I had two fabulous spa encounters. They were both so wonderful, I felt utterly pampered. We also played nine holes of golf. The golf courses are beautiful and very straight. Although we only saw the beverage cart one time and it was hot. The pool was fun. There is a bar and grill at the pool so drinking a beer while in the pool was great.

Amazing views, rooms andresort. Everything was next to perfect. Amazing location and views from the mountains in North Tucson. Resort staff is very knowledgeable and if one person isn't, they find someone who is. Amazing food, drink and restaurant, live entertainment, poolside service and great pool. Also, waterfall and walk/hike trails on location. Scenery is amazing.

OK so we left the kids elsewhere and spent 2 nights on our own. Had a wonderful time. 4th floor room view over the "City", not as scenic as other views in hotel but did not do a lot of time on the private balcony. Staff was great. Arrive at the pool before 10 for a spot.

I stayed at this hotel for a business meeting and was very impressed. My company does several meetings each year which I attend. They host these meetings at resorts or upscale city locations. Of all the events I have attened, the Loews Ventana location was one of the best. The resort is very comfortable and well kept. The sleeping rooms are well appointed (great beds!) and nice bathrooms with flatscreen tv's. I stayed over for 2 days after my conference and there is plenty to do. They have amazing golf on site, great spa and a choice of dining options of which I higly recommend the Flying V. The resort staff is very friendly and well trainined without being intrusive - kudos for Loews for a great training program for their employees. I have stayed at a few of the top resorts in Tucson and they do not even come close to what you experience when you are at the Loews. This is the ONLY hotel I stay at when I am in Tucson.

There were fees and charges everywhere I looked. I arrived in my room thirsty from my trip and was welcomed by two big bottles of water.....for $12! Most hotels aspiring to this class welcome you to your room, they immediately started trying to weasel extra fees out of me. They advertise high-speed internet, but it's not wireless and they want $12 a day or some similar rate. My cell phone wouldn't work on the property, and there was a $1 surcharge for each phone call, even local calls. Every time I turned around it seemed they wanted another fee. This is supposed to be a high end property. This mercantile approach wasn't gracious or welcoming. It was a lovely site, but won't return until the corporate management stops seeing guests as walking ATMs.

Amazing location, rooms, amenities. Amazing location in the Tucson Las Palomas area/mountains. Amazing shrimp from their 5 diamond restaurant, great pool, one of the best experiences and best resorts that I've been to of its kind. Observatory and waterfall, private walking/hiking trails on the resort, everyone at the hotel was extremely helpful and personable.

My husband and I stayed here in Tucson during Thanksgiving week. I was very disappointed in the property. The room was very dated and worn. There were holes in the pillowcases, and the room was a hodgepodge of mismatched furniture. Restaurants had few menu selections and high prices. (the $14 hamburger was average) No discounts on greens fees for guests, either, they were outrageous at $120 for 9 holes- twilight rate. We ended up both eating and golfing elsewhere.

Very beautiful setting, quiet and secluded. The room has a mini bar instead of a fridge and microwave. This is a gorgeous facility. I would give it 5 Star Luxury rating, but they have a mini bar in the rooms which only serves the financial advantages of the owners. I, like most travelers, would much rather have a microwave and a fridge. I paid $10 a day for internet and $10 a day for using the exercise facility. I believe all of the features should be included in a resort or luxury hotel.

I have stayed at this hotel several times over the years and other than the pricey food, almost always had a positive experience. But the last stay in November was lousy. Poor service (no roll away bed as promised, no newspapers - although the front desk specifically asked which ones we wanted at our door) pricey room service (a $100 food credit was quickly absorbed by the $80 bill for two kids' pastas, two desserts and two appetizers, not to mention the 21% gratituity charge). Costly amenities ($11 a day for Internet service, $10 to use the on-site workout facilities. HELLO?). I used my cellphone, so I was able to avoid the $1 a call charges on the hotel phone. After one night, I requested a larger room, thinking that with two teen girls, we could use the extra space. But they refused unless we ponied up $100 a night extra. Kind of surprising, given that the hotel was at less than 50% capacity. You'd think they would want to please customers and entice them to return.

Very romantic atmosphere. The pool was a little plain for such a loverly resort.

