We were scared into thinking that a $75/night room in the middle of nowhere was going to suck("you get what you pay for") But when we saw the rooms and the hotel, we realized we had lucked out in a big way. Though the lovely reception area and hotel front is right on busy/noisy Hwy 1, you can't hear it at all. The rooms and beach are well down the hill. The rooms are super cute, the decorations and landscapingis awesome and the maze of endless but really cool tile stairs are unbelievably charming. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The beach, hot tubs, and pool are great. It's halfway between Cabo and San Jose and close to Sta Maria and Chilleno bays...for decent snorkeling. The food was tolerable. Big deal. San Jose had amazing food. Morgan's Encore is a must. Baja Brewing had great salad and local brewed beer. The only downside to the hotel might be the local kids on loud motorcycles on the beach(just one day while we were there) and loud tvs and no bartender by they pool. Easily remedied though. Overall...a fantastic accomodation for the price. I'd go back for sure. Sidenote: We were there May 1-3...at the height of Swine Flu Drama. Maybe it was unusually quiet?

BIG DRAWBACKS of Marbella: 1)First of all, we were the only ones staying there for a few days. 2.) It took us an hour to find the place because they were doing remodeling (which Travelocity did not inform us of) and took the sign down. 3.)There was minimal staff on duty throughout our entire stay. No one even helped us with out luggage. We had to track people down to get meals, drinks, and towels. No real security AT ALL. 4.) No elevator or phones. So if you needed to contact the front desk(which we had to do several times) you have to walk all the way up the stairs. 5.) We didn't have any hot water in our room for a couple of days. 6) We had a wonderful view of a wall and some pipes from our room. You're telling me that was the best room we could get when the entire hotel was EMPTY!!! To be fair, some nice things about Marbella: 1.) Quiet private beach with chairs and palapas. 2.)The food was half way decent and pretty cheap. Again you pay for what you get here

We loved our stay. If you don't mind being away from everything! The hotel is right on the beach. I never saw anyone else on the beach till the second day. I loved it! The hotel is away from all of the crowds.

Marbella Suites is very authentic looking: beautiful tile work everywhere. Our room was spacious and clean; we liked the free and easy phone calls to the U.S.; computer room had plenty of computers; nice big screen TV with recliners to relax in. I liked the pool and the grass huts on the beach for shade. The layout is very unique; the property graduates down a slope to the beach, with the rooms on different levels and tiled steps as you go down. Nice and quiet; probably not for 20-somethings that want lots of action. And who cares if the service in the restaurant is slow, it's like that everywhere in Mexico.

We did find Marbella to be a pleasant place to stay for anyone looking for a quiet spot by the ocean, away from crowded beaches and tourist attractions. The staff was pleasant and the food and drinks were good. We chose not to rent a car and relied on public transportation into the nearby towns....a good cultural experience!!

"The staff was very friendly and helpful. Most of the staff spoke English very well and were very helpful with booking reservations and setting up sun events for us to do. The food in the hotel was priced better than almost anywhere and was really good, Along with the reasonable prices also came great service. The massage therapist had hands like angels. (Best massage I've ever had). :) The hotel was very quiet and had a great view."

The Marbella Suites hotel promisses to improve its appearance from the road. Although they are working in the frontal part of the building, you hardly hear the sounds inside the strip of suites that leads to the pool area and beach. Personel are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very big, but they need certain ammenities such as TV, Internet connection, and light switches by the bed. Most of them do not offer ocean view, which is nice from the restaurant. You get what you pay. I do not recommend it if you do not have a rental car nor you are willing to take the public transportation, as there is nothing around the property in terms of restaurants or shops. We had a car, so we could eat either in San Jose or San Lucas, as we were in the middle of the Corridor. The beach is not for swimming, but this is often the case in most of the Corridor and San Jose hotels.

"Large room, rather rustic, not very clean. No TV or phones in rooms. Lobby is at the top of the hill and the floors go down towards the beach. No elevator, I had 106 stairs to my room. Twice that to the pool and more to the beach. Rooms are large though and perfect for young people in large groups. No entertainment on site except pool, hot tub and beach. It's 11 miles from Cabo so a car is a necessity. Parking is right off the highway, I saw only 8 spots so that could be a problem."

