room and double bed very small - crowded for 2 peoplehad to get the owners to let us in every time as we could not get front door code to work!

Don't bother...If you want to feel like your intruding in someone's house then this is the place for you. When we were shown our tiny rooms, which were unbearably hot, even though it wasn't that hot outside, we were asked to pay, in cash! That was the last we saw of our so called 'hosts'. Our parents actually sat outside waiting for us on the morning of our departure and the hosts didn't even bother to say goodbye. There was no communal space if you were staying with others. The rooms were tiny, beds were desperately in need of new mattresses. The en-suite was a converted wardrobe. the whole experience was shocking.

Marchfield Guest HouseThe en-suite room in which we stayed was spacious, bright and clean, with a television and a small fridge into which the hosts put the continental breakfast each day. The breakfast was ok - cereal, orange juice, a small container of fruit and a single croissant per person - however, the croissants generally did not cope well with refrigeration. We were originally booked into the double without en-suite, but we are greatful to our friendly and helpful hosts - they moved us into the en-suite room at no extra charge as it was free. However, our original double room would have been somewhat small for two people if the stay was for longer than one night.One last comment - a previous review mentioned that the guest house smelled of dogs. The rooms did not smell during our stay, but there was certainly a noticeable odour on the stairs and in the hallway. Overall, a good value for money guest house with easy bus access into central Edinburgh.

First of all, the B&B was rather difficult to find and not indicated at all. Our 'ensuite' room was actually a room and a cupboard turned into a bathroom, not very practical (particularly with kids as this was a family room). The toilet was very noisy and so was the fridge in the room. TV reception was very bad with only 3 channels. Besides, except for our room, the whole house had a very strong smell of dogs (not suitable for allergic people).A frugal breakfast was already in the fridge but fresh coffee would have been really appreciated especially after a terrible night on a very springy old mattress!

We got a bargain, £40 for a room on a Saturday night through Laterooms. We wanted to have a night out in Edinburgh. The guest house is out of the city centre, but we got a taxi back after midnight on a Saturday night and it was only £9, so the distance was no issue.Adam who runs the guest house was really welcoming and friendly, our room was spacious and clean and the bed comfy. We were given a guide for the city with a map and told to telephone any time if we needed any help.There was a continental breakfast in the little fridge; orange juice, cereal boxes, croissants, jam, and a pint of milk.I couldn't fault the guest house on anything. Unfortunately I forgot to give the key back at the end of the stay and took it back to England with me - sorry!

My daughter and I stayed here overnight nice welcome very helpful.Room excellent ensuite everything that we required . We took taxi to our destination but there is bus stop very near.quiet district easy to find.

This house locates just off a main road, it's really annoying during the night. Especially, a small fridge in the room makes much more noise too. And all breakfast is in the fridge, they don't even bother to make you toast. But you can still have a cuppa in your tiny room.

Expensive for a B&B, but it was Edinburgh Tattoo time so it's a seller's market. The surrounding area is nice and safe and has convenient, regular bus links into Princes Street. Parking facilities are good and safe.

The family owns 2 massive dogs and as a result the smell of the dogs was so overpowing it made our stay very uncomfortable.
