Good spa, grounds and restaurant, but awful room, bad service and dreadfully over priced!I took my wife away to celebrate our second wedding anniversary. We did kindly get a free upgrade, but to a terrible, claustrophobic room; the Ireland room. There were two small windows, completely covered by trees, so that you couldn't see out of them at all. I had ordered flowers to the room for my wife. I requested £20 of white flowers. There was a tired looking bunch of multi-coloured flowers, with a Waitrose sticker on for £9.99! We had specifically requested bathrooms for the room; not there. Then there was the toilet. I'm by no means a cleanliness freak, but the toilet was absolutely disgusting! It was stained an awful and textured brown, (I took a photo for proof.) Although we hadn't paid full price, the full price for the room should have been £185! This is definitely not a room I would expect for this price. We would have checked out, but we had already paid for the room. We phoned up reception to complain. The flowers would not be charged, the bathrobes would be sent up. Fair enough. We were told they had tried everything to get the stains off the toilet, but there was nothing they could do! This room shouldn't be used until the problem is rectified. My wife went down to reception and requested another room. We eventually got moved into another room. Although it was a lower grading, it was much better; bigger, and airier with a nice view of the grounds. We had finally got there after much effort! The problems were rectified well, but the problems should not have been there in the first place.Good points; lovely grounds, restaurant, spa and great breakfast (with great service.) If we could have afforded to stay in the Tudor building it probably would have been a great stay. I would go back for a spa day or meal there, but would not stay in the hotel again! It was a very disappointing stay for such a special day for us. I feel awful for my poor wife’s ‘surprise’ cele

Excelent to un wind after a busy dayVery easy to find and I was not disapointed. Excellent room and facilities, the check in couldn't have been easier. Friendly and informative staff. Leisure faciliites first class, a relaxing swim, then made me hungry and the food was great.Breakfast Ist class, with views of the extensive grounds. Would not hesitate to stay again.

Good value - but only on a dealWe stayed at the Lythe Hill Hotel for one night and were pleased with our superior room, but were glad we hadn't paid more than the offer price of £95. The carpets in the room were worn, the receptionist didn't know where our room was, there was no milk with the tea and coffee etc. This hotel could be great, but the little details were missing to make this extra special. Also, the only evening food options were a ~£25 set menu for dinner in the restaurant or sandwiches in the bar. We wanted something in the middle and had to get room service for this. Not the end of the world, but we'd rather have eaten our burgers at a table rather than on the sofa in our room.Overall though, I'd stay again if I was in the area. The spa area is lovely, the grounds are well looked after and the staff were very helpful.

Great restaurant - hotels not bad either. We chose the Lythe Hill as we had previously visited for a fantastic lunch. The dinner we had on this visit didn't disappoint either. Fantastic food, thanks!Room was well appointed and clean - would stay again.

Loved everything about this hotel, the staff in particular are unexpectedly gracious. did feel that the room walls needed soundproffing somewhat we heard the delights of early moring tv and toilet activity all around us from above and below. However the sight of the hotel having finished an rain sodden 11mile hike was wonderful and no-one commeneted that i was drip drying in the reception. Stuning location - amazing spa facilities and a real treat for a Londoner looking for a country break. I would have loved two nights more and the time to walk the trails in every diretion.

Hotel with adjoining Spa was a lovely setting for my friend's wedding. We took advantage of the Spa facilities from midday onwards as the wedding was not until 4pm. However it was appalling that we were not allowed to check in to our room until 3.15pm, despite having been there since 12 noon. They did upgrade our room and give us a free coffee whilst we waited.

I stayed here because my normal fare of Hol Inn Expresses and Premier Inns were all full and found this on Laterooms. Lovely surroundings, good food and great leisure centre/pool made an enjoyable single night stay. Only criticisms are that the rooms (which are all named rather than numbers - I stayed in the Disraeli room) need to be better signed - and I have to say that the rooms in the new wing which I was in are somewhat "basic" for a £165/night rack rate hotel whose website certainly suggests better. White painted walls and not particularly large - not much better than a Premier Inn room to be honest, but with a nicer duvet and better bathroom supplies - I'm sure the old rooms in the old part of the complex are lovely.

This is a nice enough hotel but if you fancy room service ... don't. Very limited menu and when you do order the food quality is very low. Cold grub, rock hard parsnips and rubbish cheese board.

Room was unique and lovely - nice to have a room with a bit of character. The bed was two singles made into a double and was not particularly comfortable if you gravitated to the center of the bed. Room had everything you'd expect (safe, hairdryer etc.) with the exception of a fridge. Major benefit was that we checked in early and were able to use the spa and sports facilities straight away and it was implied that we could use the facilities after check-out too. Our booking included evening meal and whilst water was expensive (£5 a bottle), the three-course meal was not a disappointment, although service wasn't fast. Lovely setting, pleasant hotel, great food, good facilities. If you get a deal you shouldn't be disappointed.

Overall the hotel was nice, decor a little dated. We upgraded for £40 for a nicer room, with a great big bathroom. This was nice. The meal at the resturant was ok, a bit to rich tasting for my liking, and the prices of the wine was through the roof, no cheaper options, so we stuck to water. Which was added to the bill at a staggering £5 per bottle of water. We had no idea it was going to be that much. I did complain at check out but nothing was done. BEWARE OF THE WATER CHARGES. For that I would not go again.
