Clean rooms, reasonable rates

The hotel was attractive, worth the money. There were some kind of biting bugs all around the back of the hotel facing the beach. The hotel was fairly nice and most of the staff was friendly and helpful. I didn't like it that we had to pay 3 dollars a day for parking. Also the room attendant we had cleaned our room the last day we were there and we had forgotten our beach towels and some linen.

The location was wonderful. Right on the beach, easy to get to, nice pool. Our room was spacious with a kitchenette. It was quite run down looking, relatively clean but not great. All the maid service did was replace the towels, did no picking up or cleaning. The beds were HORRIBLE! I was not worried about them being dirty as they were plastic. They were the noisiest things I have ever been on. All in all, except for the beds, I would stay again.

The rooms are in need of major renovations. The facilities are old and the rooms are run down. Didn't feel that my surroundings were clean and I did not feel comfortable in my room because of this.

We were here for a weekend as we do every other weekend, trying yet another place in Daytona Beach. This place was not clean at all, very noisy, in poor repair. We also had issues with the pool, when I foung some globs of snot floating around I took a closer look (from out of the pool) and fpound that they do not even run the filters durring the day, so yes, that stuff floated around all day till it found someone to cling to to get out! Never again.

The good thing was the fact that the hotel was on the ocean. Excellent for those who want the ocean at their door step.

While this property may look a bit older from the road, the rooms are large, comfortable, and clean. The kitchen is excellent and very spacious and the staff are extremely helpful. The pool was wonderful and there is even a hot tub. The beach was well kept and the kids had a great time. The location is also nice for families with miniature golf right across the street, donuts and coffee within two block, and numerous restaurants. I would definitely stay there again. An excellent value.

I have stayed at the Makai several times before. It was always clean, friendly staff, and reasonable price. We've always enjoyed staying here. However, this was the most disgusting room I've EVER stayed in before. The room smelled funny. There was food left in the trash can in the kitchen and the dish clothes were left over from the previous people. They were left in the sink. The carpet obviously had not been vaccumed. There was food under the bed along with toe nails. The shower didn't look clean and when I got into the shower and pulled back the curtain, someone's used wash cloth fell from the top. The bed had hair on it and I couldn't sleep because I felt like something was on me all night. It was MISERABLE! I got into my room late after going to eat and was only staying for the one night and leaving early the next morning to get on the cruise ship. If it had been for longer, I would have left! I've never felt this way at a hotel before. I don't know if the owners have changed, but I'm willing to bet the couple that ran it when I stayed previously on occassions is no longer in charge. I was totally disgusted with the room! I told the front desk that morning and all I got was an "I'm sorry!" I have reccommended this place to many of my friends, but I certainly won't again.

Location was great, room was clean, lobby was nice, large breakfast area, nice staff. Carpet had the salty feeling to it, but being on the beach you have to expect that, beds could be updated. If your used to the nicer things in life you would not like this hotel. Clean and we could walk right out onto the beach. The pool was nice and clean, although the pool chairs could use an upgrade. The Jacuzzi was clean and felt great at night with the cool ocean breeze. Overall, I'd stay here again for the money.

We stayed at this Hotel and was very happy with our stay. We had a Ocean front room and would go back to this hotel again.

Inexpensive, on the ocean and good pool. Appearance, slow elevators and musty smell. Great location and view on the ocean if you are traveling on a very limited budget.

The location you can not beat! Very nice staff. Pool and small workout room. Parking is difficult if you have a tall vehicle. The kitchen between the room was huge for most hotels. Being right on the ocean the balcony views were great! I know that many (including this one)hotels along A-1-A in the Daytona Area were either damaged greatly or just destroyed during the hurricanes in 2004 but most never fully recovered. But the Makai Beach Lodge has been remodeled and is much better off than most of its competitors.

Wonderful little town and location. The staff was great. Elevator dirty, no screen on patio door, paint peeling in bathroom ceiling, room door was not very attractive (had been broken several times.) Although the staff was wonderful the property needs a lot of maintenance. There was peeling paint almost everywhere you looked. Elevator slow and dirty and please, screen needed on patio door. Parking leaves a lot to be desired.

The Makai Beach Lodge is obviously an older hotel and could use a little refurbishing on the room door (which still required an ordinary key with only one available) and bathroom door, but the carpeting, drapes and bedspreads were in excellent condition and everything was very clean. The minor damages were no big deal, as the cost was reasonable and we were on the third floor overlooking the ocean. The room temperature was perfect, the shower worked fine and we even had a kitchenette with dishes, etc. Continental breakfast was free and plentifully supplied. I was disappointed not to have free wireless Internet, but no other complaints. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat. If you're fussy and like everything four-star, you probably won't like Makai, but if you have kids and they like to use the pool, this is your place. Nice pool, easy access to the beach. All good!

Friendly staff andgreat view. The staff was very friendly, the view was amazing. We were able to bring our dog which was nice. I would stay here again for sure.

The rooms are completely equipped with a full kitchen appliances. Thus, enabling guests to cut back on costs of eating out for lunch/dinner. Continental breakfast was satisfying with 3 juice options. Rooms very clean and spacious. Pool area was well kept and clean with wading pool for younger kids. The staff was very friendly and helpful to all our needs. Great location across the street from Mini Golf. Also, we could walk to several stores. The only thing I noticed was that the room could use some slight touch ups with paint. Would definitely stay here again.

Great location on the strip and good price. I wore socks in the room the whole time because the carpet was old and dirty. Overall, it was great for the price. I only needed it to sleep at, so that was up to par. There was mostly spring breakers at the hotel, so I was fine with that but other people with children might not have liked that.

Not the newest of hotels, but we were satisfied with the hotel, pools, beach, hotel rate and breakfast they served. Convenient location for what we needed the hotel for.

Convenient location, easy to find, and easy to get to Bike Week activities. Some loud neighbors. This place actually exceed what I thought I'd be getting. They had cordoned off a covered area for motorcycles (even though it didn't rain), it was appreciated. The room was fairly clean and spacious and had a fairly nice breakfast area with a decent view.

Makai Lodge was a great deal for our money and in a great location. Located just a little north of Daytona Beach, we were in short driving distance of anything we could want to do. Our room was right on the ocean with a beautiful view. Our only complaint would be the thinness of the walls and the fact that we could hear every door around us opening and closing....however, still worth the money.
