Did the time share thing and absolutely loved our stay here. Our 5 year old was with us and he loved the room as well. The fireplace was killa, location perfect, and valet was great. We requested a room with the street view so late at night we would sit by the fireplace and watch folks moving along. Staff tried the pitch thing again but I wouldn't hear of it. I would recommend this place.

The hotel has very friendly staff and is in a great location. Our room was on the front of the hotel. At night it could be noisy. The Lodge Alley Inn was a great place. We were in a studio in which 2 adults and 2 teenagers stayed comfortably. The bed is high off the floor however it was comfortable. The sofa in the den area was a sofa bed and was also comfortable. The fireplace was great and very easy to use - just flip the switch on the wall! The location is great and we took advance of the valet parking. The only down side was the noise from the street coming in at night. However, by the second night I did not notice this as much.

the overall experience was tremondous, location is right in the heart of activity, walking and leave your car at the hotel. This is a time share inn and we bought into it we can travel anywhere but we prefer this location for now, it is very clean, and very classic for this part of the country. we did the sale pitch and received 100 giftr certificate which paid for an outstanding 2 meals, no complaints from this part of the country

Location was excellent. Blinds on windows did not work properly and needed cleaning. Excellent location. Room was very pretty and had a fireplace that added to its charm. We would stay at this location again.

MY husband and I stayed in December and it could not have been better. Rooms, Location, Friendly staff and service - absolutely awesome! We paid no attention to the atttempted sales pitch and didn't feel pressured inside the hotel to accomodate the attempts. Now they have high pressure people on the street but we blew them off too! The point is everything to do with the hotel stay was crazy awesome!!

The room was very nice. Service was horrible. Late to wedding because valet could not get the car pulled around in 30 minutes. The Lodge Alley Inn is a beautiful hotel located right near Market St. in downtown Charleston. Those are the only good things about the hotel. The toilet in our room did not flush, we called and had someone look at it and they did not fix it. The hotel asked for 10-15 minutes to have the valet pull the car around. We gave those 30 minutes before we need to leave to be at wedding rehearsal and the wedding. They did not get it pulled around in time. My wife and I were standing in 90 degree heat in my Tuxedo and her Bridesmaid dress. To top it off the bride had a care package dropped off at the front desk with the weekend agenda and they forgot to give it to us. We would not have gotten it. Another bridesmaid told us to be looking for it. Horrible service.

The location is outstanding but the staff appeared sloppy and appathetic and the room was in need of maintence. Better hotels are available for the same money without the timeshare sales pitch.

Great location! Did not offer free parking as noted. Toilet had to be flushed several times per use. Water did not drain in shower and backed up in tub. Things I Liked - Fantastic location, Large room, Period decor, Refrigerator and microwave in room, Fireplace. Things I Disliked - Even though free parking was listed as an amenity the parking fee was $12.00 a night, To get to the ice machine you have to go downstairs, through the lobby, out the entrance, down the walkway and across the courtyard (very inconvenient). Toilet needed to be flushed numerous times after use. Slow drain in bathtub caused water to backup and partially fill tub when showering. Bed was not made when housekeeping was in the room in the morning but they showed up that evening offering turndown service.

This is a time share vacation hotel. Don't stay unless you are interested in spending 2+ hours in a sales meeting and buying a vacation package. If you use valet parking, make sure you call for your car at least 45 minutes before you need your vehicle.

Excellent location and ample room (two levels). Not much in the way of amenities. This is in an excellent location for getting about Charleston. It is within walking distance of many attractions and fine restaurants and is easy to get a bus, trolley or cab from the area. It is comfortable, the rooms are ample and the staff is friendly.

We were very pleased with the Lodge Alley Inn. Check-in wasn't great - but it happened eventually. There were small problems with the suite - like no remote for the livingroom TV, but overall the accomodation was very comfortable.

The amenities were great! The maid service could have been better. Great rooms at an amazing locations. The staff is extremely helpful from showing you around the area and recommending great restaurants to hailing a cab for you .The service was beyond southern hospitality!

Location - fireplace - great suite. Time to get cars from valet. From check-in to check-out, our stay was perfect. The valets were always friendly and helpful. The room was awesome, complete with fireplace. We plan to stay there on our future trips to Charleston!

The staff was always on top of things. The room was freshly painted and the smell gave me a headache. The room was a very nice setup. We had a great time. I would stay here again.

Excellent location, very friendly staff, complimentary cookies and sherry every afternoon. Bedding and pillows should be replaced. Could move up a star rating if this was done. I completely enjoyed my stay at the Lodge Alley Inn. The location is excellent for walking in the historic district. The concierge was helpful with restaurant reservations and tour booking. We were pleasantly surprised that our room was a suite. Unfortunately, the bedding and pillows were not as comfortable as the rest of the suite. Upgrading these amenities could move this lovely property up a star rating. It is a timeshare hotel but we chose not to attend a presentation and were not pressured to. The restaurant had a wide range of selections not just low country cuisine, nice wine list and great desserts.

The staff and location. Vacation time share sales. Being a vacation club hotel we felt the purpose was not for the vacation traveler but for the purpose of receiving a sales pitch to sell their vacation club. Most of the people were staying free and had to attend a sales presentation for the purpose of purchasing a vacation time share. I would not stay there a second time despite the good location and staff.

Location. Several things broken in room, light and noise in room at night from exterior. Our room had uncomfortable beds, neon light streaming thru the third floor window, a fireplace that did not work, turn down service on only the last night of a three night stay, and a television that was very poor quality. My husband broke his arm just before leaving on this trip and was unable to move luggage around. I had to load our luggage into the car as we left, while two hotel employees watched. I am 57 years old. I was not impressed with the staff!

We asked for a room facing the courtyard and they were kind enough to honor our request. Staff was not rude, per se, but not exactly friendly and warm. Apart from minor attitude issues by the staff, the hotel was very comfortable, clean, convenient to all tourist attractions, museums, restaurants, etc. I would definitely stay there again, and request a room facing the courtyard. I don't even want to know what is on the other side.

The location was great; we were able to walk to tourists attractions, restaurants, and shops. The staff and concierge were friendly and helpful. There was additional cost for maid services that I consider to be basic , such as making the beds. Continental breakfast would have been nice. The hotel definitely has a historic feel and the location is perfect for tourists. Our room was large and comfortable and the staff was friendly and helpful. The concierge went out of her way to share information. I would consider staying at Lodge Alley again.

Location could not be better. Bed was uncomfortable, bad plumbing, bad housekeeping. Studio room is decently large and well-decorated. Unfortunately, they do try to sell you on the time share idea, but the sales pitch is avoidable if you stay away from the "welcome concierge". Plumbing was not good at all, the bed was hard with very thin pillows and bedding that needed to be updated. The housekeeping only changes towels daily, which is disappointing. The location is so good though, that it makes up for some of the other shortcomings. Had I not got a deal through naming my own price, I would have been very disappointed in the hotel. I will look at other hotels for the next time I am in Charleston.
