The MEA is a tall mainly glass block building, and is situated along the side of the river Ural. I live at the MEA, and lets say teething problems are STILL on going since their opening last May, I think it was. I get the feeling it's the consortium and not the Marriot that runs the MEA, if the Marriott were in full charge this place would be of the proper Marriott standings. The main problems are still, noisy A/C units in some rooms, A/C not working properly or at all in a lot of the rooms since the opening, mine has never worked properly since moving in last May, which was not good for the summer period as it gets so hot here, we resorted to a electric fan and the door had to be open to the apartment (windows can not be opened in the MEA). But we are constantly being told these problems are being 'worked' on but still nothing greatly seems to improve as of yet. Once these problems get sorted this hotel will be really lovely. The apartments are a very spacious and nicely decorated, offering one, two and three bedroom sizes. There are amazing views over the city from all sides, they gym is situated on the top floor and it spans 3 sides of the MEA, it has ceiling to floor glass windows and has all new high tech equipment, the sauna is very good size also. Plenty of parking space with shops near by and easy walking into the city. I like living at the MEA all the staff are very nice and friendly, but I just wish they would get their act together and get the A/C problems and the other theething bits sorted out.
