Great place to stayWe were two couples traveling together. The two rooms were beautiful and comfortable. There was attention to detail, like a blackout shade under the draperies. I had the best nights' sleep there that I had on the two week trip. Gavin and Christopher were very hospitable. They helped with printing out directions, and made helpful suggestions on where to go and what to do. Breakfast and dinner were terrific. There was parking just on the other side of the building across the street. We'd stay there again in a hearbeat.

Not so ManorHausNot much flexibility e.g. I arrived at 9.40pm (just 40 mins after close of kitchen) having not eaten since the morning and when asked whether a sandwich could be made I was told to go to the Chinese next door (even though the hotel owners were still sitting around having a drink with each other!). I also requested a late checkout but was told this wasn't possible and had to work in the hotel library instead (more like a cupboard with books).Nothing intuitive about the hotel, e.g. no formal reception desk, not obvious where tea making facilities were kept in the room and a tiny bathroom/wetroom more like high end student accomodation than a boutique hotel. No hotel parking a real problem (i.e. I couldn't find a space in the alleged shared car park so had to use pay and display). I have stayed in 4 other hotels via Laterooms in the last 4 months. This was the worst in terms of value for money by quite some way.

Unique Place to stayA great little gem of a place to stay. Superb food and pleasant hosts. The room we had was fantastically unique and creates a memory of our short stay much more than any other hotel would. Great attention to detail.

Overall a very pleasing stay, and good value for money. The room was very comfortable and the artist theme gave the room something a little more individual over most hotels. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room quiet, it is good to see some effort has gone in to making the place different from the norm. The evening meal was of a good standard and reasonably priced. Breakfast also good. It would have been nice to see some draught beers in an otherwise well stocked bar. There is no on site parking and these minor points are the only down side. I will look forward to staying there again

Great for a breakExcellent boutique type hotel. Well decorated and furnished, very friendly and attentive (without ever being too) hosts. Room we stayed in was a little small, but we had a good rate to no call for complaint, and it was stylishly put together.Food was very good - the beef was an excellent cut, the wine list well priced but a little short.

All of the 'little things' had been thought about - right from the lovely towels and bed-linen to the quality of toiletries and even the toilet paper! The bathroom itself, although compact was very well designed with a great shower and again nice touches such as the 'heated' mirror. For a small hotel facilities were great - wonderful to have use of Steam room / Sauna, Mini Gym, Library (including films). Having said all of that, even if the hotel was awful (which it certainly is not), I would go back simply for the food which was 'Outstanding'. Both evening meal and breakfast were absolutely delicious. Again all the nice touches were there in the presentation of the food and quality of the ingredients. There was a really nice ambiance in the restaurant created by a combination of the décor, music and the warm welcome received from owners Chris and Gavin. We will certainly be returning to the Manorhaus and would recommend to anyone.

The food was execellent and good value. The hotel is a little frayed round the edges but it was clean. Would stay again on the basis that the restaurant was very good.
