The hotel room was perfect, the staff were very kind and helpful, it was a little noisy at night but I guess it´s normal in that part of town, the location is excellent also, you could walk to chinatown and other points of interest, or you could get on the cablecar just across the street, also across the street there was a starbucks and a walgreens that really helped us out when we needed snaks or something, parking and food in the hotel were pricy, but overall it was worth it.

The rooms were lovely. The front desk staff was among the worst ever encountered. The hotel was great as was the location but the management needs to train the front desk clerks in customer service. I witnessed their rude behavior with other guests as well as with my own check-in check out process.

We had to check out of our previous hotel early in the morning, and found the Hotel 480 online. They allowed us to check in early without paying half a day extra. Great location and clean rooms. Breakfast is not complimentary, so check the prices before you sit down. I was very impressed.

An above average room for the purpose of a weekend getaway. Very secure/safe building. Gracious and friendly staff. Excellent location for exploring Union Square. Parking is 46 dollars per day. Outrageous. Wireless is 9.95 per day, should be a free service, it's 2008.

Within very close walking distance of great food and shopping. Rooms were clean and comfortable and hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. A great deal.

Hotel recently totally refurbished after Marriott acquired it from Holiday Inn. The refurbishment was ongoing and there was no pool or bar. Located just off Union Square on an upscale corner at Sutter and Powell this nicely refurbished Marriott has the usual efficient feel of the franchise but lacks a few frills. Staff was friendly and welcoming but there was no ambiance in the foyer which was small and lacked a bar or coffee shop (Starbucks right across the street). The gym had all new equipment and was relatively spacious for a hotel of this type but a pool or hot tub would have improved the facility for the tourist customers. The small self service laundry was however a very neat feature with high end appliances but no soap dispenser (soap available at reception). I did not try the restaurant owing to the massive number of choices available outside, it therefore seemed a bit lame to eat in the hotel. I did notice quite a few people using the dining room though. The Sutter street side was definitely a tad noisy in the early hours due to delivery trucks and garbage collections. Ask for a room on the inside away from the street. The reception had a free use computer purely for doing flight check in but not for general Internet access. Wireless was charged daily in all rooms at the usual rates. In summary, a very conveniently located new hotel but a bit light on features, definitely aimed more at the business and convention crowd rather than the romantic get away couple. Downside, on a noisy intersection.

First visit to SF. i found the staff 99% friendly and helpful, Easy access to cable cars, busses and shuttles. I complained of street noise due to rubbish pick up early mornings (I'm sure all hotels have the same problem) and my room was changed immediately. Only bad experience was with a taxi driver. The rooms I was in had not been upgraded yet, but was clean and comfortable. Kudos and thanks to all the staff

Wow, what a great stay at a great price! Hotel is one block north of Union Square, along the historic Cable Car route. Clean and professional, the beds are comfortable, and the rooms are well appointed. The view is incredible, regardless of which side of the hotel you are on, and the Concierge was more than willing to answer our questions and provided greatly reduced tickets for some of the tours. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip to SF. The room's decor and feel is similar to most 4/5-star hotels with a nice flare of old SF style. Large rooms with plenty of space. Note: There is no fitness facility - hasn't been for some time, but SF is actually a very close-nit city and you can walk almost anywhere within minutes for your fitness. Also, public transportation is very cheap and convenient, and parking anywhere in SF is very expensive. (including all hotels)

Hotel 480 is a nice place to stay. It's reasonably priced for San Francisco. It's about eight blocks from the Moscone Center -- a 15 minute walk at most. I felt comfortable walking in the am; one may wish to take a taxi in the evening. Staff were very nice and helpful. Exercise room was closed for remodeling (several months) which I didn't like. Food at the hotel was outrageosly priced - pancakes, eggs and sausage over $23 -- but what isn't in SF. Overall, I had a very pleasant stay.

Quick check-in and check-out. Lobby area was unimpressive. A solid 3.5 star stay in downtown San Francisco. The facilities aren't amazing, but the rooms are comfortable and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly.

