent. A little entertainment in the evening would have been nice.

This Hotel was absolutely fabulous in every aspect of our stay. The Hotel Staff went out of their way to make our stay pleasant including almost never letting us carry a bag. The golf was fantastic at the two on premises golf courses. You can store your clubs at the clubhouse if you're playing several days, plus the hotel staff will take them over for you when you arrive if you want. The level of service was second to none. Hotel rooms, dining, and activities were all very nice.

Our stay at the Mani Lani Bay Resort was Awesome. The place is absolutely beautiful. The staff was so friendly and the service was great. The grounds were beautiful. Having your own private beach is a plus. We would highly recommend this hotel to everyone.

Spa was great but pricey as expected. Rooms were a bit outdated but the hotel was beautiful. Got upgraded to ocean view at no charge which was nice but expected more from the room at a hotel of this caliber.

Compared to the other resorts we saw on the Big Island, this hotel was the most beautiful. We had an ocean front room that was well appointed and clean. Staff was very accomadating rearranging activity schedules to meet our schedule. There was plenty to do at the resort and good activites for kids. The beach bar grill is great but skip the Canoe House. Also skip the Luau's.

Everything was 1st class including prices: if you eat here (@2): 60 for casual dining, 40 bkfst and >120 at Canoe House & 5 bottles of water in the room. Ocean view rooms are distant from the surf & partly obscured by trees. If you don't spring for the ocean front then I'd get the garden view. Rooms are large, clean, well maintained and with all the amenities. Bath has his & hers vanity areas. Refrigerator, radio/CD, TV, umbrella, robes, slippers all provided. Nice lanai area. Staff, service and food were all uniformly excellent. Enjoyed it!

Mauna Lani is conveniently located on prime property with tremendous history and cultural significance to the Hawaians. The thought and preparation to preserve this property and enable the guest to enjoy it is exceptional. The director of cultural affairs has an office in the hotel and is active in educating those interested. There are multiple beaches available with staff and accomodations for snorkel, scuba, sunset cruises and nature walks. We took time to hike Mauna Kea, take in the volcanoes, soak up the sun, and thoroughly relax in this very nuturing and healing environment.

This hotel had been recommended by family members who had stayed there recently and it lived up to the billing. From the moment we were greeted at the front door with complimentary leis, ice cold water with fresh strawberries and lemons soaking in it, and a valet who offered to park our car in guest parking and bring us the keys so we could avoid the $21/ night valet charges, the staff at the Mauna Lani set the tone for our stay. We were given a complimentary room upgrade to ocean front (likely a function of traveling during a very down time but appreciated nonetheless) and the room was immaculate. All the staff made every effort to learn our names and greet us personally. HIGHLIGHTS: The morning brunch was 5 star with varitey every day and some home run staples like fresh waffles and omelettes. A nearly empty beach front meant we had our choice of hammocks or cabanas at all times (again, likely due to the downturn, but still wonderful). Complementary snorkel gear and reasonably priced workout classes. It is a secluded resort with not a ton of activities, but it is perfect if you're looking to unwind without the hustle and bustle of the bigger resorts. We walked next door to the Fairmont Orchid and it seemed positively restless by comparison. Again, we may have hit it at the perfect time, but the Mauna Lani offered the perfect, relaxing retreat that we were hoping for!

The Mauna Lani was beyond our expectations! The staff was always ready to help us and very friendly. Check in was a breeze and the grounds were beautiful. Our son loved the staff and activities at the Kids Kamp and we enjoyed the beach front, restaurants and shopping which is very close by. We liked how it was a short drive to everything we wanted to do, including Kona and Hilo.

This is the best hotel in Hawaii! It's beautiful, environment friendly and a great value! The hotel staff are all extremely friendly, helpful and lowkey. There are no extra charges and even freebies such as bike rental, snorkel gear rental and a shuttle around the complex. It's also very child friendly with many fish ponds and free toys. The restaurants are pricey like all Hawaii hotels, but the food here is well worth it. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to splurge on a wonderful Hawaii vacation!
