The room we had was so clean with a Jacuzi tub. Service was oustanding. Food was exellent and really nice place to enjoy. Pools were oustanding.. Beach was breath taking..... A bit pricey but totally a resort i`d recommend for anyone looking for a top resort.

The hotel was fairly new, the front desk people were friendly, the room was serviced all day and kept clean and well equiped. Internet was available for reasonable charge. An effort was being made for daily entertainment. The beech was not that great; the ocean floor was part sandy and part rocks. The food was on the average side. Overall the place was very good. We enjoyed our stay their and we recommand this hotel.

Let me start off by saying the Majestic Colonial is a gorgeous place! If you saw our pictures you'd think what I'm about to tell you can't be possible. The drive from the airport is so depressing .. The beach is beautiful but be aware of people selling cigars and jewelry. They charge a lot of money for junk! The pool is great but stay away from the pool bar. People are there all day long drinking and noone ever leaves to use a bathroom. Needless to say the water is extremely warm!. My brother-in-law broke his arm and had to go to the hospital. There aren't enough words to describe that experience! There were 12 people in our group and one by one everyone started experiencing severe stomach pain . We are home now and still experiencing bouts of it. It seemed that every time you ate or drank, you had better know where the banya (bathroom) is. The food gets played out right away, same every day. We lived on pasta and potatoes and bread. None of the beverages are ever cold. It's amazing, even with ice in your drink, the ice never melts and the beverage is tepid at best. Overall the staff was pretty good but if you don't know any Spanish it can be pretty tough. You absolutely cannot leave the resort. The rooms are beautiful, the beds and pillows terrible.

We stayed at the resort for 7 days, it was quite a vacation, even though it rained for 3 days, end of Sept - hurricane season. The staff was quite accomodating and entertaining. No complaints on the hospitality. There was quite a variety of food, but they were unable to maintain the buffet HOT. One other problem I encountered, I had cash on me for the trip, when I decided to withdraw additional cash from the ATM at the resort, the ATM was down for the remainder of my stay - 5 days. The resort only has 1 ATM. We had to walk to another hotel to withdraw PESOS, and then the hotel was not willing to exchange it for dollars. Keep in mind that this resort is based on the US Dollar, and not the Peso. If you are traveling from any other country you will have to exchange your money to US dollars....Next time I know to bring enough US dollars for tips and other expenses, and not depend on the ATM at the hotel. The ATM at the other location is not that close and it does not feel safe.....

We booked this last minute as another trip had to be suddenly cancelled due to misinformation. And what a great time we had. This resort is beautiful. We got the Junior Suite and it was fabulous. We had a four post bed, in-room jacuzzi and terrace. The pictures are accurate on this one! The pool is almost the legnth of the resort so it is never too crowded, alot of privacy, it was all just lovely. Only downside was the food. It wasnt horrible. It is an all-inclusive so in my experience it's never amazing...but it was descent. The Buffet and Le Gourmet were our favorite spots. We didnt get to to the Japanese restaurant but it looked great. Food was fine, we ate well - it's just wasnt amazing. However, staff and service and helpfulness really made it all worthwhile. Oh and an added bonus was they had nightly shows - circus (kind of like cirque de solel), a magic show, etc. It was a great time!

We were at the resort from 9/6-9/13 (during Hurricane Ike) - thankfully the hurricane didn't effect our trip - the weather was beautiful. The resort itself it beautiful. Upon arrival they greeted us with a cold drink and the service during the entire week was wonderful - everyone was kind, friendly and always smiling - they attempted to speak English and we didn't have a problem communicating. We didn't enjoy the steak house but the rest of the restaurants were good - the Japanese food was excellent - make a point to get reservations there as soon as you arrive. We didn't enjoy the Mexican food much but the French was good. Overall a great trip - beautiful room and very nice people - well worth the money!!

This resort was perfect for what we were looking for. Beautiful grounds, friendly staff, good food, nightly entertainment. We had a wonderful time and I would definitely recommend it to others. One Note: Due to the size and layout of the resort, there are very few rooms with a "ocean view" and the view wasn't really worth the extra charge.

Once you arrive and get your luggage at airport, you will be bombarded by cab drivers. Ask a couple of guys and pick the cheapest-watch your luggage carefully. They may take a few ppl from other resorts in the van so you MAY be the last to be dropped off.Check in was quick, greeted with cool signature Majestic drink sort of like a daiquiri.Yummy! Rooms are clean, beds are comfy. Our suite had a jacuzzi(exposed) and it was 2dye4. AWESOME ! Avoid the giftshops at the resort, ridiculously overpriced. Better off taking a tour into town and getting souvenirs-way cheaper prices. They have a hibachi resturaurant, make the reservations before you travel, they are booked a week in advance. There is a restaurant called Taino, they have a great beef churrasca, get it,its good ! Exchange your money prior to going to DR, the locals will rip you off with the exchange rate incl at the front dresk.Get an intl plan on your cell. You buy a local phone card to call the US, they hotel charges 2 bucks to connect an outside local line, not worth it.Cingular had no blackberry svc either, check prior to your travel. Late nite eaters, hit the spot next to the disco, Roberto makes good plantains, burgers and wings,YUM! Each day photogs have an animal from the zoo that you can take pics with, good pics but way overpriced-be LEARY! On our last day, the lights went out and so did water for 5 hrs, not good. It happens on the isles but that is long for a resort. In the area, Maj is known for having the best food of all the resorts. Any liquids put in check in baggage, local employees may try to say its overlimit and take from your carry-on, Scam, so WATCH !

We were in honeymoon and they assigned us a room with 2 full size bed. When requested change, they told us that they were out of king size beds, that we would have to sleep in there for 2 nights, and we were just staying for 5 nights!! The front desk people are really rude. When we finally got our room with king size bed, it was nos what we expected. The rooms are okay, but not luxury at all. The beds are really unconfortable, we wer having back pain at the next day!! there are only 4 rooms oceanfront, so the picture is not what you are going to get. PLEASE really really check for other options because we were really dissapointed, and we discuss it with other people in the hotel and they felt the same way. On top of that I left a pijama and called them one hour after check out and they did not find it!!!! staff is friendly...

W were there for our honeymoon, and the first thing that dissapointed us is that we got a room with two full size beds!! we asked for a change immediately, but we got it the next day, the beds (all of them) are very unconfortable, you will get back pain!! The front desk staff is rude, the rest is wonderful. The day we check out my wife left her bathing suit, so we call from the airport, and the front desk guy told us that He would take care of that, so we were expedcting to get it back, but when we call back from our house, we spoke to the supervisor and He was not aware of the issue, there was no record that we called and of course the bathing suit did not appear!!! For the money you could get a better hotel!!!!! /the japanese restaurant is in the same room as the chinesee. The pictures are great, because when you get to the hotel is not as nice as you expect it to be.

If I saw the hotel before I knew the price,I would have thought I could not afford to stay there. It is very nice and grounds are excellant. The food was good, better than I expected. Nice beach and pools. Very nice room, nice size. I would go again, Great dollar value.
