OVER PRICED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Lovely setting and a nice hotel, not steam room working which was a let down, if you go have your wallet with you and make sure it is stocked up well.Drinks and food way over priced and just no need for the prices, Â£8 for a glass of wine, & Â£10 for a sandwich - r u having a LAUGH!!!!!!!!

honeymoon get awayWe did not get married at Craxton Wood, but were treated as though we had. The service and friendliness we received were excellent. We had wonderful waiter and waitres service , hats off to them they work really hard with a smile on their faces. Our stay at your hotel ended a most perfect day for us. Thank you

Expensive beerEverything spot on apart from the bar tariff. Â£4.15 for a 330ml (just over half pint) bottle of beer and Â£2.05 for a small lemonade was over the top.

The staff were all very helpful and courteous. The menu appeared to be rather limited, but did dine at hotel the first evening. Breakfast was excellent. I did not use the spa much , but was rather disappointed that the Steam Room was out of order for the three days of my visit.

great but for one detailI had a very enjoyable stay at Craxton Wood , nice to be able to unpack for the 3 days, excellent service both in the hotel and at the leisure facility, reception and Laura would stand out, Only detail to marr this perfect receord was the evening meal in the Restaurant - Bar meal on first night was a perfectly acceptable Chicken Ceasar Salad, however the Kedgeree was unavailable unless ordered in the Restaurant, unfortunatly dispite taking 35 mins it arrived without any fish, when I queried this the Chef said he must have 'flaked' it too much - this is haddock we are talking about !!! - service was still fantastic and no charge - I was just a tad hungery >>>>>>>>>>>>

Macdonald Craxton Wood HotelWe booked this hotel very last minute (the morning of our first night's stay) hoping for a relaxing couple of days after a stressful week. On arrival, we were greeted by extremely friendly reception staff, who checked us in, explained all the hotel facilities and guided us to our room. The room was of an excellent standard - clean and well stocked with tea/coffee facilities, towels etc... Our afternoon was spent in the relaxing spa and swimming pool area, where again all of the staff were really friendly and couldn't do enough for you. we decided to eat in the hotel on the first night and the food and service was of an excellent standard. The price was in line with what you would expect from a 4* hotel. Overall, our stay was exactly what we had hoped for - a thoroghly relaxing couple of days. I would recommend a stay in this hotel to anyone.

Friendly hotel in a rural locationWe had a lovely weekend break aided by very friendly staff who made time to talk and offer advice re local attractions and directions to them. The bedroom was large and furnished with twin beds (hotel had rung in advance to apologise for not having a double room to offer us) and comfortable armchairs you could sit in and watch tv. Bathroom was modern. Excellent breakfast menu, dinner menu not sampled. Bar prices are reasonable. Hotel situated in a quiet rural location. Chester City is a 20 minute drive away. Very good value for money.

Great location but the hotel let's it down!!The room was clean and tidy but the Hotel is in desperate need of a facelift.Using the word SPA hotel is a bit ambitious.Theres a decent pool but the sauna and steam room are somewhat dis-appointing.The reception/bar staff were very helpful and engaging but the breakfast was appauling and the staff were completely lacking in any customer care.@ £18 for a full English breakfast you expect a level of quality and service but sadly lacking!!We waited 40 minutes for our tea and toast without so much as a apology!!

the whole experienceWhat a fantastic hotel. We popped in with 5 minutes to spare before rushing off to a wedding elsewhere and did not return until midnight. On our return the reception staff already knew and acknowledged who we were and gave us the largest room we've ever had in a hotel which overlooked the vast and peaceful garden area.Breakfast was served until 10.30am and you could have whatever you wanted. It was healthy and freshly served direct to your table. 3 different staff acknowledged us and apologised to keep us waiting, but we had only just arrived in the restaurant. They gave us a table in a huge conservatory part of the restaurant. All this luxury for just £88 for the night. We checked out at the same time as Dion Dublin the ex-Celtic footballer so a popular haunt for celebrities!The only drawback was that the car park is surrounded by trees, and our car needed a good wash when we arrived home. Wonder if Dion's Bentley was the same!!

Considering we were a family of 4 the refreshments in our room were poor. Only 1 small bottle of water, 1 packet of biscuits and most hotels we have stayed in provide hot chocolate for the children.
