The room was beautiful, perfect view of the room. Sat on our balcony and watched the survers on the ocean. Went to the gym, excellent facilities. The staff was very friendly and welcoming and very helpful. We had a great time. Mahalo

The customer service was incredible. If you are ever in Honolulu, Hawaii, you should stay at the Marriott Resort and Spa located across the street from the beach at Waikiki.

Extremely small rooms, with few amenities (atypical of a Marriott property). We had a room with 2 double beds, as opposed to the usual queen beds you would expect. Only 3 drawers for 4 people. Very tight bathroom - had a pocket door due to lack of space for a normal swing door. Outdated in virtually every way. Definitely ready to go home after 5 days of stuffing a family of 4 (2 small kids) into this room. Have stayed at the Hyatt 2 blocks away. Nicer property for the same price, or less.

My husband and I took a mini-honeymoon to Waikiki and were thrilled with the hotel. I'm probably a little more biased than normal since we received a room upgrade and lucked out with an extra-large room and 2 balconies (!) with amazing views of both the mountains and the ocean. Immaculately clean, lovely housekeeping & front desk staff. An earlier reviewer said that the 'busy street to get to the beach' was a negative.....it's the same street that most-all of the Waikiki hotel-stayers have to cross (unless you're actually ON the beach itself), and it's not a big deal at all. There are pedestrian crossings all around the hotel and beach access is easy. The bed was THE most comfortable either of us has slept in, ever! The restaurants are a little on the pricey side, but it's Hawai'i. Good choice of restaurants, not so good option on Bars in the hotel, but plenty out and about to visit. On our next trip to Oahu I'd definately book back in here again. Total relaxation!

One of the best trips we have taken. Hotel room was clean and had all amenities needed. Hotel was very nice, very clean, within walking distance to the beach, and provided a pickup area for all tours. It is located towards the end of the strip, so some walking had to be done to cover all the restaurants and/or shops on the strip.

Staff were very friendly-rooms were good. Pool area is very run down and small. Rooms and staff are at a 4 star level, but the amenities and facilities especially the pool and restaurants are below standard. Cushiond on pool chairs are pretty bad.

Stayed 4 nights in April. Location cannot be beat for convenience. Check in took almost an hour, only 2 people working the front desk while several employees were hanging out at the time share desk. After that things were much better. Got upgraded to Ocean View. Very nice room recently repainted and new carpet with excellent view of the beach. 42 inch flat screen TV in room. Room was cleaned completely daily and housekeeping staff was very friendly and efficient even supplying me with extra coffee every day after I asked the first morning. Buffet is good, half price coupons received at check in made it even better. Skip the other restaurants -- too expensive, not too good. Fees will quickly make an affordable room rate not so affordable if you use those services. $26 a day parking even if you rent from the on site car rental, $13 a day for WI-FI, $20 for wired internet. Coin laundry is available near the pool so was able to tan while doing laundry. Two pools available and a large area to sun between the pools. Activities not run by the hotel, just walk to the beach for surfing and other rentals. The concierge did have a good variety of tours to choose from at OK prices. Hotel and pool areas and bar are all completely non-smoking which was great! One small out of the way corner of the pool deck was reserved for smokers.

The Marriott Wakiki is a nice hotel with a great ocean view! We were near Diamond Head and close to everything, yet far enough away to not be noisy! The beach is right across the street, and there was lots of shopping and restaurants easily within walking distance.

Great resort and staff. No complaints. We reserved the low budget city view room but immediatley upgraded upon our arrival to an ocean view. This was an extra $* a night. The room and view were awesome. I can not compare to the smaller room because we never saw it. Be ready to barter the upgrade cost. At first they wanted $* more a night but was able to get it for $*. Food was expensive no matter where you eat. Plenty to choose from within walking distance from the the hotel. We thought of buying groceries to save but hey, it was a vacation. $6 for a half gallon of milk, might as well eat out. Our 14 year-old daughter wanted to stay forever. The cost of living is outrageous and the traffic is worse. Renting a car for more than a couple of days is probably not worth it unless you know where your going and can afford to pay for parking. We highly reccomend the Marriott.

Right from the initial check in the service was great. They upgraded us immediately because our room was not ready. We had booked a city view room and ended up with a 32 floor view of Diamond Head and the beach. We could have sat on the balcony the whole week and been in heaven. It was nice to have two choices for pools and there was always open chairs. Nice to swim with live music at night and the food at the poolside restauant was great. Best burgers, fries and ice tea in town. Salads were also very good. Wait staff very friendly and helpful. Location of the hotel was terrific. Beach right across the street and all the shopping you could want. We were traveling with an 18 yr old making the location perfect for beach jogging and the fitness room was great for the needed workouts. The hotel experience made our trip to Hawaii perfect.

