The outside and lobby are beautiful. Evidently the buck stops there. Rooms were rather small with no amenities. Uncomfortable bed with no bedspread, and leaky faucet in bathroom, not to mention train and trolley whistles and horns all night. Staff was very indifferent.

close to the convention, great hotel

The view was spectacular and the spa was a treat! Charging for parking when you are a guest, the wait to get out of parking lot and charge for gym facilities.

Nice hotel. Staff friendly and always helpful. My wife stayed here previously, a couple of years back and had a very positive experience when the staff went out of their way to help when she got sick.

Hotel is lovely.. problem is the TRAIN.. it blast it's horn.. for safety I think and kept me awake at 2am, 3am etc! Upon hotel check-out line was out the door.. left key and checked out with bell man.. Never recieved hotel bill to submit for businees expenses! Had to call 3 times, finally got it.

The hotel is conveniently located downtown, but that is where the positives end. I booked the hotel directly from their website and paid for it in advance. When I checked in they refused to give me the rooms I booked at the rate I booked and charge me more. Then, they charged me $28 a day for parking for the whole week-long stay even though I only had a car for one day. They also charged $12.99 for daily internet service for the whole week even though I only used it one day. The rooms were small and nothing special. The food was awful and expensive, and the service non-existent. I love Hyatt hotels and stay at them everywhere I travel, but I would never stay at this place again.

This Hotel is beautiful, the rooms are a little outdated in the old tower section, but still have a terrific view of the san diego bay. Rooms on the 17th floor are quiet and we could not hear any noise from the trains/trolly just across the street. The beds are very comfortable. If you've never been to San Diego, I do recommend staying at this hotel for the close proximity to Seaport Village, the Gas Lamp District, the Zoo and all the great restaurants within walking distance! Try getting a room in the new tower, above the 17th floor.

This hotel was great and located in the quaint community of Seaport Village. Lots to do within walking distance or taking the trolley from across the street. Just across from Coronado Island, great views. The top floor is a must!

Perfect location only about a $15 taxi ride from the airport. Nice lounges, great views, didn't travel as a family, but could see family activities available that looked fun.

I just got back from a conference and stayed here for 3 nights. Nice rooms, comfy beds, but a bit on the loud side. The train that runs by the convention center is VERY loud (I've also stayed at the Marriott and you can hear it there, too) and as we returned from dinner one night I stopped at the desk and requested some earplugs. Not 10 minutes passed and a very nice hotel engineer came to my room with 3 pairs of disposable earplugs! Also, at a breakfast event I attended, the waitstaff offered to bring me a fruit plate when I passed on the bacon and eggs they were serving that morning. There were 3 tea drinkers at our table of 8, and all were served hot water with an assortment of tea bags and honey and lemon, plus refills on the water! Usually if you ask for tea, it takes forever to get to you-- after everyone else has had their second cup of coffee-- and then they forget all about you. Well done, Hyatt waitstaff! We also attended several hospitality suites and the food was quite good. Dined at Sally's on the waterfront and I had a wonderful scallop and shrimp salad. Also enjoyed the chipotle cobb salad at Redfield's (I think that was the name), which had surprisingly good food for a sports pub. The only negative is that everything is a bit spendy, $15 and $16 for the salads, and $8 for a small glass of wine at one of the non-hosted events we attended. I suppose that's to be expected at a big hotel, tho. The housekeeper on my floor was a doll, and the employees were all friendly and helpful. Absolutely made my stay!

