The hotel was ideally located for seeing the sites in Athens--- easy walk to Acropolis. The view from the front rooms and the balcony were spectacular. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. Although the rooms were small, they were more than adequate. The breakfast was very nice with fresh squeezed orange juice. Our only complaint was that the bathroom's needed to be improved--- moldy caulking around tubs,etc. Nevertheless, we would recommend this hotel.

Beautiful locale and rooms. We had an excellent view of the Plaka and the Acropolis from our balcony. Our room had hardwood floors, a dressing table, comfortable bed, fluffy robes, armoire, and a beautiful hand-painted ceiling. Every morning, there was a breakfast buffet in the third floor garden patio, which was very handy given the Greek custom of having only coffee for breakfast. The staff was very friendly.

The hotel is in a great location. The only potential drawback is that it is just opposite the cathedral and the bells chiming may wake you - also some noisy traffic even with windows fully closed. However, not partricularly a problem for us. An individual hotel and a breath of fresh air in Athens!

The Magna Grecia is a beautiful hotel in the Plaka area of Athens within walking distance of all the major archeological sites, including the Acropolis, and numerous restaurants and shops. The hotel itself is about 150 years old but well maintained and updated and has amazing architecture. There is a fabulous view from the thrid floor terrace to the Acropolis. The bathroom is updated and clean and the bed is one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. A lovely top class hotel with more character than the standard new luxury hotels and right in the area you want to be.