The hotel is beautiful, great landscaping, right on the beach, but in the middle of nowhere between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose. And let me mention there are lots and lots of stairs-150+ from the beach to the street, 76 from the street to our room, toting our luggage! (they're installing an elevator) We checked in on Friday night and we were disappointed in the size and cramped spaces of the room, no TV, no phones to call the front desk (don't forget the stairs!). So we upgraded to the Presidential Suites with 2 bedrooms and they were much nicer, with TV and phone. It was 9:00 at night and the bar and restaurant were already closed. That's because we were the only ones staying there. They did reopen the bar for us, which was very accomodating. However, over our 4 day stay, they ran out of bottled water for 2 days, no orange juice, no pineapple juice, ran out of mango margarita mix after making 3 margaritas, and the list goes on of what they didn't have. They did have lots of cranberry juice. During our entire 4 day weekend stay, we saw only 2 other guests staying there (but they left after one night). The closest restaurants, shopping, grocery store, etc. is a $30-$35 cab ride each way. The hotel has great promise, but bring everything you would need to eat or drink, because their inventory is very limited. There were 7 of us in the (2) suites and so we basically had the hotel, pool, restaurant and beach to ourselves, which was pretty nice. If you're looking for activities, this is not for you...if you're looking for peace and quiet, this is the place. Just bring what you need!

My husband and I stayed here thinking we wouldn't spend much time in the room. Not worth it. I would pay a lot more money for a much nicer place. Food was terrible, No hotel activities which made our last day seem like it lasted forever. You have to get a rental car, this place is in the middle of nowhere. I would spend the extra money and not be so cheap next vacation!!! It really would have made the trip more enjoyable.

Marbella Suites en la playa is a beautiful small hotel and the beach access is outstanding. Our group was practically the only guests during our stay. At first we were unsatisfied with our rooms (one bedroom suites) - small, no phones or TVs - but we upgraded to Presidential Suites and were very satisfied with them (there are only 2 on the property and both have phones and TVs!). The staff was excellent. The pool area was beautiful and the beach was excellent - absolutely beautiful and completey deserted. The bar was not stocked sufficiently and ran out of several items including bottled water. If you plan to spend a lot of time in town this may not be a good location for you. It is only about a 15 minute cab ride to town - not too bad - but we felt the cab rates were expensive. The hotel does not have an elevator but is currently installing one. There are approximately 176 steps from the front desk down to the pool/restaurant/beach - not so bad going down but imagine the uphill climb! Very difficult to get your luggage up and down! It will be great once the elevator is installed and I was told there are other upgrades underway as well. Me, my husband, and our friends liked the peace and seclusion and will most likely visit again - you can't beat the beach!! - we're waiting on the elevator!

We needed a place to stay for 2 days before going into our 7 day time share. It was very nice. The food was excellent. The beach is very nice but too rough to go in water. Free phone calls to USA and free internet was very nice touch. This is not for someone who can not handle steps. There are many of them.

The hotel has no elevator and tons of steps. Only 2 rooms have tv and phone. The staff was very friendly. They were embarrased that they ran out of everything we asked for exmple:bottled water, beer, mango etc...

"We stayed at Marbella Suites en la playa for 6 nights. It is such a lovely hotel. The staff made us feel as if we were old friends. It was so nice to be treated as indivudals instead of a couple of visitors among so many that you are almost invisible, or lost in the shuffle. The hotel manager actually served us breakfast one day. We also loved the design of the buildings and the tiles on the stairways. We are recommending Marabella to all of our friends."

It was better than i ever expected! This hotel was really beautiful, set apart from everything else so i spent 3 days on a beach with very few others around. The staff was incredibly helpful, especially the front desk. There was a hurricane that came through that kept me an extra day and they didnt' charge me for the night i had to stay because all flights were canceled. They sent me flashlights, batteries and were beyond a doubt incredibly helpful and caring. I was so pleased with everything before the bad weather arrived and even more impressed with the hotels support and friendliness in the face of the bad weather. i will definitely go back here and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation near on the beach! And i had the most amazing massage on a rock that overlooked the beach. it was fantastic!

"Its true views are wonderful, a lot of stairs, but the staff is very friendly, the dinning is good, but does take some time to wait for. The bus is availble, taxis are roughly 25 a trip so you may want to rent a car. "

"BEAUTIFUL hotel that looks exactly like the pictures posted. The rooms were large and very decent. The hotel is located 5-10 minutes from downtown Cabo, which cots you a $25 taxi ride each time to and from the hotel. I spent $200 on taxi rides for just a 4 day vacation. The service at the resturaunt is HORRIBLE - eat in town. Good hotel for the money."

"The hotel is between San Jose and Cabo. It was private. Transportation was not an issue. There is a city bus stop right outside the hotel that costs $1.50. Hotel is basic-no frills but very clean, staff was helpful, food was very good but the service at the restaurant was s-l-o-w. Unlimited free internet,US and local phone calls. If you are looking for a quiet place to relax and recharge for a few days and can tolerate the inconsistent service this is a good value for the money. "
