Description:
The Macdonald Alveston Manor Hotel and Spa, with its beautiful gardens, is just a short walk from the centre of Stratford and the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. Many public areas of the hotel are located in the Manor House, parts of which date back to the 16th century. The attraction of the Alveston Manor hotel is enhanced by its extensive Tudor panelling, leaded lights and Elizabethan staircase. It also boasts a vaulted cellar, which leads to a mysterious underground passage once used by monks from Worcester.Bedrooms are located in a modern wing, which adjoins the Manor House and offer all the modern comforts such as Air Cooling, flat screen televisions with freeview channels Should you wish to upgrade your accommodation, there is also a selection of feature rooms and suites in the old part of the Hotel many of which offer old beamed ceilings and Half Tester or Four Poster Beds. The AA Rosette award-winning Manor Restaurant pays homage to dishes with a modern French influence, and is the perfect way to end a day of sightseeing or business. Many theatre loving guests like to enjoy a starter and main course before departing for the theatre, later returning to the hotel for a dessert. Enjoy our superb leisure facilities at Vital Health and Wellbeing. In addition to an 18 metre swimming pool, there is also a well equipped Techno Gym, Sauna and Steam Room. Should you prefer to pamper yourself there is also a range of treatments available at Vital Beauty.

Beautiful HotelThis hotel is beautiful and in a perfect location for exploring Stratford just a short walk from the town. My stay was very pleasurable indeed in a comfortable well presented room. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Very nice location within walking distance of most major sites in Stratford upon Avon. Free parking was a huge plus. Staff was very friendly and quick to help. While the rooms were adequate, they were a little older than we would have preferred for the price.

Situated on the south side of the Avon, just over the Clopton Bridge which spans the river, the Alveson Manor is certainly one of the nicest hotels in the Stratford on Avon area. Surrounded by a huge lawn and garden, the hotel is a short 10 minute walk from the town center and you'll enjoy every step along the way. Our room, although a bit small, was perfectly furnished, immaculate, and was fully air conditioned. That's important for summer travelers since 90% (or more!) of the hotels in the UK are not air conditioned and there is a 6-8 week summer that regularly gets into the 70s, 80s and sometimes 90s. Plenty of free parking behind the hotel, another rarity in the UK and tough to find in the Avon area. The only downside is that the hotel is very expensive - think mid town Manhattan at the mid to high end. Speaking of which, the hotel reminded us of Tavern on the Green in Central Park, so you can imagine how nice it is. We would defintely stay there again and if my wife wife has her way, we'll be back.

An excellent experienceWe were met by a cheerful and friendly receptionist. Our room was changed from a double to a twin as was requested on our booking form. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was clean and well equipped and was excellent value for money. Will certainly book here again. Thank you for making it such a great experience.

I discovered that I had made a mistake with our booking date, booking the previous night to the night we had wanted to stay. On realising my mistake on the morning of the correct date, I rang the hotel and explained the situation. The lady on reception was so helpful and kind, and honoured our booking (for two rooms) for the next night without any fee. We were extremely grateful with this excellent service.

Alveston ManorWhen booking this room, I explained that it was my boyfriend's birthday, and could we possibly have one of their better rooms. When we arrived, the reception staff were very kind and pleasant, and the concierge asked if he could take our bags, which were only overnight bags so not necessary. The room was situated in the newer section of the hotel, and was lovely. Swags and tails bed, flat screen tv, and a birthday card and hand made chocolates to my boyfriend. We were delighted. We used the pool, steam and sauna facilities all very clean and maintained to a high standard. We did not eat at the hotel as the reviews on this site were not very positive, and chose to eat out. The room cost was £88 which I found a little expensive. However, the personal touchs such as the card and chocs more than made up for it.

I would stay againAlveston Manor was a charming place to stay and very good value for money compared to other UK Hotels I have stayed at.

Was worried when reading some previous reviews but have to say had a lovely stay. Shame breakfast was not included. Clean room, a bit dated but fell in with theme of house. Staff friendly. However it would not be worth the full price stated before the saving and was not told of how to use health spa facilities that were included. Still a lovely looking Manor House and location is great to walk to town centre and leave car at hotel.

PoorRoom was 2 star at best. No help with luggage or welcome. Good location though and parking.

Pokey single roomI paid good money for a standard double room at this hotel and was allocated a pokey single room. When I asked to be moved I was told the hotel was full and there were only single rooms or I could upgrade for another £20. I checked out early and went to another hotel. Be warned!

When we entered our room there was a smell of cigarette smoke. The staff were helpful and found us another room which happened to be larger with a nicer bed. Food was excellent both at breakfast and the evening meal. The service was polite and efficient.

Although reasonably scored for Value for Money, I did find the bar prices at this hotel to be considerably higher than my expectations, taking into account the knowledge I would be paying slightly inflated prices than if I were in a local bar for instance. The room price paid by booking through your site is the only reason I have scored 4 in this category,

Macdonald Alveston Manor - Stratford Upon AvonThe hotel itself is beautiful from the outside; however the room was quite small and the furnishings dated, it was also quite dark due to the way the room was facing.Location wise is was perfect, everything is in walking distance. There is also a concierge service who can tell you anything you need to know about the local area. There are plenty of car parking spaces and free access to the leisure facilities is also a big bonus.Overall it was a very pleasant stay.

Alveston ManorGreat location to access Stratford-upon-Avon, but the disappointments for me were;1. No free wireless / internet access.2. Tried to call the operator and front desk for 20 minutes and no one answered the phone.3. No breakfast included.Probably won't stay again.

Unhappy ExperienceHotel in need of refirbishment. Food good but very expensive. Better to eat across the road in the french bistro. On check out the hotel tried to over charge, so do as I did, take you late room booking with you.

Review of roomThe room was discounted to £88per night from £238, however it was never be worth the rate of £238. I was disappointed from the webb site view of the hotel , expected a better quality of accomodadtion, but seemed to placed in the poorer area of the hotel.

Room was above average size and loved the king sized bed. Booked this hotel because I wanted a swimming pool and I enjoyed using the pool.Hotel was easy to find, ample parking and near the town centre.

Perfect placeVery friendly and helpful staff. Tried to get a table at restaurant in the hotel, which was fully booked. Instead we were offered a booking service for an alternative restaurant. Bit of a challenge as it was already late but they managed on this very busy Friday night. Did get into the hotel restaurant for Saturday - superb! Everything else was excellent too. Would love to stay again.
