From arrival to departure, our experience was nothing less than perfect. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room was big and beautiful with a gorgeous view of the beach just a few feet away. The food was delicious at the resort and the service was excellent. We were even surprised with a bottle of wine to celebrate our asnniversary! They don't miss a thing. We enjoyed snorkeling, shopping and exploring this lovely island for the entire week that we were there and just hated to leave. We know exactly where we will be going on our next vacation as we were not disappointed with this experience. Don't change a thing.

Nice pool area, beautiful beach. Beds seemed old, was a bit of a walk to the beach. The hotel was nice but a bit outdated. Charge an additional service charge of $35 and couldn't say what it was for.

set in a great location with lovely beaches and nice grounds, the hotel has obviously hit tough times. The room had wonderful views and was generally nice, but the toilet broke and the shower was dodgy Of the three advertised restaurants only one was open and it was A DISGRACE, terrible food, massively overpriced and lazy service at best. This could be a lovely spot but needs some TLC, if you avoid eating here you could have a great time.

I stayed for a weekend and have no complaints . I had a beach front cabana and the view is spectacular, the beach was not rough at all and you can find a few crystal clear spots without rocks that you can enjoy. The room was always clean and everything I requested from housekeeping was given to me. As far as ammenities, I did not use restaurant services etc. as I wanted to try different places while in Tortola. Good place to stay for a quiet and relaxing weekend.

The staff was excellent- especially Carlotta, Kevin, Sheryl, Patrica & Gusti. The rum punch welcome started our vacation off right. The beach-front room is a must. The sounds of the ocean made it very relaxing and you can't beat the view. The swim-up pool was fantastic! You could get drinks and food without getting out of the water. We recommend dinning at least once Banana Keet to watch the sunset and snorkeling at Smuggler's Cove.

Rooms were great, grounds were beautiful, staff was extraordinary. Nothing. Great place to relax and enjoy life.

I went to this resort with my girlfriend and really enjoyed the resort. It has a great pool and a very pretty beach right in front of it. It has a good location and was close to the West End Ferry as well as Caine Garden Bay and you could see Jost Van Dyke from our room. I would go back here again! There is also 2 rental car agencies there and a dive shop. Good choice in my book!

In short - We had a "beachfront" room, which was absolutely appalling for the price. Yes the beach is very big and nice, but the water there was very rough (this hotel's on the island's Atlantic side) and the shoreline rocky as can be. Completely unsafe for children to swim in personal opinion. My husband received cuts all over his legs from body boarding there. Back to the room, it was not well maintained at all...You could tell the furniture was cheap, and quite old and out of style. Housekeeping seemed terribly overworked and unhappy and their work cleaning the room reflected this (not clean, no towels replaced). Service at their "1748" restaurant was slow, we expected this having been to the BVI many times. The food wasn't even close to good and was more pricy than the rest of the restaurants on the island (75 for 2 people for sunday brunch, WAY out of line!). I would not recommend this place to anyone to actually stay at...At best this is a nice beach to lounge at for a day, but stay elsewhere unless you like poor quality at high prices.

My late arrival(9.30pm)was marred by the news that the hotel restaurant had closed, the kitchen could/would not provide even a sandwich. The outside bar was about to close but also could not provide any food although I was given some peanuts. The barman was very helpful indeed: he closed the bar, then drove me two miles to a take-away and then drove me back. My room was below average insofar as its location was at the far end of the large resort involving a five-minute walk to the hotel's lobby and facilities. The walk was hazardous with building material, timbers with nails etc. lining the edge of pathways. My request for a room change was gladly granted and I moved much closer to the pool and other amenities. The hotel bar and restaurant were not open all week I was there. The outside bar and restaurant - another long walk - was less than pleasing with slow service inconsistent opening hours and midlle grade food. This hotel has great potential but during my viisit seemed very tired and I think I was caught out by the off-season state and atmosphere.

I have read several reviews of other vacationers and I'm not sure what people expect while in the Caribbean. The staff was very friendly. If you extend a warm friendly greeting to the staff before conducting your business, the staff is very friendly and will go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. The food was not the best, therefore, I would not recommend the all inclusive. Rent a car and get out and experience the island while on vacation. We only ate 3 meals while at the resort. We tried the breakfast buffet which was terrible...it was the worse meal of our entire trip. We had burgers/hot dogs by the pool bar and they were just that...burgers/hot dogs. We did have dinner one night and the food was excellent. As for the bartenders...they were great. If you sit and chat with them they are very polite and will treat you right. We stayed in a beach front cabana and the rooms were small. However, for 2 people, the rooms were sufficient. Our room was always clean and the staff did a wonderful job each day. We don't go to the Caribbean to stay in the room all day. We go to the Caribbean to experience the beautiful islands and the wonderful food and culture. Again, rent a car and get out and experience the people and the different restaurants that Tortala has to offer. If pampering is what you expect, please choose another hotel. If a beautiful beach with sufficient accomodations for a good price is what you seek...by all means stay here. We will be back for another stay.

The Long Bay Beach Resort is a quiet small beach resort. Beach is almost excellent. Other than snorkeling, there is not much of watersport activities like sailing, kayaking,...problem for younger guests. The reception staff is overall helpful and friendly. Restaurant 1748 has very good food selection with reasonable price. The little bar at the pool has excellent sandwiches. Rooms are spacious with AC and fan, balcony and a fridge, but no cooker/microwave. There is a small store in the resort you can buy some snaks, drinks and souveniers. The only drawback is substandard transportation; roads and airport. Taxi fare from airport to the resort is $45, Road Town to resort $25-$30, all one way. Would be better if the resort would have their own shuttle service.

