Friendly staff, centrally located! Close to expressways and great restaurants!

Great staff when you call in and ask for assistance but when there were problems during your stay, they were slow to act.. Inability to rectify uncomfortable situations. Hotel put us on 2nd floor where they knew a wedding was going on...we stayed for two nights and they could have foreseen that the wedding music and party would go well into the night...we could not sleep because of the bass from the DJ...when we complained, they said it should stop but it never did and no offer to make things right either.

This is an older hotel in a fantastic location in Troy adjacent to the freeway. This was only a short weekend trip for me so I chose this location because easy access to the freeway made getting back to the airport sunday morning a breeze. Despite its age, the hotel has been tastefully updated and is really first class in decor and appointments. The pool and hot tub were clean and attractive with a resort feel, despite being indoors, on the second floor, between the restaurant and parking garage. It even has a unique sun deck if you wanted to work on your tan. The exercise rooms are excellent with some of the best equipment I've seen in a hotel. Don't expect the sauna or steam room, the hotel staff said they were removed several years ago but that many of the travel sites have not updated this information. I did a great quick workout Friday afternoon followed by a short soak in the hot tub before heading out to my Friday night events. The restaurant is one of the best in Troy, but is honestly way above my price range. The downside is that they also provide the room service, which makes the pricing outrageous. There is no continental breakfast included, but the breakfast menu was extensive. Unfortunately, there aren't very many affordable restaurant alternatives right nearby. Overall I was happy with the hotel and would stay there again, but at least now I know to plan for all of my meals elsewhere. I would recommend this hotel to friends and family, I had a great time and the facilities are really first rate.

I have family in both Detroit and Flint, staying in Troy made the trip between both relaxing and the car trips easier. Did I mention that shopping in the area can not be beat.

This hotel was wonderful, the room was better than I expected and the price was off their regular price.

I ended up at this hotel because of an event happening there, and since I had to overnight in the area, I thought I would stay here to save time. Check In would have been better if I could have found the valet, or there were signs for self parking. When I pulled up, there was one valet running around, and another just standing there, looking at the hotel van like he was supposed to do something with it. Actually checking into the hotel was average, nothing special... no one overly friendly. When I got to my room, it was small -- reminded me of a college dorm room. It smelled very musty. When I mentioned it to the front desk, they simply said they could put a machine in there to take care of it - but since I was going to be working from my room that night, it didn't seem like a good option. When I replied that wouldn't work, they told me "ok, well let us know if it gets bad." At that point, I just didn't have the energy to deal with it. That pretty much soured me on the hotel. Shula's is a great steakhouse in the lobby, but I wish there would have been somewhere to get a glass of wine that wasn't $20 a pour. Makes it hard to have a few cocktails when they are all in that price range. Overall, it was the service that convinced me this wasn't a real Marriott, no matter what the giant letters on the building say.

Detroit Marriott is very comfortable for business stay. Excellent facilities and aminities within the hotel but not close by. No convenient restaurants or shops in walkable distance but the shuttle service is excellent and free. No shuttle from air port is a disadvantage.

Great property. Great property but could not extend our stay there, and had to move to a Ramada plus (old Hilton)which was disappointing.

Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was not very good. I needed handicap parking, so they let us park free in the valet parking. They brought us extra glasses, two of which had cold water in them. They were excellent.