We arrived at the hotel at 5:50pm on a Wednesday. We checked "Late Arrival after 4pm" on my reservation. Upon arrival, there were only 2 desk attendants working to check people in. We got in line, and luckily were 4th in line. By the time we finished our check-in, 10 people were in line. Our attendant only had 1 of our rooms on file (we reserved & paid for 2 thru Orbitz), and by the time they researched the # of rooms we paid for w/Orbitz (they insist it was 1) our check-in took 1 hour to complete! Location is Premium, directly across from Waikiki Beach. The King size bed & down bedding was Heaven! The hand-held shower-head is overpowering enough to powerwash an elephant! Rooms are updated, clean & a modern deco design - very pleasing. Elevators & Lobbies are dated, but clean. As a frequent business traveler, I'd recommend the hotel simply based on the great night's sleep & great location (I was up @ 6am, and could walk to the beach for a morning run & swim, and be back in my room within 40 minutes). But as a Marriott Time Share Owner & Rewards Member, this hotel doesn't live up to Marriott's normal level of service!

The first room we were given was really unacceptable - a sixth floor with a view of the air conditioner tower and the open air parking lot!! We called room service and were told we could move but when we got back to the check-in desk, had to wait quite a while. We were moved to the sixteenth floor and at least could look through the other skyscraper hotels and see the "city view" promised. They also offered a partial ocean view for $20 per night extra which we decided to decline. You might think that they would want to make guests happy since the hotel was very far from full. Front desk in general was friendly but check-in took 25 mins. Take The Bus and forget a rental car or airport shuttle. Dozens of buses every few mins. take you wherever you wish to go on the island at $2 a head stop a half-block away from the back of the hotel on Kuhio Street. You must have only a carryon that fits under the bus seat and another bag that can fit on your lap. Trip takes just about an hour but so would a shuttle since they would stop on all the hotels on their way to the Marriott which is at the far end of Waikiki near Kapiolani Park. All in all, we felt good about our stay except for their even offering rooms with a view like the first one and not offering a really good discount for taking it.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to families. We stayed 5 nights at this Marriott with our 3 kids (ages 6, 4, and 4 months). Our kids enjoyed the swimming pool, although it wasn't a very large pool and did not have a very big "shallow end" for the kids to splash around in. As a parent, I found that to be disappointing, although it did not seem to bother the kids any. The hotel is right across the street (although you should be aware that it is a busy street, with crosswalks at stoplights) from a very kid-friendly beach (one that has a barrier for protection from big waves AND had great sand-castle building sand). It is also located very close to McDonalds, Burger King, Subway, ColdStone, Haagen Dazs, Cheeseburger in Paradise, and a number of other kid-friendly eating establishments that are much more affordable than "adult" restaurants. We found the hotel staff to be very helpful, courteous, and friendly. There was plenty of shopping available right in the hotel. There was also a grocery store only about 8 blocks or so away for anything you couldn't find (which isn't much!) at the ABC Stores located right inside the hotel. There is a bus stop right on the corner and the hotel had a "tour bus lobby" that was very convenient. I honestly can't think of much it lacked, if anything. It was clean. I really appreciated that it's a completely non-smoking hotel. We would definitely stay again. Our room was very sound proof to outside noise, which we found to be very helpful at bedtime.

We had a very enjoyable vacation staying at the Waikiki Beach Merriott Hotel. The property is located right on the "main strip" and the hotel has wonderful ammenities. The rooms are large and have granite tops in the furniture and bathrooms, there is a large plasma TV's and a very nice balcony. The hotel is near the park and gives you the sence of not being crowded in a downtown, yet still being right there in downtown Waikiki. The shops and restaurants along "the strip" are all great! You can also rent a surfboard right on the beach and paddle-out at the Waikiki surf break. Although the food is expensive at the hotel, it does have nice restaurants. The breakfast buffett is good and had all the usual breakfast buffett selections. For dinner, DK's Steakhouse is nice (but can get expensive) and the food is very good. There are alot of other restaurants nearby that range in price from fast food to 5 star dining. So there are lots of choices for any budget. All in all, the hotel is clean and comfortable, the food is good and the service staff is nice, helpful and polite. The property location is excellent and would stay there again. Waikiki was our first stop on our Hawaiian vacation and we loved our stay at this hotel the most. The room was extremely clean and the balcony (deluxe ocean view) looked out onto the beach and over the pool. At night, we had a better view of the sunset than when we went on a dinner cruise! We got a free breakfast with our package, and it was well worth it. The food was great, especially the french toast/pancakes with the coconut syrup. The hotel itself is right across the street from the beach, and is in a great location around several restaurants and shops. We never needed a car when in the city. We will be back!
