The hotel grounds and pool were beautiful, but they were doing some renovations so be prepared for it to be noisy during the day. As long as you are gone during the day, it wouldn't really matter. But forget relaxing by the pool (renovating a pool side restaurant) or taking a nap (it sounded like a jack hammer right above our room as they are renovating rooms). I would definitely stay there again, however, when they aren't renovating. I didn't mind that it was right next to the airport, although helicopters frequently flew overhead. The room was clean and nice. The bed was comfortable, although there was a bug lump down the middle of the bed. Because they have a down comforter on the bed, we had to turn the air conditioning way down low to make it cold so we could sleep at night, but then we would freeze during the day. We asked for 2 beds but got only 1 king so we didn't get what we wanted. We got there at noon, but a room wasn't ready and check in isn't until 4:00 p.m. so we had to wait. We loved Duke's restaurant there (the downstairs Dukes) and ended up eating most of our meals there as the food was good and reasonably priced for Hawaii. It was nice being on the beach, although you can't really snorkel there because of the waves. It was in a good location for Kauai and within a reasonable drive to many things. They may want you to do a time share presentation for 90 minutes (at another location) and you can get some free stuff. We did it and got $100 worth of gift certificates which you can use at certain stores or restaurants or pay part of your extra charges at the hotel. You don't have to do this but it helps pay the bills!

Pool, beach, and location were great. Trading towels in and out with a towel card is a drag. The hotel is beautiful. They gave us the worst room in the building when there were clearly other rooms available and we were on our honeymoon. Fortunately, my new wife's status got us upgraded to a marginally better room with a view. The resort is nice but some of the rooms do not live up.

First I would like to start with we booked a package through the Marriott not travel website, maybe that is part of the problem. it took us two hours to get our car because the marriott failed to notify the car rental place. Then they told us that the Spa and golf package (the reason we booked through them) wasn't part of the package, even though our paperwork says that is is very clearly! And to top it off our room isn't very clean, they only changed the sheets one time (the second out of 6 nights),they would only gave us one washcloth for a two bath suite! AND they never once cleaned the already dirty tub! and only one thing of coffee for the 7 days we stayed, SO CHEESY! I will Never come back!

We enjoyed our stay. Kids really enjoyed the pool and and beach. Several places to dine onsite. Close to the airport, but did not notice any noise. Centrally located on the island. The beds in our room were ok, and overall I would recommend this hotel.

The landscaping and pool are beautiful. The rooms are very nice and the food in the restuarants is very good. The beach was nice and clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. However, the hotel is under construction and the noise from the JACKHAMMERS was deafening. We could not talk in our room over the noise during the day and our granddaughter could not sleep. I'm sure the rooms will be very nice when the renovations are completed but in the meantime, stay somewhere else.

The grounds were beautiful located right on a pristine beach. Parking is not convenient although valet is available. Beautiful hotel impressed us locals from Oahu. I would definitely recommend to family and friends.

The hotel overall was a good experience. However, when we arrived late due to a delayed flight no drinking water was available. The Marriott did nothing to assist us in getting drinking water. We were very disappointed with the lack of concern.

I was extremely satisfied with the Marriott. The staff was extremely friendly and provided wonderful customer service. The facilities are beautiful - the tropical landscape was exquisite and provided a very relaxing atmosphere. This hotel definitely makes you feel like you're on vacation in a tropical paradise. I really enjoyed lounging out in the hammock just outside my garden view room. The pool is also very nice. The sand was soft and the beach was enjoyable. Since the hotel is located in a bay, the ocean is more calm there than in other spots on the island and offers some nice swimming. We rented a kayak and were able to enjoy the beautiful ocean waters. After reading other reviews when I was booking my trip, I was worried about the kids. But, they did not pose a problem or get on my nerves. We were able to get away from them when we needed more peace and quiet. This hotel is also centrally located to many attractions, which is nice. I would definitely stay at the Marriott again and would recommend it to my fellow Kauai travelers.

The hotel would have been perfect except there was a lot of renovation construction going on. We didn't get any notice from Orbitz, Marriott's website, or the check-in staff about the construction. The third day we were there, they shut down the poolside restaurant and spent the day jackhammering out the tile floor. We also had construction going on in the rooms directly above us. It would have been nice to get a heads-up from someone about this in advance. Otherwise, this is a really great hotel. They have what is called a Mahalo mug. Again, no one tells you about it, but you see people carrying the around. So you ask a fellow guest and for $30 you can get unlimited coffee and soda refills during the day for your whole trip. Well worth it. Also, you can rent a covered double chaise lounge for the whole day for $36. This is pretty cool, so you can come and go as you please and you'll know you will have a spot right next to the pool when you come back.

