Very, very basic, could do with a makeover inside but really nice helpful staff. Location was excellent, the best part of Marseilles -which is not a very pretty city. For the price I would have expected the place to be a bit less grotty. Had 4 young children and they gave us adjoining rooms which had proved hard to find. Easy access to shopping, dining and the metro, 2 stops from Gare St. Charles

PERFECT location BUT pretty dirty and crusty rooms. Marseilles in general is pretty dirty we found and we're not that picky.

The staff was friendly and the lobby was clean. The rooms however were a little crusty on the edges. We had a beautiful view of the Port, but the carpets were stained badly, the furniture was well past worn, and there was a bit of crust in the bathroom. We were only there for one evening so it was fine, for the price we paid. The really nice thing was that a wonderful breakfast was available for 6 euros, but for one more euro you could get it delivered to your room - and that was well worth it! The metro station is literally outside the door and there are a ton of shops and restaurants all around the Porte. I recommend the Mascotte Vieux Port Hotel Marseille (and Marseille for that matter) for a night, but don't expect to be comfortable there for a week.

Very nice location, next to the "vieux port". Unfortunately, the elevator was out of oder and our room was on the fifth floor. The room itself was clean but a bit outmoded. It needed a good coat of white paint, new beadspreads and curtains which were dusty and very faded. Breakfast was very good and plentiful but it was 9 euros and not included.

We requested a triple room for 2 adults and a 15-year-old boy. While the room was spacious, it was on the top floor and provided no windows except for those on the ceiling. The room was clean but the bedspread and other furniture had holes in it. Compared to other properties I stayed at in Provence, it was a bit more shabby.

The advantage this property is location. It is right on the Vieux Port and as I was traveling with an elderly person it was fantastic for accessing many of the tours and sights. However the hotel was a little more run down than I had expected and the closest public parking was a fair walk away.

Carpet in bedroom a bit threadbare. Breakfast excellent. Staff exceptionally friendly & helpful. Situation of hotel could not be better. Large bed, bedroom & bathroom with 2 French windows & balconies with view of Vieux Port.

All things considered, this is a perfectly adequate hotel with an outstanding location. Not a luxury stay, but the staff was extremely accomodating and friendly.

The hotel is in a great position, right beside the old port, and the accomodation was fine but the hotel had rather a grey theme - grey rooms, a vast grey staircase.... it felt oddly oppressive.

Stay here! The location is fantastic! The hotel is in the heart of Vieux Port and you can walk to other surrounding areas. The metro is also right across the street. There couldn't be a more central location. The hotel room was nice, good size and the bathroom was one of the biggest I've seen in France. The rooms have air conditioning and a little balcony with a partial view of the port. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. I have no complaints about the hotel or our stay.

Room was very large. Carpeting was worn & bedspreads were faded. But the location was fabulous for access to subway/train station, tourist rides (bus, tram), shopping areas, museums, restaurants, etc. The only downside to the location was city morning noises if you are a light sleeper. Breakfast was very good & the staff was very helpful & professional.

Difficult to find !Rooms not conducive to elaxation after a long journey. It needs to re-consider its name as view of the port was very limited.Better maps of the surrounding area and proximity to ferry port would have been useful.Breakfast was very expensive and a small cafe next door was far better
