stayed for our wedding anniversary. most impressed with this hotel. read several negative comments which are totally unjustified. this hotel is so welcoming, laid back and with history flowing through every stunning original wall. it looks old, feels old- it is old- and should stay that way. if you want a clinically bland modern hotel then dont stay here. you will end up being one of those pathetic people that find nothing better to do than complain. This hotel is for lovers of history who thrill in soaking up the essence this beautiful old manor has to offer. enjoy

The Hotel was very quiet, not many guests staying at the time, but we were made very welcome.Atmosphere was very low key and relaxing The location is ideal for visiting the Ironbridge and the surrounding countryside. The room and facilities were adequate and kept clean.

Madeley Court Hotel, nr TelfordReally lovely building and grounds, good parking with cctv coverage, helpful and friendly staff, nice food, 24 hr bar (!) - with seating overlooking the lake at the back - overall very impressed. Although the shower could have done with some more water pressure, it was like showering under a slow leaking tap!

Madely Court Hotel ReviewA most enjoyable stay at this historic building thoughtfully restored with the service first class and the staff friendly and attentive.Dinner was most enjoyable with the food and service a pleasure to experience.Staff obviously enjoyed working in this hotel and could give local knowledge of the surrounding district ie The Iron Bridge and all the places of interest. The accommodation was faultless for a hotel of this standard.Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel either for a stay or just to dine in the restaurant.The dinner was extremely good value for the three courses.

Shabby & NeglectedMy room stank of cigarettes and the radiator was bashed in and rusty. Poor state of decor needs a complete facelift. Only had breakfast put that was poor quality

Madeley Court experienceThis hotel has recently been saved from closure by the Focus group and what a good job they are doing there. The Staff were polite, extremely helpful and professional. The room was spacious and nicely decorated with a view over a body of water. The meals (breakfast and dinner) were superb, the bar well stocked and comfortable and the service excellent. We will certainly stay here again and will recommend it to friends (provided they leave room for us!!)The history of the place is very interesting and the staff were well versed and eager to educate us. A lot of the old features remain.

if you want an authentic manor house experience staying in olde worlde accommodation this is the place for you. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the quirkiness of the hotel added to the charm of the place. They do have modern, new rooms so if you want the best of both worlds - power shower, new fittings etc stay in the modern wings but dine in the old dining room by candlelight and on cold nights the big open fire giving the room a lovely woody smell. Probably the best hotel we have stayed in for atmosphere, friendly, welcoming staff and good food - we've already booked to go again!

Country mansionThe setting and appearance of the hotel was superb.The interiors were authentic, awash with original features like a baronial manor house.The rooms were rather more basic with a less-than- usual degree of appointments, basic drinks and snack facilities for example.The bathroom, a very good size, had very few amenities, empty soap dispensers only one set of towels, that sort of thing.

Basic two night stayStayed for two nights due to our regular hotel the Coalbrookdale Inn being full. Adequate although surprisingly basic and food options limited and overpriced, therefore ate at our regular haunt

short business stayAvoid room 19, badly in need of refurbishment, only one bedside table and lamp and generally a dark, poorly lit room. Cannot keep window open as constant noise from an air con unit immediately outside. Shame because the hotel has tremendous character, staff are exceptionally helpful and food is pretty good value. Hopefully, new owners will spend money to bring the accommodation in line with the other positive attributes of the hotel. Would not stay here again until it is clear accommodation has been improved.

A real gem of a recently restored ruin. The main building and the public rooms are outstanding. The rooms are in the main building and in several surrounding attractive buildings. My room was in what must be an extension to the main building and was a good size but needed a little TLC and a bit more care with the fittings eg one tiny bedraggled bedside lamp with a thick shade for a room with a double bed and a single was literally neither use nor ornament. However, it was all good value for money and a welcome change from identical boring chain hotels. The staff were very helpful and even tried to find me a charger for my phone. I would stay again and wish them well. I was on business in Telford but it would make a good base for visiting Ironbridge Gorge.

Lovely, clean hotel. Friendly staff, good food. We stayed for the New Years Eve celebrations and due to the late night, breakfast and check out time were extended 1 hour. Fantastic!

Our initial welcome on checking in seemed a little 'disinterested'. However, this improved with a change of staff. The waiting service for dinner was superb, but service at breakfast was a little dissappointing after the previous evening. Very comfortable bed and spacious bathroom, however it was not possible to open the windows due to their design. This is our third stay here over the years and we would still return as the positives always outway any negatives.

The hotel was very comfortable and clean. We stayed on a Saturday night and had alot of trouble getting food. We ordered a bar snack whilst waiting for a table in the restaurant - after waiting an hour & 1/2 we cancelled the snack. At 9.30pm we finally got a meal. The kitchen was under pressure and could not keep up.

A lovely old hotel, easy to find, easy to check-in. However, that's where disappointment set in! The room was distinctly old/dated, and there wasn't even an additional loo roll! The TV remote was not functional - which wasn't surprising as the batteries in the remote were leaking, and (being Duracell) were dated: 2004!!!!!Bar and dinner staff were exceptionally polite and friendly, and the food of a good standard.No WiFi - a drawback for me, but not for all I guess.Definitely not a business destination; would no doubt be great for events, and weekends away.

We stayed here on a Sunday night after spending all day at a very muddy V Festival. As you arrive the hotel looks very impressive we took plenty of pics to show our friends who where staying in tents!! We arrived around 11am so could not check in but the staff where kind enough to look after our bags until we got back from the festival at 11pm. The staff on reception where very friendly and called us a taxi to take us to V Fest. After a hard days drinking and wading through mud we where over the moon to find we had a lovely large twin room. We had the full english for breakfast and it was very nice. No complaints and would definetely recommend this hotel.

Chronically understaffed. Long waits for anything from the kitchen. Housekeeping poor, milk in room sour and insufficient shampoo, soap etc. Heating on in corridor of East Wing on a hot day made the area stifling and large bore hot water pipe feeding radiators in room acted like a radiator itself. No apparent action following complaint to reception.This could be a great hotel, ancient manor house, nice setting etc. but needs a lot more attention to detail and more staff although those on duty were very friendly and apologetic about problems.
