| Great landmark hotel on a prime location (upscale Passeig de Gracia).
Excellent service, room well equipped and of a good size. Breakfast is one of the best I have had.
Concierge recommended us great tapas places within walking distance.
Ideal for a short break.
The Christmas lightings were fabulous... |

I was shocked to see that the maids rummaged through our suitcases and helped themselves to our property. They took a cell phone and blackberry set up for USA service only. Plus, they took a broken camera. We felt very unsafe staying here. While we toured the beautiful city of Barcellona, our property was up for grabs by the hotel staff! These items have no value to the maids but having them gone is an inconvenience to us. We had trouble meeting the driver of the car service at the airport when we arrived home. Plus we had to arrange for replacement phones. We went on to Madrid from Barcellona and stayed at the Urban Hotel. They delivered a bottle of wine to our room on the first night. We left a tip for the maids for the nice setup on the first day. They left that tip on the desk all week. What a contrast! The Urban truly is a 5 star hotel. This one is not even close.

We stayed at the majestic for ten days and they put us in a room overlooking over a utility/service cortyard. with twin beds put togather the bed was so uncomfotable our bodies hurt in the morning. Next day they moved us to a slightly better room with one double bed and a view to a parking lot not what you expect from a five star hotel. The fron desk was nice but the doorman & other staff were never helpful unless ask.. good location.

The hotel was ideally located on the passiag de Gracia, however given it's high rating and 5 stars, I did expect a little bit more. The room was more like a good 4-4.5 stars. The desk staff were professional, but not terribly personal, and when we arrived on 30th December and were inquiring about New Year's eve - their response was that we should have organised something prior to arrival and were not particularly helpful in making suggestions (thank goodness for Maribel's guide to Barcelona). The rooftop terrace, a big selling point was also closed for renovation and we were not told this previously. I think there are better places to stay for the same money.

Unfortunately the hotel's 10th floor was closed off limiting some of the facilities. The hotel either has heating or air conditioning on. In a warm February the hotel was on the heating mode so we had no cooling. This led to a noise issue as the windows had to be open and we overlooked a busy junction. The traffic, vehicle sirens and overuse of the horn meant we needed ear plugs. We asked at reception for extra pillows and water to be left in the room as my wife was 7 months pregnant. When we got back none of these things were done. So after phoning reception a man appeared with a bottle of water and no pillows. He then charged us 12 Euros in cluding 5 Euro service charge! He then had to make a third call for the extra pillows. Upon checkout we did get an apology and the charge removed. The junior suite was very nice though. The location was walkable to the shops and the bus stops. There were some restaurants in walking distance. Breakfast in the hotel was good.

Good to excellent overall. Great locaiton. Attentive, multilingual staff. Small outside pool on roof adjacent to outstanding outdoor rooftop bar/lpounge with best view of city. Still undergoing construciton so all elevators were not working and there were some detours within the hotel corridors. Room size larger than usual for Europe. Great bathroom, towels, robes and slippers were provided but not soft.

Very impressive hotel. Excellent service; we arrived early and our room was not ready but the front desk gave us a free upgrade to a larger room with a balcony. One of the cleanest and nicest hotels at which we've every stayed.

Positive: staff very professional and service-minded. Negative: standard rooms are TINY. Air conditioning not working properly (only heating). Lots of noise from the busy road. Room service expensive, its quality moderate. Leisure area was closed for renovation (this should be notified when a reservation is made)

This was our third stay here and as always it was excellent. Rooms may vary - some smaller than others, but they are well equipped and reasonably stylish. Bathrooms are good with plentiful supplies of good quality towels and toiletries. Location excellent on Passeig de gracia - can walk easily to cathedral, markets, Ramblas, shops and bus to airport if you don't want taxi. Bar is nice - great people watching, though obviously more expensive than those outside hotel (about 18 euro for 2 glasses of wine) We had 1 drink there each night before we went out. Breakfast good - nicest tasting fresh fruit(especially oranges) I have ever had. Nice breads/meats/cheeses, hot selection and the rest. We got 3 nights for 2 which made it very reasonable value.

Based on European standards this is a very fine hotel. Rooms and beds are smaller in Europe than we're used to here in US. But everything was clean, all staff very friendly and helpful, location was fantastic, outside of bldg was gorgeous at night and the rooftop pool area a definite ""must see""--the view is incredible both day and night!!!!!"

Fancy, but strict and unpersonal. Only male staff. Poor beds in standard rooms. Fancy restaurant, but breakfast in the basement in room with no space. The breakfast is NOT worth the money!!

The Majestic is superbly situated at the Paseo de Gracia, at walking distance of whatever you might need. Clean hotel with friendly people, although the standard rooms are small and quite noisy if situated on the street side. These rooms do have a balcony though!

The price agreed upon was not the price I received. There were two reservations instead of one under my name. The first night the room was very noisy; I switched rooms. The hotel is redoing the entire lobby, which we should have known and perhaps gotten some sort of compensation, such as drinks? Pool is tiny.Overall, though, it was great.
