I was very dissapointed with the customer service displayed at the Marriott downtown Columbia. The room that I checked into had a dirty tub, with hair particles in it. I called to room service to get the dilema handled and to my surprise no one responded. After placing the second call the problem was corrected. The following day I headed out to a business meeting. I invited a few business associates back to my room. When I arrived I found the room unclean and in the condition I left it. It was @ 7pm and there wasn't a do not disturb sign on the door. Therefore I don't understand the confusion. When you check into a hotel bearing the name Marriott on it you expect a higher lever of service and customer care associated with it. I was less than pleased with what I received

We were in Columbia for a nephew's wedding and his parents reserved rooms and held their reception here. From the moment we pulled into the unloading area it was nothing but incredible service! Everything was immaculate, the food in the restaurant was great. Our room was impeccable! THe beds were so incredibly comfortable, with down matress pads and comforters, six pillows on each bed... Our son wanted a portable crib so we called room service and they brought us a Graco Pack-N-Play. It was perfect! In the middle of the night (around 1am), my husband was sick and we needed some cleaning supplies and they brought them right up. Then, at 4am, my son woke up and wanted some milk. The kitchen was closed and the doors were locked, but they opened it up to get us some milk and brought it to us. The reception was incredible as well. The food was delicious and again, the service was great! The parking garage is attached to the hotel through a breezeway and is convenient and it feels safe to have your car parked there. The pool is really nice but it was FREEZING cold. The spa was very nice, as was the gym facility! I will definately think of Marriott every time I'm in need of accomodations anywhere!

We loved our stay at Columbia Mariott. Location is excellent - next door to museum- nice walking distance to Vista etc. Bed were so very comfortable, bath room was nice size, with all the necessary creams, shampoos etc and coffee maker for coffee lovers who need a fresh cup of coffee to start their day. Your staff was very kind and friedly. We would be delighted to stay with you again on our next trip to Columbia.

"As Marriotts go, this one is OK. The rooms are comfy & nicely decorated. The hotel is clean and offers convenient dining options. The concierge/front desk were quite satisfactory. At check-in, the clerk was confused about how I had made and paid for the reservation- which made my nervous. I had issues with my door key every time I needed to get into my room. No mini-bar; room service was late. Overall, quite comfortable and very convenient location. SMOKERS beware, though- you'll be going outside at all times of day and night. "

Convenient to University of SC, staff was helpful & friendly. Bathrooms a bit small. Nice lobby area with a number of different dining options. Indoor pool is large. Parking is a bit of hike, charge is $10 a day. Rooms were well decorated and clean, however we did notice a slight mildew/moldy smell which is probably due to the age of the building and humid weather conditions in SC.
