We went there for my cousin's wedding. Most of our family and friends stayed there. Those that weren't- still hung out there cause it was so incredible. Poolside had everything and then some. There was plenty to do. You could play golf, tennis, ride bikes, go sailing, walk the pier. The food was good-maybe a little over-priced.

The hotel was perfect! All of it! Nothing. This resort is a once in a life time type place.

On the positive side, the campus of this resort is beautiful. A lot is invested in landscaping. Also, the beds were the most comfortable I have ever slept in at a hotel. The food is good, almost great. The staff is generally polite and helpful. There is a lot of negative however. First, food and amenities are very over-priced. I don't mind paying more for those things if they exceptional, but these were not. In addition, my dining exerpience was often impeded by the server pestering me for a method of payment either before or during the meal. I was told it was hotel policy. It is a bad one and I felt insulted every time it happened. While I did not personally experience this, about half of the people that attended the same conference I did went at least two days without hot water for bathing. The hotel did offer restitution (Marriott points, a free breakfast or half of the room charge for one night). The campus is sprawling and getting anywhere entails a bit of a walk. However this worked out for me since the highly touted fitness center was closed for remodelling the whole time of my stay.Overall, my stay was both good and bad, and there was enough bad for me to not recommend experience.

We had a tropical storm come in dueing our stay and the hotel took very good care of us. The beds here are the most comfortable beds in the world. It was like sleeping on a cloud.

Great pool and beach for weekend getaway with the family. Evening dining in the hotel was overpriced for mediocre food. We love this hotel and have stayed here several times. Breakfast is awesome in the dining room, pool side service is nice. We don't mind paying top dollar for a great meal - but both times we've tried dining in the hotel for dinner - it was average. This last stay we were in the Spa Building for the first time and found the beds to be uncomfortable.

This is the second time we stayed at this particular hotel. Although the atmosphere and scenery is excellent, service was lacking. We had major problems at check in, since our stay was a gift from relatives. The staff at the front desk did not seem to want to take the extra time to help us or actually look into our situation and charged the wrong card after we asked them three times to double check which card was billed. Also, the amount that was taken out of my account for drinks at Bucky's Lounge was higher than the amount that I signed for. I know that these things seem small for such a beautiful, luxury hotel, but I feel that luxury means that these situations should not occur, or be handled better when they do occur.

it was paradise! clean, everything smelled good and friendly people who worked there! We'll definitely be back! The staff was friendly, food was great and lots to do.

Thanksgiving 2007 was may first stay at this resort. The landscape was beautiful. Majority of the staff was helpful and polite, but I did have an issue with a waiter at Buckey's not wanting to serve our table. The female waiter/bartender completely ignored us, pertending to clean the bar and surrounding tables, when the male waiter/bartender came back to the bar, some minutes later, she told him to wait our table. The food at the Lakewood House was wonderful, the best food we had at the hotel. The other dining prices was too expensive for quality and okay taste of the food (i.e. 39.00 for breakfast buffet). The spa was wonderful. The beds were extremely comfortable. The resort supplied many activities. Overall my experience was a good one. I would be happy to return again, but the majority of my meals will be outside the resort.

A beautiful old resort that has been modernized without losing the charm. Beautiful location and buildings with the best staff anywhere.

Dining was off the top! The room had the most gorgeous panoramic view overlooking Mobile Bay. Flowers were in bloom with the grandest of old oak trees. The music in the lounge was entertaining, and I have never had a better time!! The service was beyond reproach.

Beautiful grounds and great staff. Room size was a little small. Great resort for families or a romantic getaway.

We have been to the Grand many times and always loved it. This time was my first to have some negative experiences. First was the coffee shop, overcharged for my ""cappucino"" which was really a latte and awful at that, undrinkable. Taken off my room bill but the waitress was unpleasant. Next was the restaurant, service slow, food not up to par, very expensive for the quality. Loved the swimming pool but I will think twice before going back. Need to upgrade the food services for this price tag.

Beautiful place to stay, luxurious. The staff of the spa was stressed at check out and seemed a little overwhelmed. They were not familiar with the new, trail Card offered.

Beautiful location. Our building had no elevator. The hotel grounds are beautiful and the hotel itself has a great history.

It is a great family resort, plenty of activities for the children and they loved them. Nothing. Great family hotel. Great for rest for the parents and activities for the children. My children wanted to live there. Food was excellent.

Attractive resort with striking views. The Grand Hotel is a classic resort hotel initially opened in 1847, now operated by Marriott. It has tremendous views over Mobile Bay and excellent leisure facilities, from a waterfront promenade and piers, a pool complex and a full service spa, which my wife and daughters enjoyed greatly. Highly recommended.

The grounds were fabulous! Flowers spilled out from every corner - and the bay was beautiful. We sat on the beach and watched a gorgeous sunset! This is a wonderful spot for families or couples to stay. There are daily planned activities including fitness activities, crafts, and youth activities. We rode a tandem bicycle around the grounds and attended afternoon tea. The spa is also wonderful. Most breathtaking was the beauty and serenity of the resort. I felt like we had stepped into another era! We will definitely stay at the Grand again, very soon!

Friendly staff, activities, fishing, pool, scenic location, adult pool area. No microwaveorfridge. We liked it and will come back.

Elegant grounds and location. Significant daily hotel tax in addition to posted rates. There are few storied places that live up to the grace and beauty of the Grand Hotel. If anything, the staff is too solicitous.

Staff was not overly great. Great place, expensive though. The location is great.