The resort is tucked away in a canyon (duh) in the shadow of one of the many desert mountains in Tucson. The setting is idyllic, staff is courteous, and the scenery/ landscaping is beathtaking. Check in was seamless, but our 'non-smoking' room stank like an ashtray. The staff apologized and quickly gave us other accomodations. Everything seemed perfect...until we started looking at the fine print for some ammenities that you would expect from a upper ranked resort. Refrigerators are not standard in the rooms, which I consider a must in a desert clime. The front desk told us there was a waiting list to get one placed in the room from housekeeping. No microwave either. Internet access was available, but at the highway robbery price of $ a day! And get this, there is a 'usage charge' for using the Fitness Center of $ a day. Give me a break! Even the cheapest of hotels allows its guests free use of an area to sweat. The only other concern I have (being a security professional) is the relative ease anyone up to no good, can easily access the rooms on the wings without having a key from the parking lots. I guess the crime rate in Tucson is low enough where folks in Ventana Canyon don't have to be concerned about such things, but the lack of a security gate and cameras, at a minimum, would make me nervous about having my wife and children stay here alone all the same.

This was an excellent hotel for a getaway! Beautiful rooms and beautiful scenery. Great restaurants to choose from. We ate at all but one and had great food each time. Friendly staff and good service. We enjoyed the pool and walking trails. We liked their stargazing by the pool on Wednesday and Saturday nights. The concierge was also very helpful. My only criticism would be the charge for the use of the fitness facilities. I would definitely stay there again!

Beautiful view of city lights. The room was amazing, the view was breathtaking of the city and the mountains. The bathroom had a huge 2 person tub. The hotel grounds had trails with all the desert landscaping leading you to the waterfall in the back of the resort. The lounge/bar area was great, the food was excellent and the live Jazz singer and piano player were great. The staff was very helpful and pleasant, even when I got sick on my trip, security opened the store at night and delivered some much needed medicine to our room.

Overall, my husband and I LOVED the Ventana. We upgraded to the deluxe room, but were a little disappointed in the first room we are given since it had a cruddy view of the poolside bar and was very loud. (Unfortunately, this isn't the first time this has happened when when we have booked through the travel website or other online services). However, when I asked to change rooms, they moved us immediately without any argument and the second room was fantastic. Our room had a balcony with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. The lounge area downstairs is very comfortable any time of day (not just cocktail time) and the poolside area is equally comfortable, even if you don't plan to swim. There are also a couple of nice, easy trails on the property with lots of information about local flora, fauna and wildlife. We did not eat at the Coyote Cafe because the menu looked like pretty pedestrian hotel fare. Rather, we had breakfast in the Villa Barista coffee bar. For lunch, the poolside restaurant (Bill's something or other) is quite tasty and fairly reasonable by resort standards. We did not dine at the Ventana Room, but did have dinner one night at the Flying V. The food was quite good, but on a Saturday night we felt very rushed when our food came out in pretty rapid succession. Reservations are STRONGLY recommended. The spa was fantastic. Both my husband and I had massages and facials and it was a great experience. We also made a trip to the Sedona Desert Museum, which I highly recommend. Overall, the Ventana was a wonderful, very relaxing weekend

We travel as a family with 2 teenagers and a college student so it's almost impossible to please all of us . . . Ventana Canyon did it. This place is sensational. It's America's first "green" hotel so you can indulge yourself and be guilt free. The location is amazing. We went hiking and tried horseback riding at nearby Sabino Canyon. You can even charge your riding bill to your room. The most common remark we heard while visiting was how wonderful the service is and we agree. Our favorite feature of the hotel was the incredible food. The Ventana Room is one of the country's few 5 diamond dining rooms and a very special experience. Is the Ventana Room expensive? Yes. Worth it? Yes again. Our family favorite was the more casual Flying V. Amazing food by an up and coming southwest cuisine star, Chef Alexis Martinez. Try the tableside guacamole; I think it's on the menu in heaven. Overall the hotel is a great value and wonderful experience. We found the hotel to be a great value for a luxury resort and a wonderful experience. It's one of the few hotels we've ever found where it seems the entire staff just "gets it right". Whatever you do, don't forget the camera! The surrounding scenery is unbelievable. This hotel is a hidden jewel to most of us on the East Coast. It should be on any list of Florida alternatives. Considering the level of service, quality of food, range of activities, beauty of the surroundings and value . . . we're stunned that there aren't crowds lined up in the parking lot waiting for rooms to become available! Check out the sunset music of Tucson singer Katy Martin in the lobby lounge and look for special daily events.
