nice character hotelnice hotel, clean and tidy. Can't comment on the grounds as it didn't stop raining!Room was neat and tidy but showing signs of age (towel rail was kept together by Sellotape).

Wouldn't stay here again...or recommend....dreadful stay!We had a decent stay on Friday evening, but it went rapidly down hill from there on in! We were not informed of a wedding on the second night - despite making the reservation 5 weeks earlier! The hotel wrote to us informing us of an upgrade, but not of the wedding disco (in the marquee next to our room) that went on until 12.25am! We attempted to order 24 hour room service (as described in the guest information) at 10pm, only to be informed the kitchen closes at 9:30pm. We asked for a sandwich or snack - and received what only can be described as a 'wedding day buffet left over' an hour later....curled and dried out sandwich @ over £12 for 8 small triangles of cardboard. No response to our complain. Breakfast ok, but expensive for what you get. Hotel would be ok if you have low expectation and standards.

This hotel is pretty good value for money. The rooms are okay for a 1 or 2 night stay and the food is excellent.

Some aspects of the rooms are becoming a little tired and/or dated.Beyond the restaurant and bar the hotel has no more facilities than a travelodge/premier travel inn, so prices, especially when not discounted are not brilliant value for money.

Nice quiet hotel (as long as your room is overlooking the courtyard), really good food and friendly staff. Food in the hotel is excellent as is the food at the local Dog & Doublet which is a short walk (less than 5 mins) down the canal, the pub also has a fine choice of real ales and a very nice welcome.

Good hotel and convenient for many areas around Birmingham and Coventry .The location is slightly of the beaten track so a SATNAV is recomended , easier by post code only as mine did not recognise the road details .Restaurant OK but spoiled by many around nearby . Brakfast price is a bit heavy .Staff excelent and helpfull at all levels .

We came to the hotel for a chill-out evening.Unfortuneately there was a wedding on the night we stayed, and our room was above the disco and bar!!!All other rooms fully booked!! Booking on-line does not give access to events such as these happening,we were therefore disturbed untill 2am,untill the wedding party was over. Not an ideal situation for a romantic chill-out break!!!

Hotel not too difficult to find but could have signs slightly further out, location not bad but some noise from the adjacent motorway.

Beautiful location let down by decor and furnishings. The hotel could do with decorating and simplifying. New beds must be top of the list - the double bed we had not only creaked with the slightest movement but you rolled together. We had no warning that there was a wedding that night and the noise until gone 3am was not good when you are trying to sleep. We never tried the resturant as it was deserted. We had to wait for sometime to be served at the bar when returning from eating elsewhere. The receptionist was very pleasant and helpful.

Think Faulty Towers and you have an idea of this hotel. The bed/mattress was from the 16th century; the springs had gone, the mattress was worn, we had to hold onto the edge of the bed to avoid sliding into the middle. Cosy but not condusive to a night's sleep. Now the t.v remote... to change channels, you had to use the standby button repeatedly, the volume didn't work and turning it off became a fine art. The meal at the restaurant... my partners steak was returned as it was well done and he asked for medium rare, the second one was chargrilled in an attempt to deliver a rarer option. The frozen fries and sorry cheesecake were not worth the £25/head price tag. Mind you, we should have been alerted when profiteroles were spelt 'proftarolls'.The saving grace was Thomas the barman who went out of his way to tend to our needs.A group of ladies were there on a freebie and I would say that would be the only basis upon which we would stay again-as long as we brought a blow up bed that is!

The location was very good but direction signs poor. The resteraunt food was well below standard we thought about calling Gordon Ramsey who would probably have fired all the waiting staff on the spot. i would stay there again due to the location but eat out.

Hotel was in a nice location, surrounded by fields, giving the impression of being in the middle of the countryside, yet only a stones throw from the M42 and Birmingham NEC. Great location to base yourself from if visiting Birmingham. Very nice restaurant, with a good selection and appeared to be value for money, however not tested. Wanted a romantic night away with partner, however, the cot in the room was a bit of a turn off! The double room was quite small and basic, but clean. The double bed was quite small, so if you are tall, ensure you book one of the bigger rooms with a king sized bed. The hotel had a marquee at the back which looked a fantastic location for wedding receptions/parties. There was also a pub down the lane leading up to the hotel called the Dog and Doublet, Bodymoor Heath which was very quaint, overlooking the canal. I would imagine it's lovely in the summer, with all the colourful long boats moored next to it. The lane is very dark at night, however, as not lit, and it's quite a walk from the hotel, so if you are afraid of the dark or have a disability which prevents you walking distances, be prepared to take your car if you want to venture out. Overall, lovely, quaint little hotel with friendly, helpful staff in a nice location and not too far from the motorway network. Much more of a 'personal touch' than the run of the mill business use hotels.

The all hotel especially the bedrooms are in real need of refurb. Head boards dirty, Iron burns on carpet, Dirt on walls (Room 44) Hard to believe this hotel is part of a chain. Total bill was £98,50 and not value for money.

Pretty hotel and grounds. Room nicely equipped and good size. Restaurant comfortable, menu sounded more interesting than it actually was.

Lovely hotel in a lovely part of the country, friendly staff and very helpful too. The room was lovely. Unfortunately we stayed here when the snow was at its worst in Feb and decided to leave early evening rather than get snowed in. Sadly, the car had been broken into. It wouldn't put me off staying again but would always now ensure that I parked as close to reception as possible and where covered by cctv. Its a lovely hotel and the mindless thugs who create havoc in the area do not have the right to damage the reputation of the hotel, just use common sense, well lit area and valuables out of sight.

The food is good and well presented. The menu is varied. Very pleasant dinning room.