Our overnight stay at the Hotel 480 was quite pleasant. The room was clean and inviting. The service was good, as we left our bag with the bell man after check out and returned later to retrieve it to return home. We realize that the hotel is under renovation, and we would probably stay there again in the future. Hopefully there will be an onsite restauraunt in the future. We recommend the world famous Sears Restaurant on Powell across the street from the hotel.

Chose this hotel because of the location, and closeness to cable car. After 2 weeks driving the PCH, we were expecting a really small room in the city. From the doorman to the desk staff, we were greeted warmly. We were totally unprepared for the size of the room. It was much larger than we had expected. The bathroom was very nice, very modern, very clean. We even had a nice view from our window. The staff was very helpful in suggesting a taxi as better than the shuttle to the airport. When I asked the night before checkout of they would print my boarding passes, they happily did it for us. The beds and bedding were of good quality. When we called for a bellman to take our luggage down, he was at the door really, really quickly. Our only complaint was the cost of the parking - 40 a day! I know that is about average. We decided to take the rental back early since we didn't need it, and save the 40 bucks a day. We do feel they charged us quite a bit for the hour they had the car before we made that decision. We only used the restaurant on the morning of check out for quick take out toast. The location can't be beat, and we got such a super rate, we were very happy. Again, the room and bath were really large compared to what it could have been. If you have read reviews of other hotels, you will see what I mean.

We went on blind faith and reader reviews to select this hotel- reader reviews were on target: this hotel is in a great location, the staff is very friendly, overall we were very happy with our stay. Parking is expensive (+40/day), so skip the rental car - cable car and other mass transit is right outside hotel

i booked this hotel based on the other reviews on this site.. i think they must have been written by employ's the hotel or it's management. there is a serious disconnect with the reality of the hotel and what i perceived to be the hotel i was staying at from the reviews. the hotel is a couple blocks from union square, but there are tons of hotels all around here that seem nicer i wish i was staying there.. the room is not what is shown in the picture. it's basic holiday inn, no mini bar, generic everything. nothing special.. but that would have been alright. there is no public transport outside the hotel as was claimed, i also waited for over 40 min to get a cab. the hotel is currently under construction which is not mentioned anywhere on traveloctity. so there is loud noise starting at 9 am. the first night i called to ask about a vending machine and was told to go across the hall. i ended up going to six floors! none of the soda machines worked, some had out of order signs some did not. it was surreal. i ended up leaving the hotel and going to a drug store. the internet is not wireless and not free. the hotel staff tries to be nice but they know they are running some sort of scam here and seem used to complainants. worsr of all.. last night half the hotel lost hotel lost power.. luckily my room did not but from 10- 11:45 or so there were enginners using power tools trying to fix the problem.. on a sunday night.. power tools.. for the price you pay a night. do not stay here. i have never written a review.. but i hate this hotel .

the number one thing that gets me most about this hotel is its location. it is easily a stone's throw away from Union Square, with flagship stores around the area. the rooms are big and the beds are comfortable. the staff are well-trained are easily approachable if you have any questions. my first time in San Francisco was definitely made convenient and fun by Hotel 480. i recommend this to mid-range travelers, absolutely worth your money. will stay here again when i go back to SF

Brand new rooms, just remodeled. Construction in lobby, but only during business hours. Hotel undergoing renovation and takeover I believe. The room was huge. Get a corner room if you. Good view. Great staff.

The hotel is undergoing renovations -- so it's a bit hard to tell about many of the features, but the location is simply great. Very safe; close to Union Square and right next to the cable cars and Starbucks! I would not say it's a 4-star hotel, perhaps a 3.5 star. It felt more like a business hotel. I can say that my room, which had not yet been updated, was perfectly fine. When I check in, I asked for a quiet room ... and had upgraded to a higher floor (21st) and it was amazingly QUIET and had a lovely view. I didn't hear one other sound when I was in the room. That was pretty important to me, so I'd say it was a perfectly fine stay in a great city.
