This is my favorite hotel in Richmond. I've stayed during weekend get-aways and have always enjoyed my stays. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms in the main house are large with high ceilings. The rooms in the garden are smaller and have a quaint cottage decor. I hear they are now offering wine receptions in the evening. I'm looking forward to enjoying a glass of wine while sitting in the hotel's beautiful courtyard. I highly recommend the Linden Row Inn.

This used to be one of the grand dames of downtown Richmond accomodations. Now, however, it's just kind of sad. Everything was ok - but at a hotel where everthing used to be exceptional, ok doesn't really cut it. You used to walk in the door and feel like you'd landed somewhere truly special. Now you walk in the door and feel like they want your money.

I was approached by somebody on the way into the hotel, and was told to park across the street directly in front of hotel. They next morning my car window was smashed in. I thought the hotel was creepy, there was no microwave or fridge in room and room was freezing. Would NOT recommend staying here.

My husband and I had stayed at this historic inn before and liked it a lot. I was happy to return when a VCU college visit for my daughter came up on our schedule. My one complaint with my room was that it felt and even smelled a bit humid and no amount of adjusting the AC could make it feel comfortable. I had a restless night's sleep because of the heat. Since I was staying only one night, I did not make an issue of it, but if I had been staying longer, I would have gotten hotel staff to fix the AC or move me to another room. Since I had stayed at the inn before, I knew this was not a regular occurance, and I greatly enjoyed everything else about the place - staff, amenities, location and price.

Historic - and Edgar Allen Poe lived there! My husband got a rash; my son's asthma was triggered. Quaint, peaceful, and lovely. Interconnected historic town homes with granite bathrooms. Continental breakfast was ok. Walking distance to Virginia Commonwealth University. $10.50 Valet parking. Edgar Allen Poe played/lived there. Enjoyed our stay and would recommend. Also wonder if there were some special chemical cleaners, mold or dust that could cause reactions?

We live in Richmond, but were attending a holiday party downtown and wanted to stay close by, and the Linden Row Inn was less expensive but just as nice as the hotel the party was in! All the staff were very friendly, the room was lovely, and larger than we expected, and the inside courtyard protected us from the sounds of the city. Only suggestion would be to make the weekend brunch available one hour later for those that like to sleep in!

The Linden Inn was very comfortable, the room was very clean. The bathroom had been remodeled, so everything was new. The hotel staff was the best, very friendly, helpful and informative about the surrounding area. There was a free shuttle service anywhere within three miles of the hotel, so I was able to get in some sight-seeing, as well as get to the downtown area restaurants.

Very pretty. Uncomfortable bed! Hotel staff was careless. It was a very pretty hotel, and clean for the most part. The shower was filthy, we have no idea what was on the bathtub basin. They gave us the wrong room keys the first time. We couldn't get an early check in, and when we arranged for a late check out, they tried to get into our room early- twice. The neighborhood was bad. The offer valet parking, for 10.50 (plus mandatory tip of 3$). They don't tell that you can park on the street for free, but they did tell the lady in front of us in line that her car could be broken into if she left it on the street. The bed was so uncomfortable neither my husband nor I slept more then an hour at a stretch. We

I reserved a Garden Room and was upgraded to a room in the main building with a king bed. The room was huge! The overhead light had no switch so I had to rely on the three lamps placed around the room, which made it a little dark. I'd suggest they take down that overhead, although it may be up there for decoration now. Bed was comfy and everything except the two drinking glasses was clean. Because of where they had to place the light/vent in the bathroom, the shower is rather dark. Parking for check-in was tricky since they don't have a parking lot -- I had to drive around the block a few times before a space in front of the Inn opened up. The clerk was very friendly, polite, and helpful. The valet was prompt in bringing my car when I checked out (and nothing happened to the car overnight). Breakfast was a bit thin, even for a "continental" breakfast. The coffee was good, which is the important thing. For a decently priced hotel in downtown, I'd stay here again.

