No problem with booking - the hotel had our booking (I did phone 1 week in advance to check) & the hotel honoured the price. The room was on the 7th floor, not the biggest room for a family of 4. The room could have done with a refurbishment - some of the other floors looked as if they had been, compared to the 7th floor. However, it was relatively clean & quiet & did us for 2 nights. The location was great - with a pool & backing onto the beach.

There were things broken in the room and I asked them to be fixed and no one ever came up. Also we didn't touch the mini bar yet they charged us. The staff was very nice and friendly. We expecially had fun with the bartender outside...[...]!

Location. Very old rooms. Windows of the room were so dirty we could not see out of it. Room smelled old. Windows were very dirty. Hotel was in very good location. The hotel did not provide parking. They asked me to go to the hotel next door to valet park. The cost was $30 per day.

Rooms are small, bathroom outdated, rooms noisy, and hallways smell like smoke. On the upside, the location is great, the bed is comfy, and the price is great. If you are only there to sleep and don't mind people coming and going all hours then this is an ok place to stay.

Everything was good The room,The workers,The view. We could not have had a better stay anywhere for this price. Would stay again

Staff and service was excellent, great dining within walking distance. Had great fun with my girlfriends hanging out at the pool bar. The bartender made certain we had fun and met some fellow travelers. Our regular room was just fine and well kept up. Saw the Jr suites which would have been a bargain with a jacuzzi. Will go there again...they really made us feel welcome. Had a great getaway!

The room seemed a little run down, the beds were not very comfortable.

Location was the only thing. It was filthy and a rip off, promised one kind of room and given something completely unacceptable. The parking promised was not there, so I had to pay $25.00 for Valet parking and they left the car in front of the hotel until 2 hours before I checked out. They also charge a lot extra on your credit card for incidentals that I never would use. I also have not received the credit back from them yet and it has been 4 days. We had to change rooms 3 times because of filth and odor from a take-out container of week old lobster. The last room we were given was dirty also. We could hear every door down the hall that was closed, not sound proof at all. The deluxe ocean view room was a joke, we could barely see blue when we pressed the left side of our face against the window. It was an older hotel which is fine, but there is no excuse for being dirty. The staff seemed to be laughing at us in a different language and were rude when we asked for a clean room. I will never use this hotel again as I am in the Tour business and we use hotels. This was definitely below standards for anyone, anyone except this hotel and their staff.

This is a an old fashion hotel with nothing going for it The rooms are awful and it badly needs updating Front desk staff could learn to answer the phone sometimes and also learn manners Noise went on all night long no security what so ever Would never stay at the Hotel or recomend it to anyone

This was my second stay at the Marseilles while at a business conference in Miami. Dont listen to the negative reviews, this is a great value if you are planning to stay in South Beach! The staff is awesome, and always willing to accommodate you in any way! I'll agree the hotel is older and has it's little "quirks", but the charm, beauty, and grace of this place make it well worth it!

The hotel and the staff are great. The pool is nice and clean and there is a little bar in the back pool area. The rooms were decent size and clean. Hotel itself looks really great and we were pleased with overall service. The only problem we had was a group of extremely loud and drunk kids in the room next to us who obviously never knew how to use the door handle so they kept slamming the door. We complained to the front desk and they immediately went to talk to them. When this issue continued for the next few nights and they kept on being extremely loud, the hotel offered to move us to another room. Overall, I have to say that (except that one incident) our stay at the Marseilles hotel was a pleasant one and we will probably stay there again.

Upon arrival, I was greated by the staff that was friendly and courteous. The hotel could use some cosmetic repairs but was a great find for the price. Very clean and quiet. Easy access to the beach. Parking cost $20 a day and is located a half block away. Overall was a very nice place to stay and is within walking distance of everything. Try and avoid the poolside bar- very expensive!!

I had to put in a good word for the hotel. I stayed two nights pre-cruise. Having booked through a discounter, I was given a partial ocean view. The room reminded me of the furniture and bathroom tiles that were in my Grandmother's house (remember the inlaid soap dish?) The room was adequate for the one night but I requested to be moved to an ocean view the next day. What a difference! So my advice to anyone booking here is definitely, pay the extra for the Ocean View Room. It was bigger, the tv was better, the bathroom was bigger, it had a refrigerator/mini bar (did the first room? I really don't recall). And of course, The View was so much better. I see they also have a jacuzzi room upgrade from the Ocean View as well as a Penthouse Suite; those I can't speak about. As for the staff, they were all so nice to me. The room attendant helped me move to the new room and later, when I had tangled the new hair curler I'd bought at the CVS (just up a couple of blocks) in my hair, took the time away from her cleaning to help untangle me. (No small feat! I was just about ready to cut it out with my scissors!) She was wonderful, giving me advice how to use that curler next time to avoid entanglement! The front desk and the pool bartender were all very nice to me and pleasant. So I just wanted to put in a good word. Bring hair conditioner; they have shampoo only. Liked the pool area/hammock area a lot.

I really enjoyed my stay here. I read most of the reviews before booking this hotel and decided 1/2 were good and the other half bad...I decided to take my chances. There were no roaches, the lounge chairs appeared new (not torned/ripped), the grounds were well kept, hotel wasn't noisy, nice pool and easy access to the beach, air conditioned rooms, the staff was friendly and I never had to wait more than 1 minute for the elevator! Yes, the bathrooms could stand to be renovated but they were not as bad as some of the reviews noted. All the high end hotels with chic bars are within walking distance but be prepared to pay top dollar. Dolce Vita two blocks away has the best coffee... was not able to try the food because the wait was too long :-( I would definitely stay here again. When the price is on point....you can deal with less than modern bathrooms. No need to rent a car because all you are looking for, in terms of entertainment, is within walking distance. If you MUST rent a car be prepared to pay 25.00 per day and have cash handy....they do not accept credit cards for payment.

Everything was ready upon arrival and checkin was seamless. Staff were cordial but not invasive. Housekeeping was most helpful and responsive. Room was comfortable and ocean view (and beach) was terrific. Mattress was certainly not untested, but worthy. Bathroom area was limited but that was not a crucial part of lodging needs. Very pleasant breakfast area with satisfying menu. Prices were, as expected, on the higher end. One does not go there to economize.

This hotel's best feature is the excellent location! The beach is right behind the hotel literally. You are in the heart of Miami Beach, so this was a busy location, lots of action. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. I also had an ocean view, which was awesome! The swimming pool was very nice, surrounded by tall palm trees. Especially liked the hammocks that were set up. Very relaxing. The staff was always friendly and helpful. The bathrooms were quite small, but served their purpose. Overall, enjoyed my stay and would definately return.

I love the Marseilles Hotel. It was clean, the staff was friendly and the food was really good. We ate there every morning with not one complaint. It was in a great location near alot of restaurants, clubs, the beach and convenient stores. Best of all it was a block away from a liquor store. The only thing I would complain about is the size of the room. It was a little small and the ironing board was broken. And that is only a minor complaint because we didn't come to Miami to stay in the room anyway. It was sufficient for putting our stuff down, sleeping(when we slept), dressing and showering. I liked the fact that they let my godsister check-in who flew in from Chicago and arrived ahead of the rest of us. We didn't want her roaming around waiting on us for 3 hours so that was really convenient. I would definitely stay there again.
