Unfortunately the thing I did not like is I had to pay to park my car at the hotel or I could park it in the lot next door. I also thought I paid for a Garden View...well you could see the garden over the parking lot. Also had to pay for the local phone calls. It was right on the ocean though..very nice.

The staff and hotel were great. The hotel is a lot like a supper 8 hotel, on a budget it perfect. We had to pay for parking that was not always available.

This hotel was very conveniently located in central Maui about a mile from the Kahului airport. It is right on the harbor where the cruise ships park with a small beach right outside the window. The rooms are bare bones, but what more do you need when you want to spend your time on the beach? I especially appreciated the hotel letting us use the pool and a courtesy room to shower and clean up in as we had to check out about nine hours before our redeye flight left. Pool is beautiful but was COLD.

I have family living in Maui and this was the perfect place to stay.. I stayed for 11 nights and truly enjoyed every one of them !! The staff was very polite and helpful..the hotel was older but very neat and clean..and close to everything you could want.. Their restaurant, The Coconut Grill is very good, a little pricey, but good..and again the staff was great !! As a single woman traveling alone, I felt safe and secure at all times. I was out and about during the day and was always greeted when I returned.. one day as I was leaving, the security guard wished me a good day.. and on returning, there he was greeting me and telling me he saw I had returned safe and sound!! How many hotels can say this ?? My best part of being at the Maui Seaside Hotel was being able to walk right out on the beach. every morning I took a nice walk and got to see the sunrise.. what a sight !! I think the only thing I disliked was having to leave.. Maui is beautiful and can't wait to return.. and when I do will stay here

This is the 2nd time I've stayed at this hotel. The staff is always friendly. The location is great because it's right on the beach and it's about 2 miles from the airport. It may not be "upscale" like the hotels in Ka'anapali, but it serves its purpose. It was a place to stay, it was right on the beach and there are places to eat there in the hotel and close by. If you're looking for a decent place to stay, this hotel can't be beat for the money. If you're looking for more upscale then this isn't the hotel for you.

We had to forfeit our night at the Maui Seaside due to airline maintenance issues which caused us to miss our connections to Maui. We did not get to stay, but already paid.

Right on the beach. 1 block to shopping centre were you can get a bus that will take you just about any were for free or $1. Our cleaner was the BEST. Will stay here again next year. Older hotel but we were at the pool, beach or shopping. Very clean.

The room was very clean & large. Had a frig in the room but wish there was a coffee maker. The only bad thing was the parking, not much of it, and a pain to get out of some of the spots. The resturant was very nice, a little pricy but worth the amount of food. Friendly service everywhere! Hotel check in and check out was real easy, A great place to stay, close to the city.

Staying overnight in the Seaside is ideal if you've got limited time to see as much of Maui as possible. Considering the vast amount of things to do on the island, we opted for modest lodging vs. a resort. We were simply more interested in snorkeling, whale-watching, hiking, and touring the coastlines than whatever amenities the more expensive places might offer. If you can't wait to see what figurines room service might wrap your towels into, this is probably not for you. On the other hand, if you have the stomach for road trips, the Seaside's central location is fairly close to everything. (Word to the wise: pack some Dramamine if you take the Road to Hana.)Still there is a hidden gem at this hotel. Breakfast at the Coconut Grill should make the front page of Frommer's. The staff was obliging and eager to please and the food was A++++. Even if you aren't staying at the hotel, the omelets and coffee are worth a detour.

Close to airport. Charged for parking decor not updated very 70's This hotel was fair for one night but I wouldn't recommend it for a whole vacation stay. We booked one night because our flight got in late and we rented a home on the beach near Lahaina the rest of the time. We also wanted to make a Costco run the next day and this hotel is very near Costco. Vacationers would not even feel they were in Hawaii at this hotel. My brother called it seedy but I wouldn't go that far. We went for location and price for one night.

Pros: The Maui Seaside hotel was centrally located on the island, meaning if you don't have a car, and you have a lot of places to see they are usually one or two buses away ($1 per bus). The hotel itself on the outside was acceptable... it did have a pool, it served continental breakfasts (which I didn't try). The staff working there were *okay*. Cons: The rooms at the hotel were very small, and only included a refrigerator standard (no hair dryer, microwave, DVD player, etc). While only being a bus ride away, it was an hour bus ride to the east side of the island (really if we went on the trip again we would stay there) where all of tourist attractions were (the south side is not someplace I would recommend going, and the west is a long trip, but has nice views along the way). While being on the shore, there is no actual beach that is within 3 miles from the hotel. Also, there was literally nothing to do, tourist wise, in Kahului, Maui. The beds that you slept on were not comfortable at all, almost to the point where we couldn't sleep.

This wonderful quite and friendly hotel in Kahului was the perfect economical place for us. The staff gave up its freezer so we could freeze fresh poi to bring home. The staff was friendly, helpful and just very nice. I would stay here again rather than Kihei or Lahaina.

If your going to Maui for one thing, to see Maui, not your hotel in Maui this is an awesome place to stay. The beach here is OK but little dirty as it's part of the port, but you get to see some cool ships come in, or if your going on a cruise it's right there. Centrally located to tour Maui in every direction is a major bonus, Haleakela for sunrise you can get another hour of sleep than if you stay in Lahaina. The Iao needle is in site from the hotel, it's a no frills place to stay in paradise. We loved it, just to be different the next time we go we might stay in Kehei just because there is more to do at night within walking distance. The first thing you need to get is a small cooler for the car and pack food and drinks as some of the places get a little steap for beverages because they know you'll pay. The road to Hana great drive, but not for the weary or timid drivers or you'll get run over by locals, or dump trucks if you drive the speed limit. Must stop at Keanae Landing Fruit stand for banana bread and smoothies just off the beaten path on the way to Hana, it's way better than Halfway to Hana and cheaper. We went back twice just for this place, and it's a 1-2 hour drive just to there. By the way your dreaming if your going to make Hana in 3 hours unless your power driving and skipping numerous overlooks. And get a Jeep it's the only way to do Maui because some of the waterfalls along the way it was really nice to have a 4x4.

We would stay there again, primarily because of the location (convenient to OGG, a big mall across the street, several food choices nearby), the fact we found the hotel clean and comfortable, albeit with minimum amenieties: no hair dryer in room (but maybe available upon request--we didn't ask), ice 'bucket' was a large styrofoam cup to use to get ice from the ice machine a floor above. Our 'mountain view room' had the mountain view obscured by a 10 ft hedge just outside the window. Also, compared with surrounding hotels, it's one of the least expensive. The staff is very accommodating and tries hard to please. The weather was off and on, windy and rainy so the location on the beach had little attractiveness. But, overall, we were pleased with the hotel and would probably stay there again. Our flight was scheduled for a 10 p.m. departure and the staff was agreeable to a 4 p.m. late checkout for a modest charge. (Gave us extra time to pack, relax before heading to OGG) --gm
