SatisfactoryGood sized room, clean. Good location. Scant and badly cooked food. We had no cold tap for the duration of our stay.

Nice friendly staff and a good breakfast. The room was nice and clean but quite small. The main problem was that they dont serve food on a Sunday night and neither does the only other pub in the village- it is only a 2 mile drive to Stratford though. Over all it was good value for money as we only paid £40.00 for the two of us.

The accomodation was excellent, spotlessly clean. The proprieter was very pleasant and only too happy to be of service. The breakfast menu was varied and the food was piping hot and well served in the pleasant dining room. As we were only there for B and B we had no need to sample any other food but there was again a good restaurant and bar snack menu. the inn itself is a couple of miles from Stratford and very close to the Park and Ride for the town.

What a fantastic placeArrived slightly earlier than planned but this wasn't an issue. There is a new manager in place - Ann Marie - and she and her staff were fantastic. The bar food on Friday lunch was excellent as was the food in the restaurant section in the evening. We ate there both nights and the only issue the first night was that the staff were perhaps a little over-attentive but feedback was given and taken in a positive manner and things were much better on the Saturday evening. Breakfast was also excellent - choice of full English (not 4 items as I read in previous review under old management) or kippers! And... saving the best til last - we were given the Romeo and Juliet suite - it was a lovely room with lounge area and the bathroom had a jacuzzi!! All in all, a fantastic experience and one I would recommend you try. Ann Marie was extremely helpful and I couldn't rate her or her staff highly enough!!!

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel very much.We were accompanied by visitors from Spain who we were taking to Stratford for the day.We took a train from the local station to avoid traffic.[less than 10mins]The staff were very friendly and helpful and one of them even joined our attempts to speak Spanish! The restaurant food was good and there was also a very decent bar menu. Our room had a large and very comfortable four poster bed and was very tastefully furnished. We would definately stay in this hotel again.

A Peaceful havenMy husband and I have just returned from a two day stay at the Mary Arden hotel. It is rated as AA 4star. It has TV, tea and coffee facilities, hairdryer, iron and ironing board and internet access in the ensuite bedrooms. The hotel is under new management and it was obvious to us that every effort was being made to present the hotel as well as possible to the visiting clientele. The new manager will not be happy until she has got the place looking and running as she would like. The hospitality was exceptionel. Nothing was too much trouble and guests are given a key to let themselves in when returning late. The food was excellent- we had breakfasts on two mornings and an evening dinner. All the food was well presented and beautifully cooked. It is in a small peaceful village setting which was great to return to in the evening after the hustle and bustle of Stratford on Avon which is only three miles away. There is a regular bus service from opposite the hotel and a train station just a few minutes walk away.Highly recommended.

Lovely, friendly country inn with excellent roomsStayed for two nights over the very sunny bank holiday weekend. Peaceful village setting, very friendly and helpful staff and beautiful room with four poster bed. Lovely to hear distant farmyard sounds in the morning from the Mary Arden's House farm opposite. Also great to be able to take an open-topped bus into Stratford-on-Avon from nearby, taking in most of the Shakespeare sights en route or one stop by train. We'll be back!

A quiet retreat near StratfordExcept for having to find someone to man reception,( there was no bell to summon assistance), this was a quiet, comfortable and very attractive place to stay. Staff were courteous and helpful.

BrilliantThe room was far bigger than expected, was clean and very well decorated. The bathroom was lovely. The staff were all very friendly and in general there was a welcoming atmosphere from the staff and locals which made you feel like you were local rather than a guest. If we go back to Stratford again we will definitely stay here!

Overall experience disappointing. Staff friendly and welcoming but housekeeping poor and identical very basic restaurant menu two nights running caused us to eat elsewhere on the second night. Hotel well placed for visiting Stratford by train (hourly service) which is an advantage.

Very nice room. However it was a little noisy possibly because it was over the main door of the pub.The food was nice for your average meat eater but veggie alternative was not very good

Fantastic hotelBeautiful inn/hotel, we were given the Romeo and Juliette suite. I'd say it has to be one of the most romantic rooms I have ever seen, gorgeous old four poster bed with furniture which complimented it perfectly. The bathroom had a massive corner bath with jacuzzi. We felt like royalty staying in such an oppulant room. Staff were nice, friendly and helpful. good english breakfast. Beautiful surroundings. The perfect place to stay if you're visiting Stratford. Would highly recommend to everyone.