Nice historical buildings. The noise travels thought the floors in the garden rooms. The hotel has nice staff but they lack attention to detail. The first keys to a room I was given was to a room that was already occupied, lucky for me they were not in their room, the second room had paper thin floors, I could hear every foot step from the room above in this old building, the garden rooms, it was loud. The third room was just right. Finally.

Just spent a night there on 9/17/08 and my wife & I would go back again on our next Richmond visit. The room was nicely decorated and clean. The towels and wash clothes were top quality thick material. Staff was super friendly and helpful with recommendations. The breakfast room has cloth table clothes, real cups and plates and silverware. Great waffles too. There is a big common area palor which is comfortable. The hotel uses a parking deck 1 block over so you can get easy access to your car if you need it, or they will bring it over quickly. We ended up walking to the resturant, Tobacco Company, and to the capitol buiding, etc. Bring your sneaks. There are hills in this city. We plan to stay here again next spring. We had a king room and there was plenty of room. This is a very old building but it has all updated systems, baths and AC for example. It beats staying in the standard fare chain hotels we usually visit.

We had a garden room set in a nice courtyard, very quiet. Lobby smelled very strongly of disinfectant; neighborhood is a bit "iffy" This is a renovated old building with interesting (but small) rooms and a friendly, helpful staff. It is set at the edge of a rather run-down neighborhood, but close to the capital building. It has a good deal of charm, but seems a little "down-at-heel" Central location is useful, street parking is limited, but valet parking is offered.

My visit was beyond simple words. If you want to visit Richmond, the Linden Row Inn is a must. The hotel staff was the best I have seen in all my travels. I was greeted with a smile and the friendliest bellman. My friends had recommended the Jefferson hotel... but at nearly $/* a night I found more than my money's worth just two blocks away from the Jefferson. The sleeping room was completely renovated with beautiful rich colors and the room had a sweet smell like fresh linens. The towels were thick and fluffy. The spacious courtyard was perfect during the afternoon for reading. If you want to visit Richmond, you must stay at the Linden Row Inn. They offer everything you can find at the other hotels, plus so much more character!!!!! This is my new favorite hotel.

Location to Richmond Convention Center. Not clean, bugs right outside of room that come into room. This hotel has a rustic appeal that reminds one of the small rooms in Europe. However, with the bugs that come into the room every night, it takes away the appeal. The carpets in the room were filthy. I thought we had purchased a double room, but we received a double bed only. It's not family friendly, no amenities for small children. The staff is exceptional though. They are able to recommend services for nearby establishments.

This appears to be a nice hotel on the web - run by reputable people. Both perceptions are incorrect. During a recent business trip to Richmond, I decided to stay here. The place is certainly more run down than the web site would have you believe. When I arrived, I had the valet park my car. About an hour later, I called and asked them to bring my car to the front so I could meet a client for dinner. As I drove towards the restaurant, I noticed an unusual thumping sound on the roof of the car. When I arrived at the restaurant, I found that a bar on the luggage rack had been ripped from its metal mounts. I assume the valet parked it in a garage that was too low for the car (an SUV). The valet did not say a word about it when she delivered the car (though the sound of ripping metal must have caused an awful commotion). Upon returning the the hotel, I was told that I would have to discuss the issue with the GM (who would not be in until after I checked out of the hotel the next day). I called him a few days later. He told me, "we can't be resonsible for the damage because you were gone for four hours and you might have done it yourself." I pointed out to him that I had shown the damage to my client and that I could demonstrate that this was caused by his Valet. He would not hear of it.

"Came for the Richmond Marathon and had a great stay at the Linden Row. Spacious, updated, & clean room! Great bathroom w/ large shower. This inn is close to everything in downtown and has wonderful historic charm. We will be back!"

"This hotel looked charming on the website, but has seen better days. There is no restaurant, as advertised. Rooms are worn. Garden needs work. Some staff helpful, some not."
