This hotel was very casual - great for families that are looking to go to very expensive Maui on a budget. They were very friendly and welcomed our little one, although not in the small rooms. You have to get a condo if you have children. It's right on the most beautiful beach! The pool is small but lovely. The restaurant had good happy hours - great Mai Tais. You can book activities and luaus. Overall we loved it.

We book The Mana Kai through Condo Rentals of Hawaii and we paid for a one bedroom, new renovated room on the top two floors of the condo. What we got was an UN-RENOVATED one bedroom STUDIO on the second floor (ABOVE the dining area. Since you HAVE to pay in advance you have little recourse. The staff at the facility and Condo Rentals couldn't care less that we were disatisified. I will never book through Condo Rentals of Hawaii again.

We stayed in one of the hotel rooms not one of the condos the condos are very nice but the hotel rooms are set up to be a second bedroom for the condos so they are very small, about 10x12 and share a common hall with an outside door. We checked in and went to the room the bathroom had little ghost ants all over the place, so we went to the front desk to see about moving, they moved us to what they said was the only other room they could put us in so we moved. The new room was just like the first room, we didn't see any ants so we stayed. Later we found that if you closed the door to the bathroom all the way you would be in there for the next 5-10 minutes trying to get the door back open and that this room had ants also. We checked at the desk and were told that they couldn't do anything so we picked up some bug spray at the store and fixed the ant problem. The hotel rooms have a nice view of the parking lot only the condos have the nice ocean view with a lanai (patio). The second night we stayed the power went out very early in the morning3-4 until 7-8 in the morning. If we could get a good price we would stay in one of the condos but I would never stay in one of the hotel rooms again.

You can't beat the location. You might as well call it Wailea. It's a 1/2-mile from the classiest location on Maui. Steps from a very under-rated beach. Wow. My wife and I spent most of our time just lounging around and doing nothing. With the volcano behind us covered with clouds, our beach was cloudless and always the perfect temperature. Kihei itself isn't a bad spot. It's not full of tourists like Lahaina. It's busy...but it's not filled with resorts like the Western part of the island. Great beaches are everywhere around the Mana Kai Maui. The food in the area is awesome as well. As for the sunset...amazing!!! You can't find a better restaurant than the one in the hotel to watch the sun go down. It's a wonderful location. The hotel is also cheap...you surely get your best bang for your dollar!!! It's the third time I've stayed at this hotel. And despite its outdatedness (it still has a VCR) I'd stay here again...and again...and again.

My husband and I have stayed in Maui in Kaanapali the past 2 times. We loved Kaanapali - but after staying in Kihea - we loved the beach more. Less touristy and not crowded. I would definitely stay at Mani Kai condo again. Did not have to leave the premises for the 3 days. Beautifil beach - you can walk for a good 2 miles before having to turn back- snorkeling was the best - saw whales from our patio.. Also, 5 Palms restaurant downstairs has a wonderful breakfast, great happy hour - 1/2 price appitizers and drinks, and dinner was great - also the italan restaurant across the way at the Best Western was better then some italian restaurants I have been to in NYC (pricey as well - but well worth it). Overall, Mani Kai was just what we wanted - clean, comfy (new couch was delivered the day we arrived to the room) brand new bath and picture perfect view from our balcony.

This hotel really suprised me. For what we paid you could not get something better. We stayed in one of the hotel rooms, which does not have a balcony, but we did have a ocean view from out our window. Not all the hotel rooms have an ocean view. The hotel has recently been updated and all finishes look new. The pool is very nice and the grass area next to the beach is great also. The hotel restaurant is over priced, but there are plenty of other good places to go near by. All in all it was another great trip to Maui. Would definately go back to Mana Kai.

The Mana Kai could not be better situated, close to Wailea and directly on Keawakapu Beach. The hotel room accomodations, however, appear to be frozen in the 1970s, with crumbling bathroom fixtures, cottage cheese ceilings, and not-so-heavenly beds. In addition, the hotel room accomodations lack a private lanai, which is a bit disappointing when you are perched on such a gorgeous beachfront.

My family booked a room for us at the hotel without us knowing about it and when I asked to get the 250 cancellation fee waived the "customer service" reps X and Y (supervisor) were extremely unhelpful. They told me to call Travel agency and Travel agency told me to call them. I did so and after some minutes Y hung up on me. When I called back she claimed that we had a bad connection and the line was "lost". Even though we are staying there at the hotel they would still not waive the fee.

The hotel room (as opposed to the condo room (they can be rented as a suite) was pretty small--two twins pushed together, a small desk, and two chairs. Also I found trash under the bed. The view is gorgeous: the beach, the palms, the waves, the pool. I liked the lobby--unually pretty lamps and artwork. The Five Palms (the restaurant in the hotel) was very romantic--especially at sunset. The wait staff easily took care of several large parties. The deli and store, Zach's, was handy.

Excellent maid service every day! Amazing beach just steps away from your room- stay in the Ocean-side rooms, they are worth the extra money!

Staying here was nothing but relaxation. Our condo had the most beautiful ocean view and it was in good condition. This hotel has the perfect beach that is great for kids. The snorkeling was terrific and just what I had imagined. This hotel is for those vacationers that are not looking for a crowded beach with many tourists. This is a beach that you will find locals and friendly staff. My husband (a native to the land) and I cannot wait to take our kids there again.