I am here on business and I need internet access and phone access. They only have WiFi that only works in the lobby. The charge is 10/hr 20/day. Way, Way out of line. Also, I had to use the phone and found a 5 minute call was 22.95. Way, Way, Way, Way out of line. When I came I was told the only room available was */night with 17% tax, making it almost */night. I am here with a co-worker and our company has been using this hotel for almost 4 weeks as we conduct business here. We have given them a good amount of business. My company will not be using this hotel in the future. Also, I would not recommend this facility unless you really like throwing money away. I have been in the Caribbean on this project for 4 weeks now. I have had some great hotels that were a bit expensive, but worth it. This one is not, no way. Avoid this place if you can.

The Long Bay Beach is my first choice from now on when I'm vacationing in the BVI. Room service was great and timely. The worker were nice and friendly, a big plus in my book. My room had a very nice balcony, overlooking the pool. It was nice and quit too.

This hotel is extremely beat up. The rooms are furnished with gargage sale caliber furnishings and the bed led my husband and I to wake up each morning with 15 new bug bites and zero sleep. The appearance of the hotel fits the attitudes of the employees. There are no smiling faces here to welcome you and improve your vacation. Unlike the rest of the carribean, the day you leave Long Bay Resort will be a happy day. You will find your self smiling at thinking of returning home. Not expected from a carribean vacation!!!

We loved Tortola and the hotel although there were some issues with towels. We only got one towel a person each day. The shower was an open one without any curtains or door so the floor would get wet and we'd need to use extra towels to mop up the water. We had problems daily getting beach towels. Everytime we went for towels, they'd be out of them. We'd either have to go back at a later time or re-use the prior day's towels. Other guests had the same issue. Some of the waite staff in the main restaurant were unfriendly but the waite staff at the breakfast restaurant the 1748 were very friendly and nice. Those are the only two issues we had...so enough of the negative. Otherwise our stay was wonderful. We were greeted with a Rum Punch upon our arrival so this put us immediately in a good mood. Our room overlooked the beautiful Carribean waters. It was clean and nicely decorated although not over the top. To my surprise, it had a small kitchen with full cooking facilities and although we did not make any meals there, this was an added and unexpected bonus. The beaches are beautiful with perfect sand and no crowds. There's a cove about a mile away with calmer waters and we walked there and did some snorkeling. I would recommend wearing good shoes for the walk as the road is unpaved and uneven in some spots. People did stop to give us rides part of the way there and back which was a blessing. We did not rent a car and took taxis back and forth to Road Town. The fares weren't unreasonable and it beat driving the hilly roads and on the opposite side to boot. We loved this location and the hotel and would definetely go back. The towel problem was only a minor issue and would not keep us away.

long bay is about the best you can get for a hotel on tortola. with a sweeping view of the ocean and a nearby island, it's mile long beach lined with palms is a sight to behold. the rooms have lots of space and great views, but could use an upgrade in linens and such. the fitness facilities need an upgrade as well. the pool is nice and the restaurant on the water is a casual spot before heading to the beach. having stayed lots of places on this island, it is as good as it gets for hotels- not as luxurious as one might like, but lots of positives to make it a worthwhile stay.

The location of this resort is great, just wish that the place had more affordable prices in comparison to what you are getting in return. Meals averaged $20 each or more, and you'd have to take an $18 taxi ride one way just to have another choice. I'd recommend renting a car if you are staying here. Rooms have some maintenance issues and you should fully check your room after arriving to make sure everything is up to expectations. I had addressed my room issues right away (broken latch to open/close bathroom window, septic smell coming from shower) and was moved to a better room which also had an issue with the safe, which had to be fixed. The beach is very secluded, and is a great sight to the eye. Resort needs some better lighting at night for paths that lead to its higher on-the-hill villas. It's hard to see where you are walkingin some places. (Not good when you are travelling in the winter and it gets dark at 6 PM) There are many great advantages to being in this location. (BVI) You will see and experience many qualities on this island that can't be found anywhere else. It's a good resort for a quiet, remote vacation where you just want to relax and also have the choice to do activities if you so wish. I give credit to this resort for having a decent gym for those who wish to keep physically active on vacation.

"We had the beachfront (expensive) room ,I had requested 2 Queen beds. When we arrived in the room, it was a king bed. I called immediately and she said she would check for me. I had to call her back and she said none were available but she could move us the next day and would call in the morning. Didn't happen. The room was shabby and not well-maintained. Ants all over and shabby furnishings. The pool bartender and cook was rude and inattentive to the point of surliness to everyone. For the price, not worth it!"

Everything went smoothly from check in to check out. We had a large room with a separate dressing room that had 2 luggage racks, and a very spacious bathroom with a long counter containing 2 sinks. There was also a kitchenette area and a deep balcony which was large enough to have a cocktail party for 8 while enjoying the beach view and sounds. Our room overlooked the beach and was very pleasant. The kingsize bed was firm and there was a vase of orchids to enjoy in the room. The rooms overlooking the beach are the best. We had friends who had a room farther away from the main hotel and it was a bit of a hike up the hill to their room and the paths were not very well light.

"Built on a great beach but with little else to recommend it. The rooms are second rate at best - noisy air conditioning, terrible showers. Our sliding door to the deck didn't lock, and the lock was so rusty it clearly hadn't worked in years. Service was poor - the pool is small and not much for kids. We wouldn't go back - you should look for alternatives."
