Magic Express is a simple hotel with few amenities. Quiet, with helpful front end clerk, but it s on the opposite side of the highway from the main area in Playa and not in a neighborhood that l would feel comfortable walking around in. But all in all not bad for a budget hotel.

Claen, safe, accomodating staff and friendly. It was an hour away from the town of Tulum where I initallly wanted a hotel! Helpful staff, clean, safe andsome what sterile.

we stayed there for 6 nights. you have to take taxis to get around. The beach is not even close to walikng distance. it cost you 50 pesos each way to the beach. The hotel doesn't have restaurant. room doesn't have any refrigerator or Microwave.basically you have to eat outside. if you wanna go to the closest restaurant you have to take taxi. we were privided with the Shuttle bus only for the first day. rest of the days we were on our own. if you think you are in cancun then you are wrong.Downtown Cancun is atleast 60 to 70km from this hotel which will cost you atleast $50 US dollar to get there. It will cost you $50 US dollar to just to get to the hotel from the Airport. WI-FI didn't work for 5 days. overall it was a bad experience....if you add up all the cab fares you will be spending atleast 3 to 4 hundred US dollars just for the cab fare.

Positive experience. Well worth what they charge. Want to enjoy Playa del Carmen without breaking the bank? Stay here and take a taxi to the beach. Beach is 5 mins away by car.

Very clean, comfortable beds and, quiet room allowing us to sleep well. It's located on the inland side of the highway away from the main part of town and the beach. This hotel seemed to be popular with somewhat formal Mexican business men travelers. As a tourist, we simply needed a place to sleep for the night before driving much farther south and this hotel more than exceeded those needs. They had so many people on staff cleaning, opening doors, etc that I was shocked because it was more or less the equivalent of an upscale Holiday Inn. We slept the best here because the rooms were quiet.

For the money Good Deal not a resort, Greta for business Fishing ect if your only need a place to shower and sleep Good staff, clean Would stay again. Not very far from Beach district a 2 minute taxi ride

You can get a free shuttle from 7am-7pm. ( if the driver is not off duty) The staff is wonderful and very friendly. Security is posted at the door 24/7!! Continental breafast is very good and plenty of food everyday. If you are out for a walk , it takes about 15 minutes walk from the beach to the hotel.

We had the phone number reported by ORBITZ. As we could not find it straight away, we called several times, but we never received an answer. When we got to the hotel after one hour driving around town, the reception staff were very unfriendly, I told about the phone number and the fact they never answered to give me directions to the hotel and they told me off and then gave me a brochure with the same phone number as Orbitz. The folowing day I complained and demanded to see the Manager, but I was denied this privilege twice and finally found out that the phone number was indeed wrong. I would not go back to this hotel, even if I got a room for free. The location is terrible, one block from the highway, hidden from view at night and the staff are terrible.

Great holiday inn knock off hotel in Playa, everything you would expect from a chain hotel in USA. This hotel is not on the beach or near 5th ave, but is a great option if you need to stay in Playa and not want to pay through your nose. It looks like someone build a holiday inn, near the main road that goes from Cancun to Tulum, and somewhere in the process decided to not have the franchise and named it magic inn, instead of holiday inn. It looks and feels just like a standard holiday inn that you find in the USA, along with much better breakfast. Room is clean, well kept, with flat screenTV and all the standard amenities. Lobby area is clean and well kept. Free wireless internet in the lobby and supposedly in the room, but we could not get great reception in the room as our room was at the end of a hallway. Free parking. You can come here to sleep and do whatever you want during the day. Overall a great place to spend a night.

my husband and i stayed here on nov. 9th-15th and was happily surprised how nice it was. we were greeted at the front desk very nice pleasant (english speaking was very good) and if we needed something he was always there to help. also the bar guy who worked 4-12 evenings was very nice. the hallways to the rooms were very dark not well lit. the rooms were very clean not too big, though the shower was greate bathroom was nice,air conditioning was good, i never saw one bug!! overall this place was really greate. we rent a car and have been to playa plenty of times so we just get up and go each day. plus they have a nice continental breakfast each morning. which was really nice,we only went out for breakfast once since we ate there in the morning. we would definately go back. location was only 5min down the road from 5th ave. there are buses also that takes you to playa. ther was enough space for your cloths to hang and put into draws too. could use a little more light though.

The staff was nice. The location was horrible. Although the inside is clean and decent, the location of the hotel makes it really poor. The staff, however, was very nice and attentive. There is no restaurant in the hotel, only a bar. The bartender was very helpful and kind as well. I would not recommend this hotel if you are looking for a nice Mexican getaway for some beaches and sun. It's not the right place for a decent vacation. It was scary to step outside because it's pretty much in the middle of the ghetto - we had to order our food to the hotel.

Magic Express Hotel was a great value. It really is not near the beach AT ALL, however they do have a shuttle van (which isn't always available) to take you there. Taking a taxi to and from the beach/clubs is not a problem and only costs a couple of bucks. There is a nice small continental breakfast. I'd watch the news on the flat screen tv and have my breakfast and read a few complimentary newspapers, incl. an english language one. The room itself was really nice in a lower end W hotel sort of way. Very nice small flat screen tv with cable and cool modern fixtures. I liked the electronic safe in the room which is always a neccessity when travelling. There was a small little gym with a treadmill and elliptical machine. Going along with how far away it is from the beach, the hotel seems to be a businessman's hotel with groups of shirt-wearing people in small conference rooms. To sum up I'd definitely stay there again. Magic Express a nice place!

Desk clerk speaks broken English. Desk clerk took 30 minutes to give me a key to my room because she didn't understand much English and would not get the manager (I got him myself). My room was 50 yards from the elevator, yet I could hear some canned chimes each time someone got on or off (Difficult to sleep and unnecessary). More like a new clean Motel 6 than a 2.5* hotel.

The hotel is close to the highway. When we checked in we had to wait about 20-25 min. The staff is very helpful. Internet is available but we had to pay additionally $2.50 per hour. The room was big enough, comfortable and very clean. The breakfast was the same every morning, lack of variety. The cups, the dishes and the forks were plastic. There are not many restaurants around - you have to drive to get to Playa del Carmen restaurant area. Overall, the hotel is ok for staying a couple of days.
