Stayed here for 4 nights end of March and had a great time. Staff went out of there to accomodate us and book tours, even offered private tour to Manuel Antonio beach. We booked adventure tours and volcano tours through the hotel as well. I would recommend it to anyone. Neighborhood grille next door with zoo across the street. 15 minutes from airport. Internet access. Clean rooms. Beautiful pool area. Complimentary breakfast in the morning was nice.

This place is so cute and kitschy. It?s an old world Italian villa in the middle of Costa Rica. The rooms are large and comfortable with private balconies. The pool area is great. Dinner was fantastic and a great value. They have a large collection of Costa Rican wood dishes at very good prices. All this and only 20 minutes to the airport (there wasn?t any traffic that day). I would definitely stay here again.

Hotel is older, but the rooms were clean and the value for the money was good. It's about 10 minutes away from San Jose airport, so not a bad place to stay if you need to be close to the airport.

this hotel is located in no man's land far from evry thing, the rooms are far from the front desk and the resturant ,you have to climb about 80 stairs to get there (but it is a good excercise) . roaches and ants and musiquetos are every where they are the only alive greatures in that hotel, they have no casino , you are trapped if you want to go to the nearest store or casino or anywhere it will cost you $10 or more and 10 to 15 minutes to get there the wake up calls are terible the food is expensive (you better bring your own food or you will be broke ) $3for there local beer or $7 for an import ones and it is not cold ..the roof is made of galvanizer and you can here the rain drops so load you want be able to sleep, if you are older you want make it from the room to the front desk ,if you are with your kids they may get lost,if you are single you will be pulling your hair no body to talk to any way dont go there i have to cancel the last 2 nights of my stay there and went down town to san jose where life is and i had a great time ,but i have to pay,,travelocity and the hotel refuse to reimburse me for the terrible stay and the loss of my last 2 nights ..make yourself a favor dont go to that hotel

Hotel Martino is a wonderful hotel in the middle of everything in Costa Rica. This hotel is great, and the pool is great. The service is great, and yes they do speak English. The van from the airport to the hotel is free, you should just tip the driver. The zoo across the street is $5.00 for entrance (buy your tickets at the hotel) and it is a wonderful zoo full of monkey's, birds, and great wildlife. There is a wonderful authentic Costa Rican restaurant down the street, on the corner where the road forks from the main road onto the road that the hotel is on. The beach (Jaco) is only less than (2 hours from this hotel). Use the tour company Expeditions Tropical because they will pick you up from the hotel. I suggest The Arenal Volcano and Hot Springs Tour. They offer (2 meals, a tour of the volanco, and entrance to the resort style hot springs for under $100.00 / person. This includes everything. Another tour that I would recommed is the Adventure Combo tour which includes white water river rafting and a canoy zip-line tour. This is $100.00 / person also, and this day is full of fun. The white water rafting is great for beginners. If you want advanced, come back in December when the water in the river is more powerful. The zip-line tour is scary at first, but this is one of the safest because they have two cables supporting your weight. Staying at this hotel was wonderful. The safe is free to use, the restaurant is wonderful, the staff is friendly, the facility is made of hard wood, and this hotel is like a bed and breakfast. Free internet. Staying here was the best ! ! ! ! !

The Free Breakfast was minimal or fruits not fresh. Rooms had aunts all over the floor, walls needed painting. First room, center rug was stained dirty, no wash towels, bed spread had cigarette burn mark, and this was a junior suites, Paddle court not operational, Nature trails locked with a chain, The five-star gourmet restaurant I ordered one thing and got another so I just ate it instead of waiting 20 minutes more. The Martino is easier to get to from the airport. The pool was the best part even thou I didn't get in.

My husband & I stayed here our 1st night in Costa Rica. We have never been to the country before and did not know what to expect. The hotel has a free shuttle form the airport that is really a cab that is paid for. We left the airport terminal, looking a bit confused and were soon shown the way (at first I felt like we were being scammed but not to worry). The hotel was behind an electric gate and some what unimpressive at first glance. The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. The grounds were filled with flowers and plants the pool was beautiful but I did not swim. The gym was large and the equipment nice but I don't feel it was cleaned everyday. The spa was nice (had a treatment). The restuarant was great. I think my favorite meal of the trip was here. I wish I had stayed here our last night. For the money it was worth it.

"STAYED AT SEVERAL HOTELS WITH HIGHER RATINGS, COULD NOT SEE WHY HOTEL MARTINO WAS NOT HIGHER. THE STAFF WAS VERY COOPERATIVE, THE BEDS WERE GREAT, THE DINING WAS FANTASTIC. ALWAYS RECEIVED CORRECT INFO WHEN ASKED, WENT ABOVE QUESTIONS TO GET MAPS TO SHOW DIRECTIONS. EASY TO GET TO FROM AIRPORT, SECURE PARKING, GROUNDS ARE BEUTIFUL. WHEN YOU GET OFF A LONG FLIGHT YOU DONOT WANT TO HAVE A SURPRISE. I BELEIVE THIS HOTEL WILL MEET EVERYONE'S REQUIREMENTS."

"The Martino is easier to get to from the airport, and has a bird zoo (that you MUST visit) close by. Its a beautiful hotel, a bit fancier than we'd like, but not a problem, we were infact on vacation. So, we tried to go thru the hotel for travel arrangments and they wanted to WAY overcharge us for a trip we wanted. We ended up flying to the city because it was cheaper than their VAN service would have been. Restaurant is...okay. Not much variety, and after a few days it'll get old. Breakfast was also okay, but better than other places we've stayed. "

"I booked the reservation for Hotel Martino based on the reviews from other travelers and was not disappointed. The rooms were spacious, the bed was comfortable, food was excellent and the service was great. Be sure and make time for the spa and jacuzzi. They will pick you up at the airport for $8.00. Off-season is definitely the way to go; no crowds, low prices, and rainy afternoons are a minor inconvenience. "