Hotel is located in a convienient spot to get most everywhere. Seaport Village is just steps out the back door , as well as great access to the "Big Bay'. While I've read others have had problems with the staff, in the three times we have stayed here , we have found them to be both helpful and pleasant. They are trying to accomadate more families and there is a notable difference due to this. While it is nice for parents with children, it would be nice if those parents would take responsibility for the mess they make or at minimum supervise their children so as to take others into consideration. It's great to find fault about the hotel staff and complain about cleanliness, however these same people would absolutely flip if their kids left marshmellows stuck to furniture , seating areas, ect. Guess they figure it is the hotel's responsibility to clean it up, personally I would be embaressed. Good things : on site car rental, nice rooms, location, location, location. Tons of things within walking distance, trolley right accross the street, pedicabs and taxi cabs. Midway museum just down the street, good restaurants all within walking distance, water taxi to Coronado Island right next door. You can save about *a night staying out of the marina area, but it is worth the extra * bucks to stay here.

Friendly. Not great for people with feather allergies. The hotel said that they would remove all of the feather product prior to our check in. What we got was a small package in the closet that was hard to notice, which consisted of a blanket and a pillow. All of the down products were still on the bed. We asked for another non down comforter, and more pillows. We got the pillows, along with another down comforter. Also, the parking for hotel guests was 22 dollars for the night. We thought that this was a bit high. Other than these 2 things, we thought that the hotel was pretty decent, but we would have been upset had we paid the full price for the room.

The best part about this hotel is its location and views. The hotel is close proximity to everything, in fact the trolley stops in front of the hotel. At the rear of the hotel there is an entrance to Seaport Village. Our room was on 30th floor, a "premium" view room. It was indeed a premium view of both San Diego bay and downtown. The not so good aspects are as follows: If you plan on paying with a debit card upon check in, think twice. They hold an additional * dollars over and above the total cost of your room for incidentals. The business center closed early and I found that to be an inconvenience to say the least. When I asked about the early closure I was told that I should have asked about the possibility of this happening when I booked the room??!! As well, Internet access is not free. The first ten minutes is 5 dollars and so on... The restaurant 'Laels" was overpriced. The steak was good, but the fake mashed potatoes and caramelized onion for two came to an amazing 87 dollars. Oh yes, the valet parking was an extra * dollar flat fee. We waited 45 minutes for the valet to get our car when were ready to leave. Of course, we could have self-parked, that would have saved 4 dollars. Lastly, and most disturbing, I did not pay for the key for the snack cabinet in our room. But after going home and looking over my bank account, I was charged a whopping 25 dollars for snacks that I could not have eaten. I called and got the fee reversed, but the ordeal took 30 minutes of my time. Final Analysis: The view/location is unparalleled, expect nothing else grand.

This is a decent place to stay for the money. If you are looking for a hotel where the service will blow you away... this aint it. The cost and the location were good, but the hotel is so big that it is hard for the staff to effectively deal with all of the guests needs. While a small number of the service folks were great (we had the best waiter in the resturant) it gets canceled out with other flaws (we had to wait 1 hour and 20 minutes at the hotel resturant to be seated for our free breakfast). The place is clean and right on the water in the Gaslamp district, but I would compare it to flying on Southwest airlines. Low price, but service to go with it.I also had to haggle with hotel staff a few times about perks that were supposed to come with the room according to the website like the free breakfast and the actual rate of the room.

The hotel is great but the maids didn't move my closed pill containers from the bathroom sink and soaked them. The pills were unusable. This caused me to have to use an emergency medical service for refills. This may prevent me from further stays at this hotel. The desk, assistant manager, and checkout person didn't seem that interested.

Great location. Our room had an excellent view of San Diego Bay. Some assumed amenities were missing from our room (ice bucket, do not disturb sign, etc).

Former resident of San Diego. We stayed over during Thanksgiving holiday just before completing move to Atlanta. Loved it. The lobby was immense and extremely nice, staff excellent, and room was great. Roll out bed for our four year old was free. I thought this was very nice. Resturants in back of the hotel were very nice. Check out the deli in back for some good eats! Only two complaints valet parking fees were a little high at $27 a night. You can self park for $20 a night. However, if you have a vehicle recommend the using valet if you have bags. Room service was a little high. Two burgers (one of them was kids), two diet cokes and a fudge ice cream with the kid was $50 before the tip. Understanding this was the Hyatt.
