Dining:
The tastefully modern Windermere Restaurant serves a selection of classic European dishes surrounded by the contrast of vibrant artwork of Viennese painter Gustav Klimt and traditional English oak wall panelling, sumptuous leather chairs and fine crystal ware and crockery. More relaxed dining is available in the newly renovated, chic and elegant Langdale Lounge Bar which serves light bites and bar food throughout the day. Both enjoy beautiful views over the lake. The Cafe del Lago Brasserie is open April - Sept and provides a stunning alfresco summertime dining experience.

ive stayed at the low wood before for a conference and found it to be an excellent hotel with fabulous views. The food and accomodation on recent stay were unchanged and of a excellent standard. id recommend this hotel to anyone. Ill return again in the future too.

The hotel is easy to find and has a wonderful view over the lake. It's just a short drive or taxi ride into Ambleside, Windermere or Bowness if you fancy a night out. The leisure facillaties are great and the outdoor hot tub is a bonus! I would definitely stay there again.

A very enjoyable beakWe had a very enjoyable time in Windermere and the surrounding area. The accommodation contributed significantly to that. The location of the hotel on the lakeside is magnificent Plenty of parking spaces for visitors. The leisure facilities were very good. We had dinner at the hotel on one evening - this was excellent , albeit a little expensive. All the same we enjoyed it!

I have stayed at the Low Wood Hotel several times. l love everything about it. Lovely rooms, great food, nice people. The only downside is the late check-in at 3pm - especially when the weather is bad.

A rather disappointing hotel. The room was on the groundfloor, very noisy and virtually on the main road which passes right in front of the hotel - a fact not apparent when booking. People at the front of the hotel at approximately 2.00 a.m. - 3.00 a.m. in the morning shouting and laughing and presumably waiting for a taxi to collect them and no action was taken by the night porter to ask them to be a little quieter. A very strange arrangement in the dining room to sign for every drink as it was ordered, including water, and being told this was a legal requirement.! Normally one might be asked to sign at the end of dinner to confirm what had been ordered. Something we had never experienced before and would suggest they do not trust their guests, but cover it with this explanation.

The hotel is located on the main road within walking distance into Ambleside. We had a room with a lake view which was on the small side, but it had a nice new bathroom. The view was lovely but the road is very busy and very noisy if you have the window open. We ate in the restaurant which we thought was over priced for the quality of food we had, the slow roasted vegetables were almost raw and the chicken was bland. The leisure facilities are very good. We got a good deal through Laterooms and would stay there again if we got the same rate. We stayed at The Famous Wild Boar Inn a couple of weeks ago, which is part of the group, which we would really recommend as the food there was excellent.

For the price we paid I thought the room as rather small and the view onto the rear service yard was hardly inspiring, especially as I asked for a lake view on the booking form! apart from that I think the leisure facilities, food and customer service were all excellent.

The hotel was so easy to find and had a great view over the Lake. The weather was not good, however we found we had plenty to do such as a freshing swim in the pool followed by a relaxing soak in the outdoor hot tub. The food choice was good including the Bistro which had a more casual atmosphere.

Staff couldn't have been better. We loved our room and enjoyed making use of the leisure facilities. Although this hotel is on a busy road it didn't cause us any problems

There are good and bad things for Low Wood. Good thing : The hotel location is very nice, staff is very friendly and helpful. The bed is very comfortable. Bad thing : Overpriced. For £171, I would have stayed in a top five star hotel in London with a much better room and facilities. For example :Wireless internet does not work at night, because no one would give you a code for access during off office hour. Called reception at 1am and no one pick up the phone. Ended up going down myself. Towels are on the bed, because there is no towel rack in the bathroom. My friend's room has not even got towel.Single glazed windows which means you will hear car passing by in your room. No mini-bar in the room.Hot counter for the breakfast is really bad, the egg and saucesage is so hard !

Nice family-friendly hotel - Only downside is the restaurants, there's only one main restaurant and another bistro type restaurant which were both fully booked the first night we were there. We ended up having to drive to Ambleside as there is nothing closer and finally got take-away fish and chips as the restaurants there too were fully booked to accomodate our group of 8.Our rooms were the classic rooms and in the refurbished part of the hotel. I did see some unfurbished rooms on my walks and these looked tired - I am glad I insisted when booking to be allocated refurbished rooms. The other issue is that the hotel is based on the lake but there is an A road which seperates the hotel from the lake with no marked crossings. Therfore trying to corss this with a pram was not something I wanted to do often. We did try to leave our car and go ambling around the hotel but there were no clear paths alongside the road and we deemed it too dangerous to continue.

we arrived early and our room was ready, we brought the dog without checking first and they welcomed him, we dined in the restaurant and it was good, we left pre-dawn on departure and it was all so easy. We'll be back!

Waiter spilled soup all over one guest and were only offered a towel to dry themselves - apart from that it was good.

the hotel was great, food was excellent, the leisure facillaties are marvellous.my only complaint was the noise of a generator or pump which seemed to go all night and it did disturb my sleep.it rained all weekend!

we were in room 271 which would have got a '6' but the window didnt shut properly, there was quite a strong draft as the weather was very poor whilst we were there but apart from that the room was very good.

i had to ask for the room to be cleaned again , bed not made, sweet papers in the bin and on the floor . also after getting out the shower the floor was very slippy , causing me to fall and hurt myself . only pleased it was me and not my partner or a o.a.p

When we arrived we were told that we were not able to eat in any of the restaurants as there were no tables available! (we arrived at 5pm). Eventually after threatening to check out and find another hotel, we were told that we could eat in the \"Bistro\" as long as we took an early time! We waited 45 mins for the starters (they were prawn cocktail and pate with toast). After 45 mins we told the waitress to forget them and bring the main courses. The pizza was mediocre and the spagetti tagliatelle was awful. The ham had not been mixed through the spagetti and the creamy sauce looked watery like milk. I would NEVER reccommend this hotel. And am frankly very surprised that it has 4 stars! I have written to the manager to complain but as yet have not had any reply despite the letter going two weeks ago. I am due to post ANOTHER letter tomorrow if i have no response.

First impressions of the hotel were good the reception and continuing bar and restauraunt are very impressive and up to 4* standard - the staff are also very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately once we were shown to our room things changed - the quality of the rooms were poor (we asked to be moved from our first room due to the noise from the road outside) with fraying carpets wallpaper coming off the walls and just all round poor quality for this star of hotel. I am very suprised this has a 4* rating in my eyes it may just manage 3*. Okay there is a pool and gym but to be honest your room is the most important aspect to a stay. The breakfast was okay but buffet style and the sausages were cold and a bit hard also. All round i would definitely never stay here again!

The hotel was easy to get to as it is right on the main road. There was adequate parking and reception was excellent. The rooms were satisfactory, clean and with plentiful tea & coffee making facilities. The restaurant was good with a set menu and good wine list. Some areas of the hotel are in need of or undergoing refurbishment but this did not affect the enjoyment of our stay with friendly and helpful staff and good service. The breakfasts were excellent!
