We stayed at the Elgin the first weekend in March. We had an executive room which is definitely worth the extra money the rooms are the larger corner rooms and ours looked over the park. It was a very bright room with windows on two sides. The windows opened so it was nice to get some fresh air in the room. Internet was included in the price and is very fast. Breakfast is also included and was very nice with both hot and cold options. The room was always kept very clean and they have turn down service as well. We never had a problem getting our car as parking is valet, we called down before we left our room and it was there by the time we got down to the lobby. We only had to wait once and they told us that when we called down. Rooms has very comfortable beds, iron and ironing board, umbrella, a fridge and coffee maker. There is also a Starbucks in the lobby and they will deliver your morning coffee if you order it the night before. The Elgin is close to everything and you can walk to most places so you don't really need your car much while you are there unless you are leaving the downtown core. We will definitely stay here again.

The hotel itself is located right on Elgin Street. The outside was clean and very well kept with exception of the snow of course. The first and most major annoyance served was the parking. The area in front of the hotel became cluttered with cars and it was very difficult for the valet to take it out to the parking garage. It took about ten minutes to get the car each time, and if not for the manager who was exceedingly competent, it would have been atrocious. Checking in was very simple and staff was very courteous. There are four elevators to take individuals to their rooms which ran very smoothly and might have even been overkill. The door locks were relatively new and featured swipe cards to enter. The rooms were equipped with a refrigerator and a microwave and both were relatively new. Both were Energy Star compliant and very quiet. Each bed had three pillows and were very comfortable. The bathrooms were clean, the showers maintained their temperature and pressure constantly, and there were more than enough towels. There is an Ethernet cord in the corner to plug into in the corner which you can use to connect to the Internet for ten dollars a day. The air conditioning and heating ran very quietly. For environmentalists, at least 98 percent of the lights were compact fluorescents. The only other major annoyance came with the television. The set itself was a rather inundated round Philips C.R.T. set. It had inputs on the front of it, but the firmware on the set had the inputs locked, making the D.V.D. player which was taken along completely useless.Positives-Exceptionally clean-Comfortable beds-Fast Internet-Many energy conservation efforts-Exceptional plumbing-Quiet air conditioning and heatingNegatives-Poor parking-Lackluster television

The staff was very nice and the hotel room was impeccably clean. I did not use their valet parking because there's municipal parking at the City Hall across the intersection for only 4$ on week-end days. The pool was not the cleanest, but it is big enough to get some relatively good exercise. The buffet breakfast was excellent. The location is ideal, across from the park and within walking distance from the canal, Ottawa River and most of major attractions. I would definitely stay there again!

Check-in was fast and easy. Location was right in the heart of Ottawa close to everything! The rooms were clean, beds were extremely comfortable. The staff was freindly and worked hard to make us happy and welcome. The spa and pool were wonderful. The restaurant was classy and affordable. The checkout was 12pm however, when they found out I was leaving on a 7pm flight with a child, they allowed us to stay an extra 2 hours! While the price of this hotel was higher then some of the surrounding locations, it was worth every penny and then some. I will stay there again in a heartbeat! You can not go wrong at this location.

It's the staff here that really make this an outstanding hotel. The executive rooms are a little on the small side but they are quite comfortable. Free internet is provided in room along with complementary slippers for you to keep. Washrooms are on the small side but they are bright and airy. The view of confederation park is not as spectacular as from the Westin but windows that open are well appreciated. Free continental breakfast is served in the well appointed executive lounge for persons staying in executive rooms. I found the staff to be friendly and professional.

We have tried several different hotels in Ottawa and, at last, we have found our home away from home. The Lord Elgin fulfilled all our requirements in a very satisfactory way. Everyone was helpful and very courteous. Our reservation officer, whom I think was Mandy, went above and beyond by locating the number of the bus which would carry us from the Via Rail station to the Elgin Hotel and telephoning me back with this information. Incredible! Although this stay was short you can believe that we will be back whenever there is a similar package on offer to attend cultural events.

The service was excellent. Everyone was very helpful and gracious. The room was clean and a good size. Breakfast was very good. We ordered off the menu, but the buffet looked nice also. The location is wonderful. We parked the car and walked everywhere. Big Daddy's on the 300 block of Elgin St. has fantastic bbq ribs and fried shrimp!! Best meal in a long time!!

"We stayed at the Lord Elgin to visit family before Christmas and it was our first stay. What can I say, the service, location, fitness facilities, rooms, the Starbuck's Coffee, not to mention the fabulous amenities. I can't think of a better place to stay to take in all of Ottawa"

Location and service were really good. Staff very helpful. Very good service, room very clean and modern. Nice view out onto park. Very convenient to restaurants on Elgin St. and Sparks St. Close to Rideau center shopping mall and close to parliament buildings and downtown offices. Nice restaurant, Star bucks coffee shop and good bar setup and sitting area in reception.