Hotel was everything it was promised to be. Rooms were clean and gorgeous and views were stunning. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. Staff was friendly. Is a large hotel and a long way from our room to the parking lot. Staff were great at directions and gave you a map with highlighted roads. Breakfast prices were high so we hit the local WalMart and ate breakfast in our room. All rooms had refrigerator, only some had microwave. Each room had it's own little deck with table and chairs which was great to sit and watch surfers. Beach was well kept and great surf for boogie boards and learning surfers. Most mornings the hotel sponsored surfing lessons for a fee. Hotel sponsored local artists to set up and display goods for sale every day. Pool was amazing! 4 hot tubs. Only downfall was pool and hot tubs close at 10 pm and is strictly enforced. Resturaunts on site were overpriced except Duke's. Dukes was great food and decent prices, could get hamburgers to steaks. Must try Hula Pie! I'm sure it was overpriced hotel, but was only one in the area with a swimmable beach, and was definitely worth the upgrade for us. Would definitely stay here again!!!

My husband and I went to the Marriott in Kauai to celebrate his birthday and what an amazing stay we had! We got a great deal through Marriott for an affordable stay at this hotel. We had read the reviews on line and we were concerned about the room appearance and being close to the airport but NONE of these things were issues, we were pleasantly surprised! the room was redone and was gorgeous! We were thrilled by the service and all staff greeted us with smiles and were very helpful. The airport was very convenient to the hotel and not once did we hear an airplane only a few helicopter tours above. As well we NOT ONCE saw a cruise ship, it was a gorgeous view from the hotel to the beach and to the pool. We were able to go to the restaurants and yes, they were expensive but very good. We were not pleased with the sushi but were happy with the convenience of it being on site. we had hoped that there would be possibly more culture of a luau while we were there but we were not informed of one and the room was humid for the first day or so but when we called down for a de humidifier we got one right away and were thrilled for the rest of the trip! it was a gorgeous hotel and we would definitely stay again!!

I usually love this hotel but they were in the middle of a remodel and it was tough to relax at the pool when someone is using a Jackhammer 75 yards away... If I would have known that they were remodeling, then I may have picked a different hotel... There were also a bit more non hotel guest then in the past

My wife and I went to the Marriot Beach Club for our Honeymoon. The hotel is absolutely beautiful. I was concerned when I read other reviews that state the hotel rooms were outdated and had a musty smell. Our room was very nice and did not have an odor. The hotel appeared to be recently remodeled. All the hallways had new carpet and paint. The room was very clean and comfortable and appeared recently renovated. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone on there honeymoon as it is very romantic especially at night with the all the gardens line with tiki torches and the pool. The beach is very nice to walk on and swim as the waves are not very strong. I was very pleased with our stay and my wife and I plan to stay there again.

We stayed at the Kauai Marriott Hotel (not time share) although there are some on the property. The location is in a bay, so the ocean is not too rough. The Marriott does an excellent job of making their guests happy. It is a beautiful hotel with lush surroundings. It is easy to explore the island from this location.

Our stay was very disappointing. While the grounds are pretty nice, neither Orbitz nor Marriott bothered telling us the hotel was undergoing major construction. There was drilling and noise about our room as well as by the pool and the beach, so we had to leave the resort practically every day. Also, the cleaning crew was never thorough. Not worth what we paid. .

I took my family for a vacation, and we had a great stay at the Mariott. The bed was exteremly comfortable, the curtains kept what liittle light there was out.The hotel did not light up your window with football stadium lights. The property was quiet. I had previosly read complaints about the hotel being close to LIhue airport, but I never noticed any aiirplane noises; however, I live along the flight path for Fighter jets into Hill AFB .There were enough activiteis to do and resturants at the hotel that somedays we did not use our rental car. The staff was prompt on correcting or assisting us with any problems or requests. The property is beatuiful and the beach was not bad. The area around the hotel was easy to navigate around with many dining establishments close by. My only complaints about the trip was it rained most of the time, but Mariott had nothing to due with that.

Upfront caveat: I own a timeshare here, so I'm a little biased, but I'm always quick to complain (politely) when things aren't up to snuff. I can't believe that couple booked a no-open window room for their honeymoon (cheapest available), then expected the hotel to upgrade them for nothing! I have stayed in one of those rooms as an extra night, and while they're adequate, there is no view. You get what you pay for. The concierge staff have always been very helpful in making bookings for me and suggesting activities I haven't tried before. I took a scuba lesson in the hotel pool (35), then a guided dive at Poipu for 79, ended up taking the lessons for certification. Also went on the tube ride through the irrigation tunnels. Yes, activities on Kauai are expensive, especially compared to my experience in Aruba, where a half-day trip can be had for about 80. However, there is much more to do on Kauai, real estate prices (and food prices) are higher than Aruba, etc. I didn't eat at the hotel restaurants, because I'm petite and just don't eat big meals. However, I got drinks from the bars, and the staff have always been friendly, even when I just asked for a (free) cup of ice water when lounging by the beach or pool. The beach is swimmable most days (some bigger waves on some winter days), but smooth sandy bottom (unlike rocky bottom at Poipu). The location is great if you plan on doing a lot of sightseeing, since it's about half-way between the northwestern end of the road (past Waimea canyon) and Hanalei. The grounds are beautiful, and the walkway along the beach is lit at night, so you can walk to nearby restaurants and shops.
